“Absolutely stunning cottage in a lovely setting” We loved our stay at the Byre cottage, was decorated beautifully for our christmas stay, the cottage has everything you can possibly require with lots of information on nearby places to visit. Whilst we were there we had a trip to bath and enjoyed the gorgeous thermae spa (a must!), a trip to Bristol and Longleat which was lovely. Our holiday was lovely and relaxing, thanks so much for the lovely cake on arrival. Hope to return in the future. Emily and Darren.
“Fantastic Place” I booked a weekend away for my mom's birthday and I couldn't of chosen a better place.
The accomadation was everything it said in the description and more.
As a family, we go away a lot and this is one of the best places we have stayed in. We will definitely be returning.
“A healing sanctuary of peace and beauty” I stayed here with with my daughter and two young grandchildren for what was a perfect week. We were blessed with wonderful weather but had that not been the case we would have still had a memorable time. The cottage is ideally placed for visits near or further afield and is such a pleasure to return home to. Ann and Tony have thought of absolutely everything and are charming and generous hosts. I have stayed in many self-catering properties but The Mill Barn has claimed the top spot as my favourite. I intend to return one day.
“Slightly quirky and in the middle of everywhere!” We were welcomed by Bernd and given a tour of the property and instructions regarding the use of all things electrical that needed explaining including the WiFi, which is very strong and consistent, although not surprisingly, there is little phone signal.
The property is in good order and clean enough although not spotless. It has an eclectic mix of furniture, crockery and cutlery but all do their job perfectly well and we lacked nothing. If we had needed anything, I know we could have asked.
The kitchen area is not large but has all you could need; laid out in a unique way to make best use of the open plan space.
There is a good selection of books, DVDs and board games in the property.
The shower room is small but did it's job perfectly well.
Sleeping arrangements suited us fine. We used the double bed, bunks and the bed settee in the lounge. We are four adults-parents and two grown up children.
The layout 'feels' good-relaxed and calm.
Even though you are situated in the owner's garden we still felt able to use it as ours-sitting out and wandering round the flowers, fishpond and small orchard. We never felt like we were intruding and although Bernd popped in a couple of times to check we were ok we didn't ever feel as though we were being scrutinised.
Barrington is picture postcard and Barrington Hall is a two minute walk away with public footpaths running around it-relaxing walking.
The pub is easy to walk to and friendly, the food mid priced and very tasty.
We had to drive around 45 mins to get to the regular tourist destinations such as Cheddar gorge and Wells. Slightly less to get to the coast-Lyme Regis and Charmouth.
Ilminster for supplies took about 10 mins.
We all had a lovely time and the barn suited us nicely. Thank you,Bernd and Janet.
“Fantastic holiday let” The stables is spotlessly clean & very nicely decorated. My young children loved the go-karts on the tennis court, the animals , hot tub & swimming pool. There is so much to do in th area. We can't wait to come back again.
