“Cracking place to relax” Family connections take us to North Uist, the Loch Portain manse is in a great position, with amazing views, which can be enjoyed from a fab & comfy living room. Everything else in the house does the job needed.

“10/10 fab stay” Comfortable, clean & cosy accommodation. Provided with essentials and more, accommodation is close to lots of tourist attractions and places to see and is also near local shops and towns such as Stromness. Had an amazing stay , fell in love with Orkney and will definitely visit again. I would highly recommend this property to others.

“Amazing house, pity about the ants!” Amazing house to stay in but unfortunately it was spoiled slightly with the ants in the kitchen! Turned cooker on and they were everywhere! We were celebrating a special anniversary meal and had to deal with ants, not ideal. The owner did say they had dealt with them but obviously not fully. Apart from that the house is amazing with beautiful views from two of the bedrooms. Garden lovely but not child friendly. We did enjoy our stay.

We filled it to capacity and still felt roomy particularly kitchen and dining area.Easy to find and easy access to all amenities.Host was very helpful and responds quickly. “Charming cottage with excellent facilities and location” Stayed for a few days with our little dog Billy. We were made very welcome by Adria, the milk and wine were a lovely touch and greatly appreciated as we arrived later than anticipated. The location was just what we wanted, not to far from the beach and the local facilities. There was everything you could need for a holiday, with all the home comforts. Will return very soon.

“Lovely cottage” This was our second stay at birchtree cottage and we had another marvellous time. The property is lovely and the upgrades to en suite and family bathroom are lovely. We had friends join us this time and they very much enjoyed their stay too. We will definitely visit again.
