“A lovely first experience of the Lake District” Juniper cottage is a traditional stone built cottage that was a cosy and warm place to stay at whilst exploring the Lake District. The cottage was clean and had everything that you would need especially a washer/dryer for rain soaked clothes, a dish washer and there was WiFi provided. The location was spot on, it was a short walk into the center of ambelside and also to lake windermere where you can buy a freedom of the lake ticket and spend the whole day hoping on and off at ports around the lake. The cottage was very dog friendly and there were some pubs and cafes that allowed dogs in.
I will definitely be returning to Juniper cottage with my dog.
“Wonderful family holiday in perfect location!” Pudding Cottage near ambleside, and just across the road from the Lake District Visitor's Centre, is absolutely beautiful and is perfect for 6 guests- we went with our two young children and Grandparents too. It is cosy and pretty and smart. The owner is friendly and helpful.
You could stay in the beautiful ambleside area for a whole week with plenty of fantastic places to visit and walks for all abilities. It is also possible to venture further afield very easily. We explored lots of NT properties and had a beautiful boat trip too.
The membership for the Spa and pool at the Hotel just 5 minutes away is great and family friendly but elegant too.
“Great comfortable central location” Not easy to find, due to out of date instructions and tight access down an alley. Poor first impression from outside. Access for the infirm would be difficult, due to the numerous metal steps. Parking is tight for a large car. That's the bad points.
Inside it is a different story. There were four of us (two couples), the property suited us very well. The kitchen was of a good size, with a large dining table and chairs. It is equipped with an oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, dish washer (bring own powder) and radio/CD player. The lounge was very comfortable with two sofas, it had a music system, a large television (Freeview) and a selection of games. The oriel window in the lounge makes for a good location to sit and watch the world go by. The two bedrooms were well dressed and of good size - each having its own radio/clock/iPod docking station, plus a wardrobe and bedside units. The ensuite to bed 1 was excellent, although the 'house' bathroom may be ready for a refresh.
The accommodation offers easy access to the town and to local restaurants, including a great value Italian opposite. Ambleside itself is a good place to base yourself in the Lake District.
Overall we would thoroughly recommend.
“Lovely apartment” Had a great week? Kids loved the place. Very well furnished and finished. Love the split level. Convenient for town centre and the bus stop. It might rain but my kids love the open top bus ride between Grassmere and Windermere and to be honest so do the grown ups. It's a bit of a narrow entry with the car but once you get used to it, its fine. Would certainly look to book again.
Booking was easy and straightforward. No problems and everything was as described. Thank you.
“A pleasant property, fantastic location.” Very central; set in the heart of ambleside. Great location to begin walking or simply visit shops, restaurants etc.
Property clean and tidy upon arrival, exactly as advertised.
Maintenance issue was responded to promptly.
“Hidden gem in the heart of the town” A lovely small cottage just a stone throw away from all the shops and restaurants in town. We took our newly acquired rescue dog with us and found dog bowls and rugs left in the cottage for him. The cottage is of a good standard and very clean and plenty big enough for our family of three. Although the cottage is in the centre of town it was surprising quiet. The only disppointing thing is that the big boys have moved in, like tescos and gregs. Lets hope there aren't many more as it is so much better shopping in the small independent shops. Can't wait to go back.k
