“Excellent, well-equipped cottage in a fine location” My wife and I stayed with our 3 year old and 6 month old daughters in Sept 2012. This was an excellent cottage in a good location. It is excellently equipped, with all the necessary mod-coms. Modern, yet remains very homely, and with a real eye for detail. The layout is very good, especially for young children to run around in (but not to be disturbed by the tv when sleeping at night), largely on a ground floor level, but with a really cosy loft bedroom upstairs. My 3 year old loved playing with the great selection of games left by the owners, and my wife and I had everything we could ask for with books, TV & wi-fi internet, and some slightly larger jigsaws. Travelcot and highchair available for the babe too.
Parking in courtyard and a small separate garden for the kids to enjoy too. It's also right next to the Caddyman's restaurant for a good mix of fine-dining & pub food (squirrel balls anyone?!). It might be not far away from a main road, but actually it is extremely quiet and far enough a way to not be a problem for the kids.
The Scottish Borders is an excellent place for a stress-free family holiday. An infinite number of walks in very attractive countryside, close to the town of Jedburgh to pick up groceries (and order a good curry!), with lots of other close towns (e.g. Kelso) and a large Sainsbury's not too far away. A good selection of play-parks, animal parks, castles, cafes and craft villages also close by, and only a 1-2 hour drive to get to the City of Edinburgh
Excellent price and very friendly, helpful owners. Can't fault it in the slightest. I'm already being pestered by my little ladies to go back again very soon. And we will!
“Stunning cottage in beautiful surroundings.” My family (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed in orchard cottage for new year and thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The cottage is tastefully decorated throughout and definitely has the wow factor. Everything we needed was in the cottage which made it a home from home. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed walks by the river and into Melrose for a lovely lunch or dinner. The owners were extremely friendly and we will definitely return to orchard cottage in the future.
“Fantastic” This cottage was absolutely stunning, great place to relax and forgot about everything. The hottub was great spent a few days in it. Everything you need is in the cottage all you need to take is yourself and food. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. Will definitely go back and will recommend to others. Had a lovely morning watching sum rise at St abbs harbour and seen about a dozen or more dolphins
“Excellent cottage for holiday.” Location of cottage ideal for peebles and surrounding towns within Scottish Borders. Margot provided excellent welcome pack including fresh flowers and wine, and provided good knowledge of area. Cottage was well equipped and very comfortable. Would highly recommend cottage for anyone looking for dog friendly accommodation in peebles, we would certainly use again if visiting area.
“Fabulous cosy one bed apartment with everything you require close by which includes beach and shoreline.” Lovely 3 day break away. Perfect apartment, amenities and great location. Lots to do within the local area, fabulous walks and cycle paths close by.
“Beautiful apartment in perfect location” We recently stayed at Lee Penn for a week and found the apartment to be clean, beautifully furnished and well equipped. The surrounding area is stunning with plenty to do especially if you like walking and mountain biking. Lucy and Dave were great hosts, extremely helpful and having them next door was an added bonus as they provided a lot of good information about bike trails and walks nearby. Lucy also gave my wife an introductory lesson in mountain biking which she thoroughly enjoyed. We stayed elsewhere in Peebles last April but after staying in Lee Penn this April would not think of staying anywhere else but Lee Penn when returning to the area again.
A real gem of an apartment in a great location.
“Charming cottage” We have just spent three lovely nights at this cosy and spacious cottage. We have extended family in Melrose but there were too many family members visiting at the same time to all stay at their home so we conveniently stayed at this lovely cottage with our two young children (3 and 1). Claire and Donald arranged a travel cot for us which was perfect and Donald graciously welcomed us despite our arrival in the dark on our first night! Highly recommended and we'll certainly return next time we come to the UK to visit our extended family.
“Borders Break” Really nice welcome by the hosts and really good accommodation. Having your own private lounge and conservatory makes the stay so much more relaxing and so much better than a traditional B&B. I would recommend it to anyone and will definitely consider it again the next time that I am travelling to the area.
This region of South East Scotland shares a border with England and is renowned for its hospitality and stunning scenery. With a rich (often turbulent) history, you’ll find plenty to see and do here, including hundreds of holiday rentals in the Scottish Borders to choose from.
About the Scottish Borders
Whilst the area was once heavily fought over, with a reputation for lawlessness, things have changed and today it’s the friendly locals and rich history which draw the crowds. Home to towns such as Melrose and Jedburgh with their ancient abbeys, the area has links to Sir Walter Scott and Robert the Bruce, and is also known as one of the finest spots for salmon and trout fishing in the world.
What to Do
Stop off at Glenkinchie Distillery, home to the Edinburgh Malt, for a wee dram.

Great location, very well kept accommodation. Stacey was very welcoming. We had everything we needed plus some nice additional extras (bread, milk, biscuits). Next door to the shop and about 100yards from the pub (serves decent food). Would highly recommend this place. Thanks for a nice stay. …
THE BEACH HOUSE, close to beach, pet-friendly, WiFi, Sky TV, in Eyemouth, Ref 93
Very clean and spacious.
The beach house was very clean and had ample bedrooms for our family of 4. The weather was just superb and made our stay in Eyemouth great! The description on the Internet about the house is pretty accurate except the parking. We brought 2 cars and had difficulty getting parking at the same place which is behind the house most nights.. We all enjoyed staying at the beach house but could not figure out how to work the DVD player. Obviously we are not technically clever.. Overall, we would highly recommend the beach house to anyone wanting a nice place for their holiday near the beach! …
