“Perfect!” We stayed here for a weekend, arrived mid ‘Storm Brian’ to a warm welcome and the log burner already lit. The hut is lovely, very carefully thought out, supremely cosy and secluded. The hosts were helpful with knowledge on the local area, and the pub up the road does a brilliant Sunday lunch! I really can’t recommend this hut enough!

“Relaxing,peaceful,cosy,scenic” As we drove up to the the hut we were taken aback by the panoramic views . upon reaching the hut,my partner and I were pleasantly surprised.we are both very out doorsy people and love serenity which we don't get much of living in London. With it being lambing season we had the pleasure of watching them from the window as they were right on our doorstep. The Penlands looked stunning also We cooked our locally sourced meat on the barbecue provided,which we bought from craigies farm shop (we also walked up craiges hill whilst we were there and had our packed lunch at the top at the quarry whilst enjoying the views) The Hut is very well equipped and warm despite the rather cold conditions outside lynda and Hubby were lovely. You can buy eggs and veg from them We could go on forever but I won't bore you, all we will say is GO!!!! You'll love it

“A relaxing retreat in fabulous surroundings” The shepherds hut was stunning, set in a beautiful orchard on a farm. The owner, Alicia greeted us on arrival & ran through how things worked in the hut. Fresh bread, milk, butter & jam were laid out for us, a lovely touch. Every detail had been thought of, making the stay hassle free. The beds were so comfortable & the en suite shower room was great. We enjoyed eating in the dining hut & spent one evening toasting marshmallows over the log burner. I visited with my 10 year old & 3 small dogs - we all had an amazing trip & my daughter was in tears as she didn't want to leave. Thank you Alicia for making us feel very welcome & letting Libby feed the farm animals. We will certainly be making a return visit.

“A slice of paradise” The pod was exquisite. The owners so accomodating and friendly. You have so much nature on your doorstep. We had the whole paddock to ourselves so privacy was amazing. Peaceful..quiet and just perfect. We will be going back soon.

“Tasteful hideaway, idyllic location, perfect for couples” We stayed for a weekend at the Shepherd's Hide, and loved it. The owners seem to have thought of everything that a couple staying for a weekend might need, including fresh eggs from the farm. Even the handful of books were thoughtfully chosen. No wifi and limited mobile coverage, which is a good thing if like us you want a proper break. We were blessed with fine weather, so spent much of our time reading outside overlooking the mill pond. In rainy or colder weather, the hut might begin to feel small (no comfy chairs, etc) but then again we would love to have had the chance to light the small wood stove... The owners were friendly and helpful, and recommended an excellent walk to Wivenhoe along the riverbank. If you're a couple looking for a romantic, relaxing weekend, it's wonderful.

“A must see” What a fantastic like hut clean well maintained and lovely service lovely relaxing retreat gorgeous setting and gorgeous hut lovely to sit in hot tub and watch the birds nesting in the barn and in the roof of the hut and an extra treat a breakfast hamper lovly little village within walking distance with a pub and a five minute drive from a lovely farm/tea room also farm shop right next door within walking distance hut is well equipped with everything you should need and spotless and of a high standard would highly recommend and hope to 're visit
