“Scottish gem” Acorn Cottage is set in a peaceful rural location. We found it very clean and well equipped every thing we needed for a wonderful holiday. The lemon drizzle cake was very welcome on our arrival and the red squirrel kept us amused

“Really welcoming and extremely pet friendly” Fabulous location with amazing views- harbour, beach, skies. We were made very welcome when we arrived and the welcome food package was excellent. Yvonne had even left biscuits for the dog. The house was incredibly warm and finishing touches marvellous.

“MAGNIFICENT!!!” Thank you for the best holiday! We stayed for 2 weeks and everything was perfect. My daughter came to visit us from South Africa and enjoyed the sudden appearances of the "Bambi's" (deer) at the kitchen window. All the windows are nice and big and the house is full of light. We also had visits from the rabbits and squirrels and could watch them from the warmth of the lounge. We also had some snow and the lawn and trees around were covered in a white blanket. Between all the eating and sleeping we also enjoyed playing the various games available and as a family we spent our valuable time together at a perfect home which offers everything and more. Thank you Paula and Jim and also Melva for a great stay! Regards Anita & Jose Pita (South Africa)

“Excellent visit” Very smart well-appointed and beautifully maintained apartment. Fine location overlooking the sea, and within easy walk to shops and pubs. Comfortable and warm with the provision of a wood burning stove. Tarbert is really well placed for travel anywhere on Harris or Lewis - a wealth of wonderful walking and cycling opportunities . Our thanks to the hosts and to Chirsty and Callum next door for all their help and for the craic!

“Great place to stay, well worth a visit” We booked this as a small break before going back to work, we found the directions easy to follow and found it no bother at all. The lodge itself was nice, could do with a clean in high to reach places as there was a lot of spiders webs across the big window looking over the loch, but was clean overall! The hot tub was good to use, and is a good novelty lighting and heating it yourself, only issue, was Jane, we were told to text or phone for more wood but she never answered or replied to our numerous messages, we had to phone the owner to get in contact with her. And upon our final day we had requested a late check out of 12 which was agreed, but the hot tub was emptied at 8.30am whilst we were still in our bed which we thought was quite rude, we planned on putting our daughter in it in the morning as the water is still a good temperature, the owner then chapped the door at 9.55 asking to clean, which we stated we had asked for late check out but he said it must of been an oversight on his part. The rest of the site is nice but not accessible for walking at night without a torch as it gets very dark, the locals at the shop and pub are very friendly. Over all a satisfying stay

“My best ever self-catering experience” I loved, loved, loved the Grand Marine apartment, which I had booked for myself to celebrate my retirement after 35 years of teaching. I had never been to Bute before, but wanted an island break where I could both relax "at home" and explore the area. Grand Marine alowed me to do both. The apartment is very, very comfortable with all the amenities one would expect and more and all decorated in a light and fresh manner. Not surprisingly, I spent a lot of time sitting by the living room windows looking at the exceptional views. Although the weather during my stay was mixed, it was simply wonderful to be able to watch the water and sky change, the ferry come in and out...... The flat also was an excellent base for visiting all the many attractions of Bute, with Mount Stuart and seal-watching at Scalpsie Bay particular highlights. Nothing was very far away or particularly difficult to find or get to. Yes, Grand Marine is on the second floor, but worth every step. I've stayed in several self-catering flats and houses before, but this is very definitely my favourite - a wonderful start to my retirement Thank you so much for having me!

“Just perfect” Thank you Lorna for all the trouble you have gone to, to make this cabin a perfect place to stay. It was our favourite place out of 5 cottages we stayed at in the UK. From the generous breakfast basket that is quite rare in a self contained cottage, to the lovely greeting, beautiful decorations and touches like the fresh flowers, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen, bird feeders to enjoy the birds and a lovely view especially at sunset, you could not want for anything more at this gorgeous cabin.

“The Retreat on Paradise Lane” Stayed here as working in Elgin and it proved to be a great choice. The house is clean, warm and quiet. The wifi works easily and the shower is great. The bed is so comfy I slept for 9 hours each night! There is a parking space at the front of the house off the road. The beach is not far away and is great to run or walk along stretching 2 and a half miles to the west. Morag is close by and very helpful. The dishwasher, washing machine and cooker all work well although if you are looking to eat out there are options close by too.

“GREAT PET FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION” Just like to say what a lovely cottage the added Christmas decorations made it feel just like home (wish it was our home). The Wood Burner was great and we could not believe how hot the radiator in the bedroom was it was so cosy.Loved the sofa and all the furnishings it was just as we would have picked, it was nice to have proper hangers in the wardrobe and not the plastic ones you usually find in holiday lets. Our only complaint would be the fridge it was a bit small and there was no freezer, ditch the dishwasher and put in a small freezer instead. Our dogs loved lying in front of the fire and running around in the garden however because of the weather they did not get to enjoy it enough if only it had snowed it would have been perfect. Thanks for the the milk and biscuits it really was appreciated. We hope to be back soon.

“Fantastic house” Just spent a week here. To say the house is fantastic is an understatement. We were the first family in since lockdown eased and it had everything we needed and more to stay safe. The house itself was welcoming, warm and large enough for our whole family. We had a gorgeous welcome with bread, milk, fresh butter and shortbread waiting for us on our arrival. With an Xbox, PlayStation, Alexa and sky the kids were more than entertained in an evening and with views over the harbour and gorgeous woodland walks on our door step we were spoilt and we really did have a fabulous break. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone and will definitely be coming back.

“Fantastic property, fantastic location, fantastic locals!” We stayed in the property for 6 weeks as we were working on South Uist. The property is first class and gave us everything we needed. The location is stunning and we were made to feel extremely welcome by everyone we met on Eriskay, particularly in the AM Politician; which I cannot recommend enough also! We will back in the New Year for sure!
