“Beautiful apartment in an ideal location” We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment which is very cosy and well equipped. We loved the newly refurbished bathroom and the heated floor was very luxurious. All the main facilities in Ambleside are just a short walk away (albeit down a sharp gradient). Although we were visiting outside of the main season there were still plenty of good restaurants open with a good atmosphere.

“Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location” We had a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage, 3 adults was a bit cosy but we were lucky enough to be able to eat outside in the grassed courtyard every evening. Generally very well equipped - only problem we had is that the fridge/freezer is actually a fridge with a tiny icebox inside but the residents in number one came to our rescue and let us keep some frozen food in their freezer. The residents around the courtyard helped to make the holiday, the communal BBQ they invited us to join in with on the last night meant a lovely end to a very relaxing break. Would definitely return.

“Lovely group of cottages set in spectacular location with breathtaking views” The spacious cottage is one of five located in a valley and set in rural countryside approximately 1 mile from Ambleside with ample parking and is very safe for young children. On arrival there was a vase of fresh flowers, milk in the fridge, a range of sachets for drinks and a plate of biscuits which we thought was a very nice touch. The cottage is upside down so the lounge and kitchen/diner are upstairs. The views are spectacular. The decor is very pleasant, in keeping with a country cottage, pine and squashy settees which are comfortable and homely. The facilities are very good. The log burner in the lounge is electric but is a nice feature. The kingsize bed was very comfortable. The en-suite is well-appointed, all towels and linen are provided, the shower is very efficient and there was always plenty of hot water. We found the use of free wi fi very useful. All the furnishings and fittings are of good condition. There is a back door leading to a pretty shared patio area. The Information Room is full of brochures with ideas of things to do and places to go. There are many walks you can do from the cottage without using your car. It is an excellent location for exploring The Lake District. The scenery in Autumn is magnificent. A little expensive but worth it.

“Cosy, very comfortable, well equipped accomodation in a beautiful location.” The accommodation is just big enough for two people but there is all the equipment needed. It is spotlessly clean and comfortable. It was great to be able to step outside and sit in a courtyard with a lovely view. The garden and courtyard are shared with the other cottages. The area is excellent for walking. It is a great location for the central and southern Lake District. There is a reliable bus service through Ambleside. The information in the Reception area is very useful especially other guests comments on local eating places. There is no large supermarket very near, so it is best to come prepared.

“Fabulous place” Stayed here for four days with my wife and two sons, aged 16 & 10. The cottage is fabulous and has everything you need. Owners left a welcome pack of milk, bread, orange juice and a bottle of wine. Cottage is spotlessly clean. Great location for the town, loads of places to eat and drink. Great for walks and close to ferry. Great to have a parking space too. Would definitely recommend.

“This place really ticked all the boxes” A beautiful setting, so private yet close enough to Ambleside. All staff from the booking to the arrival were excellent. The kitchen had all we needed and the extra touches of having board games, high chair, stair gates, XBox were so helpful with children. Very comfortable.

“Grove Cottages are idyllic and tranquil, giving top class accommodation.” We stayed in Middle Grove cottage, it was top class. Spotlessly clean, every need catered for, nice touches included flowers on the table along with a plate of home made biscuits, dishwasher tablets, laundry liquid, washing up liquid and some basic toiletries. The manager of the cottages Sarah was very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. When booking the cottage Andy one of the owners was really helpful and made the process very easy. The setting for these cottages is idyllic and tranquil, but close enough to Ambleside that we could walk in and sample some of the lovely eating places - our favourite was Zefferellis. We most certainly intend to return for another fabulous break, and have already recommended Grove Cottages to our friends, family and colleagues.

“Beautiful Cottage” This cottage is perfect for couples. Everything is there with lovely view and it’s a great location to explore the lakes, will definitely go back. The cottage was hard to find at first as postcode given doesn’t match location according to Sar Nav. It is also on main road so a little difficult to see pulling out. However, when inside the cottage you do not hear the noise of the road.

The Old School House Hawkshead
Superb holiday accomodation!

We rented the whole of the Old School House for our family weekend get together. The accomodation was brilliant and in easy reach of the lakes for walking, swimming and kayaking. We hope to book again next year for a longer stay. … see more
Green End House
Fantastic

Paul the owner was very welcoming and room and facilities are great. Our room has a view straight out into the local fields and is nicely tucked away yet accessible. The house overlooks hawks head a short 5 minute walk and you are in the pub and near shops. Lots around the area all a scenic walk or short drive. For the money was amazing and he does a fantastic breakfast Paul offers directions and advice to all local hot spots and images are of Tarn Howls which was a holiday highlight. Advice is not to wear cream shorts and sit on wet ground during walks as per the image If going book all meals in advance as pubs are fully booked normally a few days in advance and can only sit in limited beer gardens when space is available.see more
The Sorting Office - Spacious Modern Home with parking in Central Ambleside
Stunning little gem

This was something new for us as usually stay in good quality hotels. Opted for this apartment as it was central and had car parking space, hassle free which is important to us. With the current Covid restrictions it turned out to be the perfect choice. The apartment is beautifully appointed, very comfortable, quiet and warm. We had everything we needed and more. Would definitely stay again if in Ambleside. Huge choice of cafes and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Lots of lovely independent shops too. The communications from the agent were excellent from start to finish. Highly recommend.see more

Scandale Bridge Cottage
Pleasant Stay

Stayed for 3 nights as a group of 6, including two small children and two dogs. Overall it was an enjoyable stay - I made the mistake of reading some of the other reviews about the properly which did lead to some trepidation, but this was not founded. Cottage location is excellent - only a short walk into Ambleside, although this is frankly irrelevant. People should know where properties are before they book, the houses don't move location post-booking..... It is on a busy road but it is not noisy. Downstairs area is spacious and well equipped. Furniture is fine. Yes, the sofa backs are a little firm but we were not expecting luxurious Italian leather sofas. Upstairs rooms are a bit smaller, a couple of bedrooms could be considered cramped but if you only intend to use them for sleeping then they are fine. Beds are also fine - we found them perfectly acceptable. Cleanliness was also fine - but some cobwebs and dust in the shower cubicle could have been cleaned. There were some drawbacks / issues which the owner could look to address, they are generally minor - not as earth-shatteringly traumatic as some of the other reviews would suggest. 1. Some of the door closing mechanisms (clearly installed for fire safety) need adjusting to avoid doors being slammed shut as soon as you stop holding them. This is not only noisy and irritating at night, but potentially a hazard to small children. 2. The shower taps need the strength of Hercules to operate - I am amazed that these have not yet been broken off the wall due to the force required to physically move them. 3. The TV could not be tuned into any channels - suspect this was a problem with the aerial / cable rather than the TV itself. It didn't bother us as we hooked up a games console to stream TV (internet is pretty good) - but other guests may be put out. 4. Limited fridge space - if you plan to bring lots of beer, then you'll have to leave it outside the door. Fine in autumn / winter months. Other than that, no significant complaints. Owner was also very good with responding to queries prior to our visit. Ultimately, we enjoyed our stay - which is what matters. see more
Lowfold - Semi-Detached Cottage Minutes Away From Beatrix Potter's Famous Home
Great house in a great location

We’ve just returned from a stay at Lowfold. Sarah was very accommodating and helpful in the run up to our stay and Yvette was equally helpful whilst we were there. The house is very comfortable and we felt ‘at home’. The views from the house are amazing - we slept with the curtains open so we could wake up to the views across the fields and down the Esthwaite water. The house is equally well located for the play park, tower bank arms, trout fishery cafe, hill top and walks to moss Eccles tarn - all of which we enjoyed. We are already looking forward to our return next year!see more
