“Amazing place! Amazing cottage!” The cottage was central to Aberdare but once you are through the doors you hear nothing except the bubbling of the hot tub. Very private and the Christmas decorations were very festive and welcoming. Hosts were always a phone call away if you needed anything at all. Thank you so much for a wonderful much needed holiday. So much to do around the area there just wasn’t enough time to go everywhere. Big Pit coal mine and museum and Four waterfalls walk were definitely highlights, only to come home and snuggle up in front of the wood burner and choose from a huge selection of films and shows on Netflix. Really was totally relaxing with everything we needed. Thank you Diane and Bill!

“Fantastic! Perfect get-away!” This was, by far the best self catering holiday we have ever had; the area was quiet and relaxing and very private. Cottage was beautifully decorated and well equipped, our older daughter (who is in a wheelchair) was able to access all areas of the house and garden and younger daughter loved picking veggies for dinner. Even the dog had a great holiday. Even though we managed to break the door off the washing machine on our second day (oops!), Joan and Jerry were very obliging, ordered the new part immediately and offered us the use of their machine. The pool was an added bonus and both of our girls spend every day wandering from the house to the pool in their costumes. This place is a real treat and we'll definitely we back. Pure relaxation!

“Practically perfect in every way!” The amount of space and different things to do either on the farm or within easy driving instance made Combrew Farm an ideal place to stay for all three generations of our family. We found all the facilities we could have wished or including power showers and well furnished rooms for the older members of the family to any numbers of small animals for the kids to feed with any leftover food! Fitness conscious children were able to play tennis and badminton (rackets supplied!), swim against the current in the indoor pool and generally keep fit in the small gym. Overall a resounding success, in no small part due to Sue, the welcoming owner.

“All you need, clean tidy and presentable” Stayed at Tuckers retreat during Feb half term 2015 with my wife and 2 teenage boys and our small dog. The accommodation is excellent, everything we needed and even that which we didn't, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi large TV plus TV in the main bedroom. 2 bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Boys made good use of the well heated swimming pool which features jacuzzi and water jets. Owners Sue and John made us very welcome supplying complimentary milk and some eggs which you can buy for a £1 when you run out. Good walk from the house to Fremington Quay which tired out the dog on a daily basis. Good area to explore too, recommend Clovelly, Lynton and Lynmouth and the Valley of Rocks. Would love to go back one day, its faultless.

“Great venue for large group” I booked New Inn House for a weekend for 10 friends to celebrate a birthday. The house is a fantastic venue for a big get together, and we loved making the most of the tennis court, big lawns, great big dining room table, and the very well appointed kitchen. The house was perfectly clean, the beds were good, the linen clean. I would highly recommend New Inn House.

“A home away from home!” This was our 2nd stay at Combrew Farm in Courtyard Cottage and it was every bit as delightful as the first time. The cottage is immaculate and Sue and her staff were wonderful. Our stay was over Christmas and they were so thoughtful to have set up a decorated Christmas Tree in the cottage. Everything you could possibly need for an extended stay was provided. It really does feel like a home away from home and we will be back!

“A perfect base for a family holiday” We stayed in Rose Barn cottage which is two cottages with a connecting door, the cottages were very spacious which was great with 6 children and 5 adults. There was plenty of crockery cutlery and glasses and a fabulous large table which seated everyone at mealtimes. The pool was enjoyed by everyone it was very warm and very clean. The play park with the 3 large trampolines were very much enjoyed by the children. We hope to visit again soon.

“What a unique place to stay” Our large family group of 16 (8 adults & 8 children) recently stayed at Hafod Lodge for 5 nights. We absolutely loved the character of the house ! We had plenty of room to accommodate everyone and the kids were well entertained with the pool and spa. Mary was extremely helpful with directions to the local amenities (only a short 5 min drive away to a very large supermarket). The house is well located close to Cardiff for sightseeing, but is also a great retreat away from the city. We would recommend Hafod Lodge to anyone seeking a relaxing stay in Wales and hopefully will return in the future.

“Perfect accommodation in a great setting” I was looking for a venue for a slightly older stag weekend, it needed to sleep 21 of us in comfort, a very large and capable kitchen dining room, easy parking for a number of cars and a layout that drew us all together. The two barns are set in a great position at the head of a small valley, the sun pours onto one terrace in the morning, and they keep the light all day. They are beautifully converted, with great attention to detail and quality, and the list of 'proper extras' really set this rental apart from others. So often extras are there but either not fully working, or the table tennis table is buried under piles of rubbish in an outhouse! The sauna was great and easy to use, there was unlimited dry firewood for the stove, the table tennis table was in a very well lit and central location, as was the pool table. The kitchen and its equipment were of good quality, and worked well for our large post mountain biking feast, and cooked breakfasts. Showers all worked perfectly with plenty of hot water. Lots of planning has gone into the layout of these two barns and it made such a difference to the dynamics of our large group. Veronica Hollis, the owner, was very easy to communicate with before we arrived, and when we did she was very welcoming, and explained everything we needed to know. We all felt it was a great place for a few families to get together for a holiday, and would recommend the barns to anyone.

“Lovely place to escape to after our wedding” I spent a three nights at the Stables with my new wife following our wedding. It's a beautiful location and the stables were very clean, well maintained, with all mod-cons (except wi-fi, which was a bit of a blessing), and everything worked perfectly. We were surprised there was no cafetiere, but upon enquiry, were astonished when there was a knock at the door the following day and a brand new one was delivered. This is indicative of the attention to detail and level of care Lisa and her husband (whose name I have forgotten - sorry) put into this property. We had a great time and would love to go back. Heads-up: approach North Stoke from Bath Road unless you have a good sense of adventure. My wife, knowing my love of country lanes, navigated me from the East and onto the Cotswold Way thinking it was a road (Google maps on my Blackberry, in fairness, did make it look like a road)... be advised: It isn't. Regrettably, I never did find out if it was passable.

“Customer service & cleanliness of The Old Barn were second to none!” We decided to book 7 nights away at The Old Barn in March 2014. After reading some of the reviews we were slightly apprehensive. On arrival that changed from apprehension to excitement for our pending holiday. Our first impression of The Old Barn was how spacious/clean/well kept it was. The kitchen was a good size and I have to say very clean, all mod cons were inc. The kitchen lead out onto a patio area & hot tub (perfect to chill out in the evening with a glass of wine!). There is a sauna room that we used every day and a small tv room which my teenage son used a lot! The bathrooms were nicely decorated and clean, the bedrooms that we used were not very large but they were sufficient for us, the beds were very comfy and hubby and I are going to purchase a super-king after sleeping on one at The Old Barn (it was very very comfy!). The onsite facilities were: a games room which I think was a converted outbuilding, with a pool table down stairs (I have to say that the stairs were quite steep) and a ping pong table upstairs. I think it's a great room for kids/teens to go and hang out there is nothing valuable so no need to worry about breakages it is what it is a no frills games room. The swimming pool was great it was so nice to go for a swim when you wanted to, there are scheduled times to use the pool for each property which is great if you only want your party in the pool area. Management were willing to work around suitable times for us to use the pool when we wanted to use it which was a bonus, I would say the swimming pool room does need upgrading and am sure in due course it will be done. There was also a small tennis court at the front of Ormidale house, it defiantly is not Wimbledon it is more an area where you can play a game of tennis with your kids without fear of breaking anything/destroying the grass. It did remind me of a tennis court at my old secondary school a no frills area to play. I have to say that our overall experience of The Old Barn & facilities that it has to offer was a great one, we really enjoyed our stay and left feeling very relaxed. The management/customer service was fantastic and nothing was to much trouble. For me one of the best bits was how clean and tidy the kitchen area was all the utensils/pots/pans were very clean and I did not have to wash anything before using it.

“Beautiful Place To Stay” We would like to thank Tim & Sara for a lovely stay at Logie Country House. The accomodation is perfect for famlies or groups of friends with plenty of space and entertainment for everyone, the whole house was very clean and really comfortable, we loved the wood burner at night and the kids have been pleading for a wii since we got home!! The little touches make a big difference like getting chicken food for the kids ( to feed the chickens not themselves!! )or fishing rods when we found out the river was stocked with brown trout,and the owners make a big effort to ensure you have a comfortable & enjoyable stay without being intrusive. We can't wait to return when the pool will be finished next year.
