“Great Location” Great location for the hills and beaches, very peaceful. A lovely wee chalet which had everything we could have needed. (Could maybe have done with some instructions for using the oven but we managed eventually!). Loved the fresh raspberries from the poly tunnel too.

“Beautiful, cozy apartment with excellent Location” We stumbled upon this property while we were rigorously trying to book a 3 nights last minute stay in Edinburgh. The dates of our stay incidentally were the busiest for Edinburgh owing to the Edinburgh International Festival and the Fringe. We were quite not finding the right place since this was our first trip together and everything thing was heavily booked. We were glad to have found an availability at Stuart & Wendy's Cumberland Apartment and much to our surprise it was a wonderful choice. We loved the apartment from the moment we set foot inside. The house was very well done, neatly kept and comfortably stocked. The bottle of wine and the Scottish sweet treats kept by the hosts was indeed quite thoughtful and welcoming. About the interior - The living room area was my personal favorite. It was the perfect mix of contemporary, minimalist yet it had that dash of Old Vintage Scotland with the mantle pieces and other artifacts. We loved the interiors. Kitchen was comfortable and conveniently stocked with all the essentials. About the location - We were looking for something away from the hustle and bustle of the city in the festival time yet not too far from all the major attractions & must see places. And this was just that. Very conveniently located at just a 15 to 40 minutes walk (approx; we quite didn't time it) to all places you'd want to visit i.e Princes street, Old Town, New Town Castle, The Royal Mile. major Restaurants, Bakeries etc. Its pretty accessible. However, the only downer for us was no concrete/fixed Parking facility. We had our own drive and parking was an hassle. They had free parking only from after 5.30 in the evening till 8.30 am. So every morning we had to get up to get the parking tickets with was a little bothersome. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was a good and comfortable time spent at 28A Cumberland street for us. A nice & cozy apartment for a couple or few friends.

“A perfect location with a magnificent view.” Comfortable, well appointed and perfectly located. The only disadvantage is a view so glorious and ever changing that it is easy to just sit there and never do anything else. Make a point of introducing yourself to the family, their local knowledge is graciously given and very valuable. Use the community shop for an insight into island life, and the community cafe for the best smoked salmon you have ever tasted. All the major sights are in easy reach along roads that are a pleasure to drive, but it is worth planning to leave the car behind and spend one day exploring the local hills on foot.

“Excellent location close to Royal Mile” We loved the location of the accomodation. Although a little steep it was very close to The Royal Mile close to the Castle, great eating places, and shopping. We only had a couple of days so didn't explore further. The flat had all amenities and although small was quite comfortable. The only drawback was very little space around the bed. enjoyed our stay

“Excellent cottage, with minor reservations” The cottage is on the whole lovely, very well recently converted/refurbished, very clean, very well fitted, and very well equipped (kitchen equipment etc.). The view from the terrace is lovely, looking out to the sea. It’s also in a very good location, with a short walk up to the headland. It’s fairly remote, so don’t come if you want to spend a lot of time in Stornoway/visit Harris much (an hour/hour and a half)/visit places much further afield (long drives along a lot of single carriage way roads). Worked well for us rock climbers and runners/walkers, as plenty of place to practice our sport! The cottage is quiet, though the sheep can be fairly noisy at times. A gripe are the neighbours dogs, or their lack of control. On the north side had a problem with barking dogs/dog one evening, and on the morning we left (at 4.30am to catch a ferry), the neighbours dog on the south side wouldn’t stop running around the car and barking fairly aggressively. It was very difficult to drive off without running it over (I would have been tempted...). Both neighbours should keep better control of their dogs. If I had been of a more nervous disposition, and didn’t have a partner to shoo away the dog, I wouldn’t have been able to drive away that morning, and would have had to wake the neighbours to ask them to control the dog. I’d happily go back, but not unless I had assurance about those dogs!

“Great Apartment and Location” My friend and I stayed in this apartment for a couple of nights and found it suited our needs perfectly. It was very clean, spacious and with comfy beds and the wifi worked well. The location was perfect, just minutes away from the railway station, restaurants and shops. Being on a main road we thought there might be traffic noise but that was not a problem. All in all an ideal place to stay if you want to be near everything in central Glasgow.

“Great place to stay, all you could ask for and more, definitely hope to return!” We had a fantastic stay at this lovely holiday home. Very well thought out, kids loved the toys and watching TV in bed. The highlight for us was watching a pod of dolphins swim past whilst enjoying the super views out to sea. Owners very helpful and friendly and have provided everything you could need, and at a high standard too. We would definitely recommend this charming holiday cottage. Excellent place, many thanks.

“Cosy Cottage” This cottage lived up to its name. It was a lovely, comfortable retreat at the end of a busy day. It was easy to heat and was well equipped. The beds were really comfortable. The decor is very traditional but suited us. The cottage was immaculate. We liked the location, peaceful but very easy to get to all parts of the Island. David, our host, communicated well with us prior to our stay and gave great directions to help us get there.A courtesy call when we arrived was appreciated. The Island is stunning and we had an amazing holiday

“Lovely stay in north Berwick” Great stay in this terraced 3 bed house. It’s in a nice setting, setback from the road and hence very quiet. It’s a stone throw from the train station which is ideal for day trips to Edinburgh. The high street and beach are lovely and within a 5 minute walk. The house is comfortably furnished and equipped with a large super king bed in the master, wood burning stove and a good shower/bath. We booked directly through the owners website, which was a much better way than through any agent. Would recommend this property.

“Perfect family vacation in Scotland” We are family of five (parents and three boys aged 13, 11 and 6) from Luxembourg and had the pleasure of spending a week at the Shieling during the Easter Holidays in 2014. What a spectacular place: the first impression is of course the superb view from Lucklawhill over St Andrews and the sea. The Morrisons were kind to meet us in St Michaels and after arrival showed us around the house which was in excellent condition. The open area kitchen and living room provided a nice place to have meals and enjoy the view. We also loved the outdoor barbeque and fireplace with a seating area where we could enjoy the evening sun and have an al fresco dinner that is quite rare for Scotland in April. We were very lucky with the weather as well! The two bedrooms and bathrooms were very comfortable and offered a good night’s sleep for all of us. It was nice to wake up to the sound of the birds. The WiFi and children’s TV channels were also valuable in particular in the mornings when the parents wanted to sleep a bit longer… Overall the house could not have been better. We were impressed of the architecture, the comfortable furnishings and the garden with the outdoor seating area. We will definitely come back to enjoy staying at the Shieling and visiting the lovely Scottish nature in the area as well as the great golf in St Andrews.

“Absolutely fabulous” Had a brilliant stay at this cottage in the pretty village of coldingham. It is extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. The beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in! My favourite part of the cottage was the conservatory and the garden which is so pretty! We will definitely be back!

“Excellent house” Just spent a week at this excellent and well appointed house and cannot recommend it highly enough. Well furnished and equipped and only a few yards from the beach and harbour, the house is a perfect base for exploring this interesting and scenic coastline. Sarah, the house manager, gave us a great welcome and lots of information on places to eat and visit. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

“Perfect in every way! Even our cat had a ball!” Sandytoes cabin is a cosy, comfortable and welcoming home from home located in Sandyhills Holiday Village. The beach is minutes away and it is perfectly situated for trips to lots of different towns and attractions. Castle Douglas has lots of independent retailers and places to eat! Dumfries is great for shopping. Holly, the owner , is so kind and helpful! We brought our cat with us and Holly left a pack of Dreamies for her. Lovely little touches all round the cabin, which is beautiful! Everything you could possibly want or need in a holiday home is there. The badgers are so entertaining too! We loved our "badgerwatch" every night! They love croissants and peanut butter , by the way! This was the perfect break for our wee family with very comfortable accommodation. Loved it so much we booked to come back in 3 weeks time! Thanks, Holly!

“Amazing house for a family celebration!” We were a group of 8 adults, 6 children and a dog, and we all loved the house! I had booked it as a surprise for my husband's 40th birthday for our family, along with his sister's families and parents. It had great sized rooms and a wonderful cosy living room with fire. It was well equipped with everything we could need and more. We wouldn't think twice about going back!

“Fantastic” Great location, fantastic views and the house is beautiful. Had a fantastic family holiday and the house was suited to all. Great for a relaxing holiday and right by the harbour which makes it ideal. Being going to Port Patrick for 20 years now and this is one of the best places we've stayed in by far. We will definitely be returning to this house in the near future! Stuart

“Excellent dog friendly flat in a perfect location.” Flat was in the perfect location, overlooking the river, with great areas to take long walks with our dog.
