“Loved it” We booked very last minute and wanted accommodation for only 2 nights. Very few properties allow only 2 nights so when this one came up it was ideal. The owner came back to us immediately and the whole booking process was smooth. Loved the caravan it was excellent. Clean tidy and had everything you needed. The weather on Saturday was excellent so we had a bbq and even managed to utilise the sun loungers. Thanks

“A welcome break in Scotland” We stayed in this delightful Croft in the midst of a three week tour of Scotland and what a find it is. We arrived to find the kitchen stove blazing away to make the whole place cozy and inviting. It is obvious that the Croft is a much loved family home and there is a wonderful collage of photos to show many happy times. We found everything we needed including many informative books of Scotland and guides to the walks and places to visit in the area, even binoculars to view the wildlife. Not that they were needed to see the Roe deer that came down to graze most evenings. We counted seven on one occasion within feet of the house. Wonderful.

“Stylish and stunning accommodation with beautiful views over the loch” This house exceeded our expectations and is even better than the photos. It is very thoughtfully laid out with everything you need supplied. The owners Chris and Da were very welcoming and helpful and our stay felt far too short!. It is perfect for visiting the beautiful west coast and we were treated to some of the best Scottish weather with fabulous blue skies. Would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to anyone and look forward to staying again.

“Lovely break” We had a lovely stay for 2 nights. The house is beautiful. We were a group of 8 and there was more than enough room for us all. The bedrooms are lovely and the bed were very comfortable. All the bedrooms were en-suite. The living are was also beautiful and the kitchen was very well equipped. It was very cosy at night time with the log burner on. A really good location for Inverness and also Loch Lomond. We had a great time and will definitely return in the future. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely couple of day away.

“Tasteful, comfortable home with great central location” Lovely house, short walk from town centre. Comfortable, tasteful furnishings. Very clean. Great little garden which we enjoyed using, eating meals there in the sun. Better wi-fi than at home. Well equipped kitchen with lots of little extras available - tea, coffee, oils, sauces, cleaning liquids etc. Also a welcome pack of fresh bread, milk and things. There is a very handy (but not too close to be noisy) Tesco metro 3 mins walk away. Very helpful and accommodating owners. Street parking right by the front door. Inverness is a great city, just a few minutes pleasant walk over the river. Be advised to book if you want to eat out at weekends and most shops shut by 17.30. Lots of things to do without travelling too far. Some highlights were seeing dolphins close to shore at Chanory Point just north of inverness and a distillery visit (we looked out for a small one). Lovely beaches, lots of walking, castles, Loch Ness ( you should book a fortnight!)

“Lovely, well-located, warm bungalow” This bungalow was right at the heart of the village of Nethybridge, looking onto the River Nethy. It was adjacent to the village shop on one side and the village hall on the other. Very convenient for a New Year's visit. It is also situated only metres from Abernethy forest which is wonderful for exploring. A great centre for outdoor activities. The bungalow was both clean and warm.

“A lovely warm and spacious home” Achnagonalin was warm and welcoming when we arrived. Very well equipped and spacious and only a few minutes by car to Grantown. The open fire in the living room with 3 big sofas were lovely for relaxing in the evening, as were the comfortable beds. The kids loved the labyrinth of stairs and hallways. We discovered a lovely wood fired pizza take away outlet just around the corner too ( open Weds- Sat in winter) Would definitely stay again..

“Fantastic stay at the Coorie Doon” We stayed at the Coorie Doon from 9th to 13th May 2019. Upon arrival we were greeted with a bottle of wine to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday which was a really lovely touch. The chalet is kept in top condition and is spotlessly clean. The views from the decking are spectacular overlooking the river Spey and the mountains in the distance. We were greeted by 2 families of ducklings each morning which we fed using the duck food supplied in the chalet. We also saw a deer running through the river one morning. Aviemore is a great place to stay to explore the Cairgorms. We can't rate the Coorie Doon highly enough and we cant wait to return.

“Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location” The cottage was beautiful. Very well equipped and very well maintained. We loved the log burner . Fort Augustus is a lovely small village with everything you need. Pubs, shops and even takeaways. You can cruise Loch Ness. It’s really well situated for going all around the highlands. It was our first time in Scotland and we’ll definitely be back and would stay at Kintore again.

Scottish Highlands holidays

The Scottish Highlands are among Europe's most imposing landscapes. Visitors come expecting crags and lochs, windswept mountains and deep-rooted tradition; that's exactly what they get. Venturing north of Stirling and Dundee, the intrepid traveler won't find another city until Inverness, where the legendary Loch Ness meets the Moray Firth. From there, winding roads and unspoilt vistas carry you to John O'Groats and the steely North Sea.

Highlands holiday cottages come in all shapes and sizes. If you're hoping to get closer to nature, lochside log cabins are an excellent - and economical - option. Or how about a stone cottage near the foot the UK's tallest mountain, Ben Nevis? Unless you're staying in a larger town, self catering in the Scottish Highlands is often the best option - it's unusual to get room service on a mountainside! If you're planning to stay somewhere truly remote, be sure to arrange some basic supplies beforehand.

Weird and wonderful

Without a doubt, Scotland has the UK's strangest wildlife. So strange, in fact, that it has eluded would-be monster hunters for decades. If you want to catch a glimpse of Nessie, perhaps a cruise along the vast Loch Ness, plus a tour of the crumbled Urquhart Castle, will be the ideal day out.

In the Cairngorm mountains to the south, you can walk among Britain's only herd of reindeer. You'll need a good pair of hiking boots, but the opportunity to feed them by hand is as popular with adults as it is with younger visitors.

Into the wild

Those with the stomach for adventure might consider scaling all 1,200m of Ben Nevis to reach the highest point in the country, 1,346m above sea level. You can leave your ice axes at home in summer, but it is a tough hike. Set aside a whole day to do it and savour the view from the summit.

From the highest point to the most northerly: at John O'Groats you can look out to sea from the very tip of mainland Scotland. A few miles west in Gills Bay or Scrabster, you can hop on a boat to the Orkney islands, home to thriving communities of islanders and countless wild birds. There are only a few sailings a day, so plan thoroughly if you don't intend to stay.

Laundry Cottage
Wonderful

Stayed at Laundry Cottage for 3 nights and it was wonderful. The cottage is lovely and very clean. There is everything you need and is very comfortable. It is in a very quiet area next to the river amongst beautiful scenery. I would recommend a stay here for peace and quiet and to chill out. Sandra the host even left a lovely bottle of wine for us which was a lovely touch.see more

Simply the Best!

From the convenient location and parking, to all of the home from home comforts we cannot speak highly enough of this self-catering accommodation. We especially appreciated all of the information provided about local walks, trips out, and the local eateries. It was obvious how much thought had gone into compiling it all. The personal touch from Alison was also very much appreciated. We hope to be back for a return visit very soon. Thank you for a lovely 5 days.see more

Highland Haven
A perfect base for a West Highland holiday.

The house is strategically placed for many of the desirable locations in the West Highlands, including Clachtoll and Achmelvich beaches, Suilven and Stac Ppllaidh. Sandwood Bay is also well worth a visit , despite being some distance from the house. The great skuas may not welcome you to Handa Island but the thousands of seabirds clinging to the perpendicular cliffs will provide lasting memories. There are a range of walks in Assynt that cater for most ability levels. After a day on the hills or at the beach, it was a pleasure to return to a comfortable exceptionally well equipped house. There is a spacious kitchen with adjacent eating area. The tastefully decorated sitting room has windows on three sides and affords excellent views of the sunset on Loch Inver. On several occasions, we had visits from stags who displayed their velvet antlers as they grazed in the surrounding area. We had a wonderful week and recommend this location for those who wish to explore Assynt.see more
