“Excellent, well-equipped cottage in a fine location” My wife and I stayed with our 3 year old and 6 month old daughters in Sept 2012. This was an excellent cottage in a good location. It is excellently equipped, with all the necessary mod-coms. Modern, yet remains very homely, and with a real eye for detail. The layout is very good, especially for young children to run around in (but not to be disturbed by the tv when sleeping at night), largely on a ground floor level, but with a really cosy loft bedroom upstairs. My 3 year old loved playing with the great selection of games left by the owners, and my wife and I had everything we could ask for with books, TV & wi-fi internet, and some slightly larger jigsaws. Travelcot and highchair available for the babe too.
Parking in courtyard and a small separate garden for the kids to enjoy too. It's also right next to the Caddyman's restaurant for a good mix of fine-dining & pub food (squirrel balls anyone?!). It might be not far away from a main road, but actually it is extremely quiet and far enough a way to not be a problem for the kids.
The Scottish Borders is an excellent place for a stress-free family holiday. An infinite number of walks in very attractive countryside, close to the town of Jedburgh to pick up groceries (and order a good curry!), with lots of other close towns (e.g. Kelso) and a large Sainsbury's not too far away. A good selection of play-parks, animal parks, castles, cafes and craft villages also close by, and only a 1-2 hour drive to get to the City of Edinburgh
Excellent price and very friendly, helpful owners. Can't fault it in the slightest. I'm already being pestered by my little ladies to go back again very soon. And we will!
Superb accommodation like a home from home. Accommodation, facilities and views were magnificent. Highly recommended. Thank you …

Number 4 Cottage, Mounthooly
Lovely little 'get away'
Perfect spot for a family get away with teenagers. An attic bedroom upstairs we didn't know about until we opened one of the doors!
A well appointed cottage with all the necessary furnishings. Spotlessly clean, prettily decorated which made you feel welcomed.
A short distance into Jedburgh with all the historic attractions, cafes and shops (excellent butchers, delicious pies! at Learmouths)
The cottage is next door to a simply superb restaurant, the 'Caddyman', don't be fooled by the homely interior, it's a hidden gem.
Lovely walks from the cottage, pretty sunny garden with patio area but as a Mother who has raised 3 lively children, I would say the garden is not suitable for young children as it is not securely fenced.
Appart from that we would certainly stay again, very peaceful, and very relaxing
P.s if you have a fisherman in the family there is plenty of fishing to be had, making the right enquiries and licences etc …
st cuthberts barn Ancrum ,5 miles north of Jedburgh .Ideal for walkers dog friendly
We loved our short break at the barn. 2 adults, 2 children and our dog all fitted perfectly and we were all nice and cosy. The barn is well equipped and the owner left some essentials (bread/milk/butter/tea/coffee) with some nice wee treats (biccies and chocs) which was a lovely touch. The only downside was the double bed being a sofa bed so the mattress isn't the most supportive but it was comfy enough for a couple of nights.
The village is small and friendly with some amazing walks nearby. The barn is a welcome cosy retreat after a nice long walk. Unfortunately the Cross Keys pub next door doesn't serve food on Mondays & Tuesdays but Jedburgh is only 5mins away in the car where we had some hearty dinners (Belters Bar had amazing food!).
We had a great stay and would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area. …
