“Absolutely superb” This was a fantastic apartment. Staying with my wife, 2 daughters, their partners, 14 month old grandson, there was plenty of room. Everywhere was beautifully furnished, well laid out and spotlessly clean, The booking was very efficient, the welcome was warm and the facilities were excellent. The location couldn't be better, opposite the Opera House and park, and very close to restaurants and shops.
It really was faultless. Suitable for adults and slightly surprisingly, for the toddler too. Quiet, sophisticated and really comfortable
“Fantastic short break” Location is ideal for picturesque walking and very close to a lovely pub serving fantastic food. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The Shepherds Hut was clean and tidy and the log burner was great. We had a great time and would definitely return in the future.
“Excellent place, owner thinks of everything!!” This was our second stay at Temple Mews and would definitely return. Location can not be beaten.
Deborah the owner has thought of everything that you might need during your stay.
The quality of the furnishings is excellent, high end goods.
If you're looking for a spacious apartment/house then look know further this is it
“Perfect celebration venue” I wanted somewhere to spend my special birthday weekend with friends and Wellwood lodge was recommended to me. I didn't look anywhere else after viewing this place on line and I was right not to as this was absolutely the perfect place.
The house was spotless and accommodated the 10 of us (plus toddler) easily. Every bedroom is really well sized with plenty of storage and there's enough space between each to not be disturbing anyone if you're an early riser - or a late bed goer!
We catered for ourselves both nights and found the facilities to be outstanding. The kitchen is roomy, well laid out, fantastically well equipped and leads onto the very spacious dining room where we wiled away many an hour! The layout of the table makes it a really sociable area.
The huge living area was brilliant and the real centre of the house for our weekend - though you always found someone just chilling in the Conservatory!
What I also loved was how 'remote' you felt yet Buxton town centre is literally just a 15/20 minute walk down the road.
I had an absolutely fantastic birthday weekend hugely helped by being in such a lovely house that we all immediately felt at home in. (Oh and having a freshly made loaf of bread baking away for you on arrival was a very nice touch!!)
“Perfect Bank Holiday weekend!” We stayed at Gib Torr Barnhouse for the May Bank holiday weekend for our annual uni reunion - there were 10 of us. The barnhouse is lovely, so quirky and all the communal areas were a good size. It was also really well-equipped with everything you usually forget to take away with you! We had a great weekend and enjoyed exploring the local area and it was so nice not to have any phone signal! The master bedroom is amazing, happy my husband and I scored for that room as the other rooms were a little too close for comfort. They're all an ok size but seemed to be just one big space that's been partitioned off so everyone sleeping down that end of the barn could hear every sound from everyone else. I think they'd be perfect for kids though, or just make sure you have ear plugs. The only other negative was that the kitchen area smelled of dog when we first arrived, but it did disappear after a few hours.
All in all, a great place to stay for families and groups and we'd definitely book again!
“Beautiful place and felt very welcome” We stayed at the Cobbles as we were attending a wedding in Buxton the apartment was in a great location to Buxton town and a short walk. We had no problem parking and was really pleased with the apartment. It was finished to very high standard. On arrival we felt very welcome and they added some lovely touches. The owner came across as very friendly staying in contact by text and was quick to apply to any questions we had.
Overall our stay was great and would definitely stay here again.

What to Do
There are plenty of walking and hiking areas in Buxton, but Poole's Cavern is among the most famous. Known as the most spectacular natural cavern in the Peak District, it's well worth exploring. You'll see breathtaking crystal formations and vast chambers. Pick up a souvenier at the nearby fossil and gemstone shop after your visit.
Other popular sights include The Goyt Valley and Solomon's Temple at the summit of Grin Low.
Why not take a stroll through the Pavilion Gardens, and admire the landscaping while the kids run around in the outdoor playground?
You should also visit St Ann's Well - it's one of the highlights of Buxton. Bring a water bottle and fill it up from the spring. It'll be a bit warm as the reservoir is heated by the earth's core but the taste is sublime.

2 Brocklehurst Cottages in Buxton town centre
An amazing find. The cottage was impeccable and immaculately clean, channelling a modern take on a 70s cool vibe. We only stayed for a weekend but you could easily spend two comfortable weeks in it. Great comms with Mel (the owner) and a quick 5 mins into town. Buxton is lovely with some great independent retailers. Would have no problem recommending the cottage or town. …
