“Great stay near Coniston” We had a lovely stay despite mixed weather. The neighbours were lovely and very helpful. We enjoyed having water access and kayaked to Peel Island and to the far end near Low Water End where we used to stay. House was very comfortable and we appreciated having a place for our bikes. We would be interested in stating again if possible. Only hiccup was the range cooker as only 3 rings seemed to work - which it took us while to realise.
Many thanks for use of a great house in a great location!
“Ash Gill Cottage. Lovely house, good location, great local pubs, very lovely scenery” The location of house was just right for us. Close enough to Coniston to get there easily. Quiet and peaceful. House was lovely. Everything we wanted. Nice garden.
Two lovely pubs within 200 metres. Great food at pubs. Lovely walks close by and lovely scenery.
“Peaceful, lovely serene location next to the lake” Our family of 6 (2 adults, 2 children & 2 dogs) have just returned from a lovely 3 day break at Blea Brows, Coniston.
The cottage has everything you need and is in a perfect location.
The garden was a little sun trap even amongst the trees and was lovely to sit out and listen to the birds.
The lake was beautiful and the children and dogs enjoyed a swim.
We took a boat trip from Coniston which was lovely and headed over to Brantwood, John Ruskins former home. The gardens here are lovely and highly recommend the cafe for supersize lunch as the portions are huge.
Coniston old man is a good climb but unfortunately we didn't get around to it this time but surely next time.
The little village has a few pubs but we cooked back at the cottage, on one occasion we took a trip into Hawshead (approx 15mins drive) and had a wander around one of our favourite spots.
The church here is the most beautiful we have ever seen and has a lovely feel to it.
The queens pub serves delicious food an the little ice cream shop opposite certainly should be renamed the giant ice cream shop they are amazing!
The cottage was very comfortable and we will definitely stay again.
The Nodwell family
“Homely and comfortable.” A very well-equipped home from home where we spent a restful week. It is well situated for walks nearer the coast and for the central Lakes. The piano was a joy as we have a musician in the family. Excellent shopping in Ulverston, just 5 miles away and a nice pub with good pub food a short walk away. It wasn't quite as isolated as we'd thought as it was joined with another cottage. The kitchen and lounge are on the first floor which makes eating/snacking outside a bit of a mission. However, we spent a very comfortable week there and did some excellent walking without having to drive too far.
“Swang's cottage” Stayed at this cottage for a week with my family & dog. Its a lovely cottage with lots of character & in a good location for exploring the southern part of the lake's. The two pub's nearby are really good, with the royal oak being a particular favourite of ours. Lots of nice little touches in the cottage to make it feel homely & we'll more than likely be returning in the future.
“Great apartment in perfect location.” A really nice recently renovated one bed apartment situated within walking distance of all amenities and a perfect base for walking. Great space for off road parking around the rear which was an advantage as local car parks very expensive. Inside the apartment it was clean, fresh, quiet and had all the accessories for our stay. Coniston has four great pubs offering nice food and plenty of real ales to choose from but our favourite for price and quality was The Ship Inn, approximately 10 min walk along the main road to Torver. If you wish to climb the old man and prefer a more gentle approach I suggest going along Walna Scar Road then up via Goat's Water to the peak descending by Low Water. A big thank you to Steve & Angela who couldn't have been more helpful during our stay, good luck with the project and we will definitely be back in the future.
“Beautiful cottage with amazing views” We booked at the last minute, which the owners kindly accommodated. The arrangements to get the keys worked well and the cottage was pristine when we arrived. The location is great for several reasons: the views, the garden, the pub two minutes walk away, Coniston village about 10 minutes walk and the lake about 15 minutes walk away. There is a lovely cafe and a boat and cycle hire shop at the waterfront.
The photos of the inside of the cottage don't do it justice. It was perfect for our family - my husband, me and or two sons (15 & 12).
I highly recommend this property for a trip to the lakes and hope to return again soon.
“Copper view cottage Coniston” We had a fantastic stay at this lovely cottage very well equipped comfortable & cosy couldn't fault it at all location perfect views wonderful was reluctant to leave hopefully we will stay again
“Perfect home from home in a fabulous location” The apartment is immacutely clean with a modern decor and everything you could need, perfect for our family of fours trip to Coniston. Angela is very welcoming and the little touch's like milk etc are very thoughtful. The location is perfect, only a couple of minutes stroll and you are in the heart of Coniston. The lakes are stunning and coming home to a warm and cosy apartment is most welcome
“Well equipped apartment in a great location” The location is excellent with good local amenities within walking distance. The apartment has recently been renovated and was fresh and clean. The big plus was that we were able to book 4 nights instead of having to commit to a weekly let. The kitchen was well equipped and the living room was very nice. The only slight negative was that the bedroom was quite small, but it wasn't a big problem. The owner was very friendly. We didn't have the best weather but we were still able to get out and do some local walking each day - the walk to Tarn Hows is recommended.
“Beautiful Cottages!” We have just come back from a long weekend staying in Tyan & Tethera and had a wonderful time! Beautiful rural location with fantastic views of the snow capped mountains! Emma the owner had thought of everything you could possibly need- with lots of little extras- eggs, bread, cakes, butter- even a bottle of wine! All the bedrooms were beautifully decorated and so comfortable- We are not dog owners but the level cleanliness was immaculate. We would definitely recommend and would stay again!
“Perfect base for the Coniston Hills” We have just spent Wed-Sat in appt 3, using the location as a base for some winter walking in the Coniston Hills. Coniston itself is very quaint and beautiful, well served with pubs, a local chippy, and a bring-your-own booze Indian restaurant, which we found to be excellent. The appt was pristine, open since last May yet you'd have thought it was opened yesterday. Full cooking facilities, a modern bathroom with good strong shower, very clean, iron and ironing board. We did two very big walks during our stay, what we loved was setting off from and arriving at the appts after the walks, dirty kit dropped at the front door, avoids the need to jump in a car to travel back. The appts are close enough to the hills to just 'walk in' from there.
“Luxury cottage” A wonderful sanctuary to return to after a mountain walk or cycle round the lake. Every detail of this home has been considered from the excellent facilities in the kitchen to the comfiest bed you could sleep in.
Wonderful views and welcoming neighbours. A great place to relax on holiday.
“Serene and lovely” Sunny Bank offers three charming cottages created from a 300 year old corn mill yet it has very modern bath and kitchens plus free laundry on site. There is lake access and a boat on the property as well as a babbling beck to keep you company. The owner and caretaker make sure your stay is nice one. Best yet, Sunny Bank is on the West Bank of Coniston Water, far from the madding crowds of Windemere.
“Peace & Quiet” If you want a get away from it all holiday , this is it. You are miles from anywhere .Very friendly hosts that leave you alone, but are there if you need them . When you arrive there is a carrot cake a loaf of bread, and bottle of wine on the worktop and milk in the fridge. Every thing in the property is top notch . The bed is very comfy and the lounge is as well.
“70th birthday” We rented this property because of its location and the fact that it could easily accommodate our family. All the family were impressed and enjoyed their time there but it would have been better for us if we could have rented Friday to Friday or access the property earlier on the Saturday. I understand the reason for not being able to get in before 5 p.m. and the owner was helpful and said that if we arrived early we could go into the garden or the grounds. The house is very well equipped and the Bathrooms are of a very high standard. I was a bit sad that previous tenants had not looked after the dining chairs or kept the kitchen cupboards and pans tidy . We had a forewarned power cut but the only problem it caused us was that we could not work out how to reset the cooker and microwave clocks. Manuals would have been useful or maybe I did not find them
More than was expected was provided e.g light bulbs , dishwasher tablets .washing powder.
I would definitely recommend this property to others and have already done so. The views are wonderful and we felt very much at home Thank you for a memorable 70th birthday celebration Janet
“Puddleduck House, Coniston” The house is situated close to all village shops , pubs and bus stop . Rooms are well fitted and decorated, with a modern bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and conveniently laid out.
Outside, the garage will take two modest-sized cars, and leads to a small, pleasant garden with views up to the Coniston Old Man range. A good spot to lounge in the sunshine with a glass of something!.
An excellent place to stay, particularly if the weather is good as it was for us all week.
“Lovely position” Robin Cottage provided us with good accommodation, excellent placement for our holiday in the Lakes and lovely surroundings for a friendly game of boule!
We stayed there early July this year when the weather in the Lakes was perfect for hiking. From Sunny Bank it was easy to get to Borrowdale, Eskdale, Watewater and of course to climb the Old Man.
The cottage was comfortable and enabled us to cater for ourselves when we wanted too.
We did try to contact the caretaker but unfortunately had no luck with his phone number. This was regarding the hot water which was a bit cool for washing up and showers. However we managed and coped!
“Fantastic property with excellent facilities in a wonderfully unique location” We had a delightful time staying in this fabulous farmhouse, which is extremely comfortable and characterful and has a beautiful big garden. One of the most exceptional aspects of staying there was being able to stroll straight out of the back door every morning and down through the meadow to the edge of Conniston Water to make the tough decision of whether we would swim, take out our kayaks, sail our dinghy, or head up onto the common for a walk with stunning views.

The Apartments Coniston Three 1st floor
I couldn’t rate this place highly enough! Lovely big house containing modern apartments, finished to a high standard and were spotless. Angela was a great host, little things like leaving fresh milk in the fridge and tea and coffee for us. There were 5 people in our group staying in the apartment and it was comfortable for a long weekend, it would also be ideal for families. Great location, a very short walk away from the pubs in Coniston and a great base to start a hike. Also great value for money!
Can’t wait to come back! Thanks Angela …
Stunning Victorian Holiday House in Coniston with 6 Bedrooms and 4 Bathrooms
Lovely house in a great location
We wanted to book a place for 6 couples for the weekend to climb The Old Man and this place was perfect.
Lovely house, big lounge, 6 large well decorated bedrooms with comfy beds. Everything just worked. Great location meant that we could park the cars up when we arrived and we didn't have to use them again until it was time to leave.
Coniston is a great village to stay in with plenty of pubs and options to eat and little gift shops and tourist information.
Don't usually give 5 stars but this place is worth it. …

Well equipped apartment in a great location
The location is great - very close to shops and pubs. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is nice and spacious. The big plus is that we were able to book a short stay (3 nights). This was our 2nd visit and I'm sure we will visit again some time in the future. …
