“the best place to stay in orkney” I stayed for 6 Weeks at the Tiffyhall self catering holiday cottage (4 Sleeps). It's a perfect place for a retreat and a good basis for discovering the Orkney Isles. The cottage has 2 very nice bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen with a dinig table, a cosy living room, highspeed internet connection and a very nice bathroom with shower and tub. The Cottage is lovingly equipped and the landlords Tina and Paul were very helpful und caring. The souroundings in deerness are peaceful and breathtakingly beautiyful with views to the Newark Bay and the Mullhead Reserve with the Gloup und the Brough of Deerness nearby. There's a store about 1 km from the cottage and big supermarkets in Kirkwall. The cottage is on the bus line to the airport and to Kirkwall, so you can do daytrips to the sites of Orkney without a car, allthough it would be easier if you have one. I really enjoyed visiting the World Heritage sites of Maes Howe, Ring of Brodgar, Standing Stones of Stenness and Skara Brae. I made some very nice coastal walks along immpressive cliffsat Yesnaby, Mullhead and Hoxa and crossed the Churchill Barriers to Lamb Holm, Glimbs Holm, Burray and South Ronaldsay. The lovely town of Kirkwall with its cafés, pubs, shops, a very nice museum and the Highland Park Distillery is worth more then one visit. I can just highly recommend to stay at Tiffyhall.

“The perfect base to explore The Orkney Islands” Kringla, which had been recently completed in July 2012, represented a wonderful base for our family to explore the wonders of the Orkney Mainland and a few of the islands. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with all the conveniences we needed for our stay.
The property is within very short walking distance of a village shop and a pub/hotel. Walks from the house into the surrounding countryside are filled with wonderful sights. The folk of Dounby are friendly and welcoming.
Wider afield, Mainland is endowed with many attractions. These span human history; from the Neolithic to World War 2. There is never a dull moment in Orkney.
Go to Orkney; go to Dounby; stay at Kringla. You'll have a wonderful holiday!
