Interaction with guest

Fernyford offers a perfect balance between being able to completely unwind, or, if you prefer, getting involved with the day to day life of a working farm! We will be happy to offer our guests the opportunity to experience seeing the livestock on the farm, the different farming operations throughout the year and to taste quality meat produced on the holding. Fernyford Farm is a traditional farm, and we love living here. This is a great part of the world, and we would really enjoy being able to share it with our guests. So, we look forward to welcoming you here on the farm! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you!

“Short break”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2018

Our family treated us to a 3 night break at Fernyford Farm forour christmas Box.They could not have given us anything better .Surrounded by beautiful countryside and farm animals dogs and a cat called sparkle. The animals are lovely and not intrusive or noisy.you could not get better accomodation every thing you would need for long or short break and very tastefully done out.We are in our early 70s and feel the accomodation would suit any age group.Dorota and Neil very friendly and welcocming .

“Absolutely magical, cannot recommend highly enough.”

This delightful renovated barn is absolutely perfect in every way. We are sorely tempted to move in. The furnishings are solid, the decor tasteful with muted taupes and cosy furnishings, the carpentry is all custom made from the original beams, the kitchen is equipped with everything you could possible wish for, the beds are wide and comfortable, and the shower is top quality. What really makes the stay utterly magical is the warm-hearted welcome from the entire family. When we got stuck in snow, Neil, Dorota and their children came to tow us out, with everyone happily heaving and pushing despite the weather conditions. The children are an absolute delight and showed us round the farm, eagerly explaining how they tend to the animals, and they even took us sledging. Neil and Dorota are warm and absolutely fascinating people. Neil is almost too humble to admit he is actually a sheep shearing champion and has represented England internationally. Dorota is a fantastic cook and interior designer (as is immediately apparent from the renovation of the barn) and a very talented photographer. They sell the meat from the livestock they raise - it is all delicious, especially the sirloin steak. We now have a freezer bulging with venison burgers and 'Beltie' mince - but not for long! We were truly sad to leave and cannot wait to return.

“In seven years visiting UK & staying in cottages this was one of the best.”

Well designed, quiet, comfortable cottage with every amenity. Perfect outdoor area to relax in with a glass of wine after a day's outing, and most importantly a wonderful host family.

“Welcoming family at Fernyford Farm”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2017

Impressive cottage, surrounded by restored stone buildings and walls. The cottage is finished to a very high standard, I loved the interior finish of oak staircase and dining furniture. Neil and Dorota friendly and welcoming, many opportunities to chat despite their busy life and Barney preparing his sheep for a Show. We were fortunate to have wam summer weather and we were able to sit outdoors in the Patio area in the evening. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very well equiped for self catering. Their farm meat is available for sale. We cooked some delicious venison sausages from their freezer. We travelled in the District each day of our stay, country lanes a treat for New Zealanders, hedgerows, stone walls and historic buildings. Excellent and memorable. Much information supplied in the way of brochures and the like of attractions in the Peak District.
