“Lovely well equipped house if a bit quirky” This house is in a great location about 5 minutes away from the shops so you don’t hear traffic all day. Admittedly, there is trains but they are fun to watch especially the steam engine that passes each day. Having a separate dining room, kitchen and living room was great as it meant our large group wasn't tripping over each other. The kitchen was remarkably well stocked – every implement we could think of was there, which gave us a lot of freedom in the kitchen. In addition, there was in fact two fridges and a freezer. I must also do a shout out here for the quality of the non-stick pans as they could have an egg fried on them without oil. The living room has Skye which is nice for the evenings (and therefore there is a HDMI at the house if you want to plug a laptop in). Also, the sofas are recliners and very comfy to relaxing in in an evening. The reviews of the two double beds are that you sink in and do not want to leave (can confirm) but as people have said there is a shower and a toilet in one of the rooms. We were pleasantly surprised how unobtrusive the toilet was – although you would want the privacy of the room to yourself when going. In addition, the shower downstairs was bliss and had greater pressure than the upstairs one. The garden was beautifully kept and has a very sturdy summer house in the corner. The lawn was large enough that we could play games such as piggy-in-middle easily. As for Aviemore, it is the perfect location for all manner of outdoor activities but many are made infinitely easier by having a car with you.

“Well equipped flat, excellent location” The flat is very good, only thing that lets it down is the smell of stale cigarette smoke in the lounge, if this could be sorted out I would have rated it excellent.

“Superb cottage” A beautiful 4 bedroom cottage with spectacular views of Skye, Eigg, Muck and Rùm. It has two sitting rooms one of which has patio doors that lead to a very large decking area with a table and chairs to relax at. It also has two bathrooms one of which has a large bath and both have also got separate shower cubicles. The kitchen is large and has nice fittings and another large glass table and chairs. This would suit 8 people if required although there was just the two of us staying there. Hope to be back in the near future.

“Amazing house, pity about the ants!” Amazing house to stay in but unfortunately it was spoiled slightly with the ants in the kitchen! Turned cooker on and they were everywhere! We were celebrating a special anniversary meal and had to deal with ants, not ideal. The owner did say they had dealt with them but obviously not fully. Apart from that the house is amazing with beautiful views from two of the bedrooms. Garden lovely but not child friendly. We did enjoy our stay.

“Our Amazing Holiday in The Croft Sandend” Our daughter, her husband and children aged 7 & 9 stayed with us in the cottage. We all thoroughly enjoyed the cottage, the view across the beach and the harbour. The facilities in the cottage are superb. We hope to be able to return next year.

“A great stay!!” Angela and Gordon made us feeling at home. The room was spacious and clean and the breakfast was delicious. They even invited us to join when they had friends coming over. Will definitely stay with them again!

“Everything on your doorstep.” Perfectly situated cottage near the harbour. The extensive garden and patio were a bonus. Two front door keys would have been useful although the local key holder was very helpful. More seating in the living room would make for a more comfortable stay. We would stay there again.

“wonderful location” We have stayed in this area before so we knew the location was really good, right next to the sea and minutes from the town centre. The apartment was the icing on the cake - spacious, very clean, warm and nicely furnished. Couldn't have asked for more!! Thanks Ian.

“Barley Cottage overlooking river Cree” We had an Autumn break in this comfortable, modern, fresh property. Location is good, within walking distance from local shops and supermarkets, yet steeped in nature at the rear of the cottage with the relaxing sound and sight of the river flowing by. A good base for walks, dark sky forests, botanical gardens and trips to the coast. The property was spotlessly clean, well maintained, with very up to date decoration and furnishings. We enjoyed our stay very much.

“Great stay” I would like to take the time to say how much of a relaxing time we had at the lodge. It was quiet and peaceful. Great views couldn't see any dear but never mind! Would definitely stay again. Thanks Stuart

“Perfect location and very good standard” Conveniently situated in a quiet lane but central and close to the Melrose shops, rugby pitch, Abbey and Priorwood Gardens, this gem of a cottage was cleverly and beautifully furnished, spacious, immaculately clean, so well equipped we didn't feel in a holiday cottage at all but at home, away from home. The well-tended garden was beautiful and very enjoyable, with mature trees close to the property. Plenty of clear instructions and advice from the owner, as well as thoughtful delightful attentions awaiting us after a long journey, which made us feel very welcome and immediately comfortable. The scenic railway line from nearby Tweedbank Station is very convenient and makes it really easy to go to Edinburgh on a day trip. I thouroughly recommend Lavender Blue Cottage.
