“Lovely stay in cosy cottage with great views” The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. We particularly liked the kitchen with the wood burner, and the large lounge upstairs. Very dog friendly downstairs with tiled flooring, and enclosed garden outside. Enjoyed our morning walks around the fishing lake as well. Peaceful location, but close enough to Cockermouth and Keswick, Loweswater and Buttermere. Washing machine and tumble dryer were a bonus as we did have a muddy mountain bike ride. We would definitely go back again.

“Perfect location for a genuine escape away” We stayed for a week in Esther's Barn with our two daughters (5 and 11) and our labrador. The views are fantastic and the kids fell in love with their 'upside down house'! French doors lead from the dining area and the seating area to the decking overlooking the fields. Lots of space for the kids to run around in and a totally safe environment. The weather was fantastic which meant we could take advantage of the superb outdoor bbq area where the views are simply stunning. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and luxurious - marvellous showers with fluffy towels on hand and spacious bedrooms. The kitchen is well equipped with a welcome pack to please everyone - local beers, locally grown organic produce, plum cake and chocolate - excellent!! This is self catering at its best - no need to worry about bedding, towels, tea, coffee, washing materials etc - its all provided. Marna (the owner) greeted us on arrival and showed us around the accommodation and the surrounding land as well as giving us tips on what to do and where to go. On our last day, Marna suggested a trip to Buttermere - fantastic - breathtaking scenery, fabulous walk around the lake and a great pub for lunch. Lots to do but be prepared - walking boots are a must as are wellies for tramping around fields on wet days. What we liked best - the location and the feeling of being 'away from it all'. What we liked least? - the 1,000 piece jigsaw that was impossible to complete in a week!

“A lovely place to stay” The house was absolutely spotless when we arrived. It was very comfortable and had a really well equiped kitchen. The views from the sitting room were fabulous, we could see the fells with snow on the tops. There are also some lovely pubs around the area serving good food. I would definately recommend it to friends and family.

“Luxurious and eco-friendly accommodation in lovely surroundings” This accommodation is built and maintained to a really high standard as well as being beautiful, comfortable, luxurious and environmentally sensitive: a rare combination. Great for families as the surroundings are tranquil, flat (for bikes/trikes) and have short trails to wander and a beck to paddle/dip in. We've been two years in a row and will definitely go back again.
