a comfortable, well equipped cottage in a beautiful and peaceful spot
This is one of the best holiday cottages that I've stayed in, and I've already booked my next stay here. It is thoughtfully and tastefully furnished and equipped with everything needed for a stay. Sarah offers a warm welcome, and is there to help out if needed. At the same time there's a high degree of privacy and peace. The location is gorgeous, and the village has lots to offer. I look forward to exploring more next time. …
16th century thatched cottage in Mells, one of the best villages in Somerset
Idyllic cottage in a beautiful village.
This little thatched cottage is a haven of tranquillity situated in the most peaceful and restful village we've ever found. Don't be fooled into thinking you'll be bored - Mells has plenty going on, with a buzzing atmosphere in the nearby pub, the charming walled garden and cafe (free entry, what a bonus!) and a village shop and tea rooms as well as a host of gorgeous little stalls outside many of the houses.
Rob kept us informed throughout the booking process and was there to welcome us when we arrived - the perfect host, he showed us around the cottage then left us to enjoy our holiday. We loved lazy breakfasts at the dining table in the library, with the sun pouring in through the window while we perused Rob's huge collection of interesting books.
The sweet bedroom under the eaves was comfortable and quaint with the most beautiful views fro both windows.
With everything within an easy stroll, we didn't really even need to leave Mells at all, but we were lucky enough to be there on the first Sunday of the month, when nearby Frome has its Frome Collective street market and would highly recommend a visit - its huge! Every street and spare space was filled with stalls, the town was absolutely buzzing with happy people and the atmosphere was really nice - make sure you allow a good few hours to enjoy it properly!
We loved our short visit to Mells and this was the perfect cottage to unwind in - we really didn't want to leave! Thank you for all you did to make us feel welcome, Rob, we very much appreciated your kindness! …
Perfect little cosy retreat
My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in the beginning of March. Initially I picked it as it was close to Frome and I thought we could visit the town for a couple of days and eat out. We only actually popped in to get some supplies as we found the cottage so nice we didn't want to leave!
It was very well presented, the bed was really comfortable and the log burner was a joy! We had such a relaxing time. The 2 pubs were very decent with nice food. We went on a couple of walks around the area which were great.
I would definitely return to Well cottage but perhaps for a longer stay next time!
Also the owners were incredibly helpful and any queries were answered quickly, thank you Caroline and Pat! …
