“Wonderful break at a beautiful property” Just returned from a wonderfully relaxing 5 day break at Tynings Barn. The property is just so lovely, being furnished to such a high standard with all mod cons and located in a peaceful yet accessible setting being close to Gloucester city yet set right in the countryside with beautiful views across open fields from the first floor and easy access to the Forest of Dean. The owner Annabelle was so welcoming and we were warmly greeted on our arrival with a bottle of wine and biscuits. The adjoining bamboo gardens are quite magical. Took our teenage daughter and her friend who both loved the break and really enjoyed the table tennis and dart board on site and shopping at Gloucester Quays. Would also recommend the activity centre in Coleford in the Forest of Dean where for £20 each we all did various high wire tree activities and all did the leap of faith! The property was also safe outside with the gate closed for our cavapoo dog to have a nosy around and lie out in the sun. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely visit again as so much to do and from such a lovely base to return to each day or to just spend the day sitting outside relaxing and unwinding with a good book, glass of wine or cup of tea to the peaceful background sounds of the countryside.

“Fantastic weekend break” Fab weekend break in Stow. The house was perfectly situated for Stow (2 minute walk) and walking in the Costwolds, we parked the car Fri pm and got back in it Mon am. Everything you need for a weekend, clean and comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend.

“Boundary Barn is great!” Our group of university friends have visited the barn for three years now for our annual Christmas meet-up. It's well equipped and great for cooking and eating meals together for all 10 of us! We'll be back next year!

“Wonderful!” I booked this cottage for my mum and grandad to stay in over the Christmas holidays and what a find it is! The booking process was easy and Alex was always quick to respond to any questions we may have. The property is very spacious, perfect for when you have extra guests popping by. It’s only flaw is the oven, it does need some time to warm up but this won’t be putting us off from booking again. We all absolutely adored this place.

“Everyone in our party of 10 agreed - BHF was absolutely perfect” This year it was my turn to organise the annual reunion and I managed to find the gem that is BHF. It was by far the best venue yet. We had several barbecues on the patio in the blazing sunshine with the best views you could ask for, absolutely perfect. Better still it was the weekend of Fairford Airshow and we had a fantastic flyby from the Red Arrows... thanks for arranging that for us Peter and Linda ;)

“Beautiful Cottage” The Cottage had a wonderful feel to it as soon as we walked in. The decor is very stylish and the cottage is well stocked, clean and the furniture comfortable. The owner and her husband we're extremely helpful and accommodating and I would not hesitate to book with them again. My only regret is that I did not book Jasmine Cottage for longer!

“We couldn't have asked for a better location - simply excellent” My family of 13 (including a baby) stayed at Ashton House to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday and we were there for 2 nights. The location is simply stunning and the house is perfect for a large group. Everything you need is in the house, the rooms are well presented and the decor is lovely. We felt very special. The whole area is so peaceful and relaxing, we could have stayed for much longer. Arrangements beforehand were really comprehensive with simple directions, entry, parking etc details. I would highly recommend this house for anybody wanting a special break.

“We had a great stay!” We had a great stay! The place is very clean, with all the need it facilities and very comfy bed. And not to forget the great views! We went for walks around the lakes and Thames path walk too. We also went canoeing on the lakes - the hire place is very close (where you can hire a variety of water sports items and bikes). And we also spent a few days visiting the surrounding beautiful villages. Janet and Pete were amazing hosts!

“Comfortable and convienent” Location for visiting the places we had in mind was great. We went to Berkeley Castle via the amphitheatre and on our way home just did a little detour over the seven bridge to say we had visited Wales. Also very good for Bath and we also visited the Falconry which was excellent. In all a good week and a welcoming cabin to come home to in the evening.

“Perfect family holiday home.” We spent a week earlier this month at Nethercote House for a family reunion and we all loved it. The house is spacious, spotless and very well equipped. The fact that it is in walking distance of Bourton-on-the-Water, with all it's attractions, was an added bonus. My family is already talking about a return visit. We have no hesitation in recommending Nethercote House.

“Super weekend away!” Booked as a weekend gathering for a few couples and our small children. The house worked extremely well and living areas felt spacious even when we were all together. “Stunning! Couldnt have asked for a better weekend!” The extravagant gated driveway and the long meander up to the house gives the feeling of what you are to expect upon arrival at Ewelme Manor. We were greeted with a gorgeous arrival gift of Champagne, strawberries and chocolates giving the sense that the owners truly welcomed us into their home and wishes us a pleasant stay. Every room within the house is perfectly decorated, in its own theme, with oodles of space for your party. There was never a sense of being uncomfortable during our stay. The house was completely fully furnished, even down to ice trays meaning that our party did not want for anything. We were completely taken care of. The outdoor heated pool and surrounding patio area was perfect for lazy days in the sunshine followed by BBQ’s and outdoor games, which took place away from the house with plenty of space for a game or two of rounders. The pool house containing cinema and wet room were an added surprise and were often frequented when things became too hectic and a sit down was needed. Everything we could of asked for 20 ladies to enjoy a fabulous weekend!! Thank you to the owners Stephen and Candida for all the personal touches, taking care of all of our requests and of course the gorgeous weather :o)

“Fantastic peaceful piece of heaven!” We arrived on the Friday night so it was dark, got inside the house one word WOW! In the morning the views from the balcony amazing peaceful beautiful place, grounds spa all beautiful, if you get a chance you must stay at this little piece of heaven!

“Trotters Farm stay” We had a great few days at Trotters Farm. Stella made us feel very welcome was very generous with her knowledge of the area ideas of what to do. She left us with milk bread fresh eggs and wine. The barn was very modern clean tidy and very warm. The local pub was a mile away and has excellent food. My partner and our dog loved it also. My only criticism if any would be the shower is not very powerful which was a shame as the bathroom is very spacious. Power pump would sort it. We will definitely return. Thank you Stella.

Consisting of sprawling hills, thatched cottages, history-rich churches and ancient mansions, it couldn't be prettier. Book yourself a picture postcard cottage in a quaint village, a spacious barn conversion out in the countryside, or an apartment with all the amenities of a bustling market town.
Where to go in Cotswolds?
The Cotswolds has been seducing its visitors for centuries. Here, the air feels cleaner, the villages are greener and there's quintessential charm at every turn.
If you're looking for stately homes akin to Downton's finest, a trip to Frampton Court Estate, Stanway House, Rodmarton Manor or Cornwell Manor, among others, will be right up your street. For a taste of village life, you're equally spoilt for choice. Some of our favourites include Naunton, Painswick and Bourton on Water (affectionately nicknamed the Venice of the Cotswolds). All boast that famous honey-hued Cotswold stone and effortless style.
Farmers' markets are also popular and in abundance here. The market towns of Chipping Campden and Cirencester offer among some of the best produce.
And don't forget to check out one of the countless country pubs. No trip to the Cotswolds is complete without some hearty local produce and artisan ale by the fire. Wherever you choose to stay, there's bound to be an excellent pub nearby. Even the smallest villages have exceptionally fresh food on offer.
Things to do in Cotswolds
Spread across six counties, the Cotswolds boasts plenty of fun and memorable activities for all the family (pets included!). On the top of many people's lists is the awe-inspiring Gloucester Cathedral. Built over 1300 years ago and steeped in history, it's well worth taking a tour of the catacombs and bell tower. If you're lucky, you may even catch the award-winning choir in action.
For little and big kids alike, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens in the popular village of Burford is a must-visit. Set in over 160 acres of parkland, you'll discover lions, rhinos, giraffes and much, much more. Plus, the park is dedicated to looking after special endangered species, so your visit will be helping keep these marvellous creatures alive and well.
Other popular attractions include the beautiful grounds and buildings of Blenheim Palace. Birthplace to a certain Sir Winston Churchill, it's a masterpiece of 18th century architecture and splendour.
Regardless of your age or budget, there's no better way to embrace the beauty than with a walk in the great outdoors.
