“Magical Xmas” We spent a magical Xmas at Balinakill. We had the biggest Xmas tree I've ever seen, which the owners had plucked from the ample grounds. The well equipped kitchen made it easy for everyone to pitch in with the cooking and the large dining room sat the extended family easily round the table. We made good use of the cosy bar with mulled wine, pints and even a sing song. Our spacious room had a lovely view to the front of the house. It was tasteful, comfortable and warm. Original features such as the fireplace and the shutters added to the cosiness and meant we slept in each morning. We had a modern bathroom with a fabulously deep roll top bath. We felt at home all the time we were there. It was great to see my 3 year old nephew romping around inside and out, and his grandparents were more than comfortable in their ground floor bedroom. An excellent break in a great destination.

“Fantastic break with friends on the south coast of Scotland” Great long weekend to get away from the city with a group of friends - we have stayed here 3 times now. The property is a good balance of character and convenience, a great old building, always immaculate upon arrival, well equipped for a group of 8 to cook, dine and lounge. The location is ideal - very close to the coast for super views of the sea, and some great hikes and bike rides. Sitting out in the garden with a glass of wine whilst the sun drops on the sea is a real treat! Nearby towns are well worth a visit, even if just for the fantastic fish and chips and hot smoked salmon! Kirkudbright in particular is well worth a visit, a lovely harbour town with a castle and a few nice art galleries. Booking is always straightforward and the owners have been very helpful with directions and suggestions for things to do.

“Excellent value for money” Our group consisted of 17 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs and the property was great for everyone. There was plenty of room and all the bedrooms were quiet and each contained a sink and tv and plenty of storage space. It was very clean and there was more than enough crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils including a slow cooker. There was a karaoke machine which the kids loved and there was plenty of room outside to have our firework display. There are also plenty of nice walks in the area. It was easy to find as it's just off the motorway but there is no traffic noise in the property. The caretaker was very helpful and friendly and was there to greet us on arrival and departure. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms on the ground floor which are suitable for people struggling with stairs.
