“Beautiful lodge in a beautiful location” My husband and I stayed here with our 2 boys for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The lodge is gorgeous and very private. It is well equipped with everything that you could need. There is so much to do on the doorstep that we will definitely be back to explore more.

“Beautiful, comfortable cottage” Great location for walkers as close to Dales Way. Southern Lakes conveniently accessible, obviously Northern Lakes further afield. Proximity of M6 would make travelling there easy. We found the hot tub a fantastic addition ( including the very useful dressing gowns and slippers provided for use)but would suggest a games chest for families, on wet days, would be a boon. Beds very comfortable, comfortable seating area in main living room and the smaller second sitting room was a great, cosy room to get away for some peace and quiet if wanted. Very well equipped in all areas. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and their dogs! However, as the dogs are free roaming you are unable to leave doors open for any length of time. Proximity of M6 and railway line could make sitting out in Summer a bit noisy. Inside, however, this noise is not noticeable. For a rental cottage we found it a little strange to find so many personal items and paperwork in drawers and cupboards. This being said, we had a lovely, relaxing weekend away in this beautiful cottage and would consider returning.

“Excellent” We had a really enjoyable stay with special family time. Ideal for a large party with plenty of space so we did not feel on top of each other. Great location too for exploring the Lakes. A lovely bungalow we would highly recommend.

“Comfortable, clean and well equipped” Had a lovely stay here with 5 friends. Extremely well equipped homely lodge with gas BBQ, lots of chairs outside on the decking, wine on arrival was a lovely touch. Owner was friendly and efficient when emailing details. Whole leisure park has free wi-fi. Only thing is the 3rd bedroom is extremely small compared to the other 2. Overall I highly recommend.

“Lovely trip” A lovely apartment, well laid out property, with attention to detail. The hot tub was a big bonus and all the rooms were clean and spacious. In a great location, in walking distance to pubs and restaurants. Would stay again and recommend to friends and family.

“Apartments A and B” We stayed in Cath’s apartments for three nights for my Mum’s 70th. Both apartments were modern, clean and welcoming. Cath had left us fresh milk in the fridge and the Christmas card and chocolates were a lovely touch. The lounge in apartment A was a good size and accommodated everyone comfortably (6 adults and 3 kids) The kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tubs and facilities were fantastic, we especially enjoyed the outdoor hot tub, star gazing whilst drinking champagne was amazing even in December! The location of apartments are perfect, a 15 min walk into Kendal and short drive to Windermere. Cath was very accommodating, and responded almost instantly to any emails, nothing was too much trouble, she recommended local eateries, including the Strickland Arms which everyone thought was wonderful. Overall a lovely break away, would certainly recommend, thank you Cath Xx

“Birthday treat” Fabulous birthday treat with the family and dog barney. Appartment was very spacious and clean with everything we needed. Even a bottle of milk, box of chocolates and a welcome card. The hot tub was well used even in the rain! Kendal was very dog friendly, barney was made a fuss of everywhere we went. Would certainly recommend The Gate of Kendal to eat in, food and service second to none and barney was even given his own bowl and side plate of treats. Will definitely be returning.

“Perfection” Woodside is in a perfect location for the Lakes - Windermere, Coniston, Grasmere and more. The owners clearly take pride in keeping the cottage in immaculate condition and with excellent facilities including Wifi, a good TV and DVD player, a dog guard to stop the dogs straying upstairs and a phone. The garden was ideal for us with two dogs - enclosed and you could sit listening to a babbling brook. We were supplied by the owners with really useful notes on the area - shopping, walks, things to see and visit and how to get the best from the cottage. We wanted for nothing and enjoyed the area and then settling down in the cosy lounge exhausted. So many nice things in the area and we are seasoned Lakes visitors! The lakeside terrace of the Lakeside Hotel with a glass of wine (and a beer!)... open to non-residents until 5pm. Ducks, lapping of the lake, occasional boats and sheer relaxation. Early morning walks with the dogs at Fell Foot (just round on the other side of the lake) - great for walking dogs, next to the lake and the River Leven. If you want a bit of life then Bowness has lots of cafes, restaurants, shops and boats for hire. We are vegan and enjoyed bruschetta at the Lakeside Hotel, a fabulous choice at the Lancrigg hotel near Grasmere, caters only for veggies but a bit pricey, Tapas and Thai curry in Bowness. 10/10 to the Owners who telephoned on the first evening to check we were happy - we were! Thank you.
