“Wonderful cottage in beautiful location” We stayed in Highcroft Cottage for a few days in September. We received a lovely welcome - the cottage was beautiful and very well equipped - truly home from home!
Many extra touches which made it special. Thankyou.
Hopefully we will return one day.
“Fabulous!” The barn was perfect for our girls' weekend in Bath! The property is beautifully furnished & provided a warm, cosy retreat for a relaxing stay. It is very luxurious & the lovely finishing touches made our weekend away feel extra special. It is also perfectly situated in a peaceful location yet is just a short walk from the city centre.
We would thoroughly recommend the barn. Thank you for a fantastic stay!
“What a Find” What a top place to spend a holiday. The location is very picturesque. The apartment itself is very clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and stocked with loads of condiments to help with cooking a meal. The beds were very comfortable as well.
The city of Bath is easily reached either by a boat on the Avon canal, local bus or a lovely walk along the canal which is scenic and easy. There are several nice pubs/restaurants within walking distance too.
Paul and Cristina were wonderful hosts. They provided lots of information to help make the most of your stay. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. The bottle of wine and bikkies were very much appreciated!! Bathampton is a most lovely part of the world and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend people to stay at your apartment,
We would love to return one day,
“A lovely character cottage in a friendly village” My husband, myself and my sister had a relaxing week in this cottage. It was cosy but open spaced with good light, and had flexible space. Wood was available for an open fire if needed, and satellite TV provided evening entertainment, and there were some toys and books for children in the wardrobe. There were 2 bathroom, one next to a twin and one ensuite in the master bedroom. The kitchen was modern with good facilities, and there was a washing machine outside. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the patio. Minehead and Dunster were within easy driving distance, though the buses looked good too. The village had a good pub with excellent food, though you needed to book as the pub closes if it isn't busy. The countryside around is spectacular. We spent the time visiting National Trust properties and the journey was as interesting as the properties. I would definitely visit again.
“An amazing mansion for the perfect hen weekend” 10 of us stayed here for 2 nights for a friends hen weekend.
There was plenty of room for all of us with bedrooms to spare and never a queue for the bathroom.
The sofas were all comfy and the house keeper definately attentive.
The house isn't exactly like it is in the photos but it adds to the charm and makes it more homely without being scared to ruin anything!
“Just what we needed :)” This place was just what we needed. Easy to find, with everything that you would need. Definitely a home away from home with a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable beds! Nice and quiet and within easy access to a range of places.
Our little dog loved running in the field at the back of the cabin. And the children got good use of the swimming pool (mostly had the whole pool to themselves, very surprising during the middle of August). They also loved the small playground and table tennis.
We went on wonderful walks in the surrounding woodland area and also took the short walk down to the beach and saw the lovely waterfall. Only fault we had was even though wifi is available, signal was poor from inside the cabin.
Will definitely be planning on returning. Thank you for a lovely stay.
“Lovely” Beautiful little cottage. Really quaint with pretty bright kitchen. The garden was lovely and a perfect place to sit and enjoy the sunshine. Would highly recommend this accommodation and the owner was exceptionally helpful. We will be back!
“Excellent accommodation with added personal touches” We were looking for accommodation that would enable us to have a peaceful holiday base while still being within easy reach of local attractions. Avalon Cottage was ideal. The gardens were well maintained and relaxing to sit in and although attached to the owners own property we found it to be a very private area. We were spoilt for choice on where to sit and which garden furniture to use! The cottage was very tastefully furnished to a high standard, very clean and had all the amenities that you would require for your stay. All bedding and linen was supplied including all kitchen linen. The local village pub ( just down the road ) was visited on several occasions for lunch and evening meals- we would highly recommend a visit. Avalon Cottage is ideally situated to visit National Trust and English Heritage sites. The Jurassic Coastline is within easy driving distance - we were really lucky to have sunny weather and were able to sit and enjoy the wonderful views. We would like to say a very big `thank You` to Isabel and Peter for making us feel so welcome . The added personal touches of Wine and Biscuits as a welcome gift were most appreciated - not forgetting the vase of Sweet Peas!
“fantastic” we had a fantastic stay at fishmans cottage very clean and every thing we needed , plenty of places to eat good walks, and places to visit , I would recommend this place to anyone,we loved it and will re-book at a later date.
“Beautiful house very close to the town centre” There were 3 of us staying here whilst working in Bath for a week and this was perfect walking distance to the centre of town. The facilities in the house were top notch. Before our arrival we were asked what milk we would like which was nice to know we could have a cup of tea when we arrived without having to think about it. We were also asked if we needed groceries too - (at an extra cost obvoiusly)
The kitchen was well stocked with condiments, fairy liquid etc.
The garden was lovely and big too and we socialised out there regularly.
The house was very clean and spacious and the facility to add an extra single bed into the master bedroom came in very handy for us.
“Perfect place to explore from” This is the perfect cottage to explore the area from - the village itself is lovely and quiet, with a post office and two local convenience stores a few hundred yards from the cottage, an excellent fish and chip shop a few minutes walk away and a wonderful little Tea Room next to the fish and chip shop, the pub next door to the cottage is friendly, busy but quiet - much like the village.
With a car you can cover a very wide area - from close cities such as Bath and Bristol to the middle distance places such as Wells, and the likes of Salisbury, Cheddar Gorge etc. Don't let the lack of car put you off this delightful little cottage however- we didn't have one as we took the train down to Bath and then a taxi out to Timsbury. The bus stop for Bath is just an extra few hundred yards away from the cottage past the shops. They might not be frequent but we caught the 0947 most days, meaning that we were in Bath about 30 minutes later - plenty of time to visit all the museums etc. before catching the bus home - there are some real hidden gems of museums dotted around which are well worth looking at, and all the places we visited were well worth the entrance fee. The bus stop for Bristol is a little further away on the other edge of the village, but this only took about 1 hr to get to Bristol.
The cottage itself is wonderfully homely - the small kitchen area is just big enough when on holiday as we don't tend to eat in for all three meals, meaning that even when we were cooking it wasn't anything major. There is a nice little fridge, but there is an extra one under the stairs just in case. The living room has a log burner that thankfully we didn't need to use! The leather sofa was comfy, although it wasn't great for my mum's replacement hips - we just piled the cushions dotted around the house onto it, and an extra pillow from upstairs - sorted. The dining room at the front of the property has an extensive collection of leaflets and information on the surrounding area (to which we added a few of ours) - well worth reading through some of these if you haven't worked out what you want to look at in advance.
The bedrooms are really comfy - and spacious - the quietness of the pub comes into its own in the back bedroom as once the curtains are drawn it's hard to tell it's even there! The bathroom is nicely done - and has a bath and shower, which is pretty good considering it's the smallest room upstairs. The only downside for some will be the step up into the shower - again it could have been an issue for mum, but we sorted it by just having her being helped in, and then out again.
Rachel (the owner) is really friendly and helpful - we contacted each other a few times before and during our stay, and she even helped out with letting us know that the buses didn't run that often through the village in case we needed to change our mind before finalising the booking. The coffee, milk and biscuits on arrival was just what we needed.
If we ever come back to Bath, we'll definitely be looking into staying here again.
“Excellent” We spent a week in the Coach House in March 2017 whilst our daughter was moving into new flat. The Coach House is in a delightful position just outside Bath with great views. It is extremely spacious, comfortable and well appointed.
Charlotte, the owner, lives in the adjacent house and was very welcoming and helpful.
