“Amazing hospitality and accomodations.” Our stay at the lovely Villa Ortensia just outside of Sarzana, began with meeting Francesca. She was very warm, friendly, informative and sincerely concerned that our visit would be memorable. We were excited to see the beautiful hillside villa with the breathtaking views in every directon. The house was warm, charming and spotlessly clean. Francesca had surprized us with treats for our evening meal along with wine and breakfast items. The bathrooms were also supplied with all our esential needs. This was truly an unexpected surprise.
All the rooms were handsomely decorated with antiques and family memoriabilia. Francesca's attention to detail were greatly appreciated and we enjoyed the house, grounds, pool, terraces more than we could imagine. It was so wonderful that we chose to spend some days just relaxing at home.
Yes there is an eight minute ride up the hill to get there, but it was well worth it. It became easier with each trip. Of our entire trip (3 weeks) this was our favorite for both the accomodations and the hospitality. We can't wait to return.
Thank you Francesca.
“Fabulous” Beautiful place. Debra and Salvo and their lovely daughter made this place a home. We enjoyed their company and the hospitality. Got to the house and found homemade wine from Salvo and the best cannoli we have ever had waiting for us. They were very helpful in finding places in Sicily. This home is in the middle to lemon groves with a terrace at the side and is just the best place to come home to after a long day of sightseeing. Sicily is a must for anyone going to Italy as it is indescribably beautiful. Stay with Debra and Salvo for a memorable vacation.
“Spacious and comfortable base to explore Lake Garda” Condo Dante was a very spacious and light-filled apartment with an ideal location just across a pedestrian-only street from the medieval gate to the old town center of Riva del Garda. Everything in Riva, from great restaurants and bars, to shopping and excursion boats, are a mere five to ten minute walk away. The apartment included the use of a dedicate indoor garage space half a block away, so it was a breeze to load and unload luggage or hop in the car for an excursion along the breathtaking roads around the lake. There is a small grocery store literally right across the street from the apartment building entrance, where all the necessities can be found, and a much larger grocery just a few blocks away.
The apartment has a nicely remodeled and fully-equipped kitchen, as well as a clothes washer and dryer (a rarity in Italy). The large and well-furnished balcony enjoys views of the city gate and of the spectacular mountains that ring the town.
The owners, who live in England, are great to deal with and very responsive. The owner's uncle lives full-time just a few miles away. This is the gentleman who met us at the apartment and showed us the ropes, and it gave us great peace of mind to know he lived so close by.
Riva del Garda is a lovely and scenic town. A little on the touristy side, but with great bars and restaurants. Many excursion boats leave from Riva for visits to other lakeside towns. The roads from Riva are, as I mentioned above, offer some really spectacular drives, but since there's limited access (you are, after all, surrounded by mountains), there can be a lot of traffic.
Riva is definitely a magnet for many outdoor sport types, with great hiking and mountain biking trails, and reliable constant breezes for wind surfing. However, we were more than satisfied sitting outside at our favorite bar, sipping some of the local wine and soaking in the amazing views of snow-capped mountains rising out of the lake.
Great excursions along the lake include Sirmione, Limone, Bardolino, Malcesine and Desenzano. You can reach these either by boat or by car. Don't miss Gabriele D'Annunzio's villa Il Vittorial in Gardone, for a bit of bizarre and creepy Italian history. Also highly recommended is the scenic 45 minute drive north to visit the city of Trento, a real undiscovered gem.
All in all, we were delighted with our stay at Condo Dante, and cannot recommend it more highly
Vineyards and olive groves in Chianti, canals and gondoliers in Venice, and ancient ruins in Rome… It’s hard to imagine anywhere more captivating than Italy. One thing’s for sure: no matter where you begin, your first visit will spark a lifelong love affair.
Rurall Idyll, Urban Paradise
Italy’s varied landscapes stretch from the snowcapped peaks of the Alps in the north to the sun-kissed beaches of Sicily, so holidaymakers are spoilt for choice. As well as idyllic rural destinations with breathtaking mountains and coastline, Italy is brimming with stunning cities to explore. Rome is a treasure trove of ancient sites and artefacts while Florence, capital of the Renaissance, is a pure celebration of art and architecture.
Full Of History & Flavour
Venture a little further south and you’ll reach the coastal city of Naples in the Campania region. Nearby Mount Vesuvius dominates the skyline; its eruption in 79 AD buried the town of Pompeii in ash, resulting in one of the largest (and most fascinating) archeological sites in the world. The very soul of Naples, and of Italy in general for that matter, is food. Alongside trademark Neapolitan gelato, you can sample balsamic vinegar in Modena, tuck into a true bolognese in Bologna, or hunt for truffles in Tuscany. Your tastebuds will thank you for it.
Italy’s familiar ‘boot’ shape affords the country mile upon mile of picturesque coastline on the Mediterranean, Tyrrhenian and Adriatic Seas. The glorious Amalfi Coast, with its clifftop houses and Michelin-star restaurants, stretches along the Sorrentine Peninsula. And further north, the UNESCO-listed villages of ‘Cinque Terre’ dot the coast with colour from Monterosso to Riomaggiore.

Two beaches within minutes either side of the Marina. Brilliantly equipped apartment and the host, Mariel T is a fabulous lady. Excellent for exploring the many delights of the Tuscany region. ELEGANT & BRAND NEW APARTMENT CLOSE TO THE SEA
Comfortable and well located
We chose to stay in Salerno because of its good transport links. Trains to Naples are frequent, and Naples airport is easily accessible. Trains can be taken directly to Pompeii, Paestum and Caserta. Ferries can be taken to Amalfi, Positano, Maiori, etc. There are numerous restaurants in Salerno centre, and a supermarket and local shops near the apartment. The centre is either a 25 min walk, or there are frequent buses going from a nearby stop. The sea is nearby, although the beaches are small.
The apartment itself is comfortable, spacious and well equipped, although unfortunately the aircon was not working in one bedroom. Also, the meeting arrangements were not fully clear to us. However, that did not detract from a very enjoyable 2 week stay. …
