“Pond View Cottage, what a place!” This little cottage just outside Hathersage is absolutely fantastic. We arrived in darkness and was greeted by James who was grew and showed us around. The cottage itself is brilliantanly layed out upside down as to create more space and light and works perfectly. During the weekend we climbed Mam Tor, on the Saturday we visited Hathersage, Castleton and Edale. In Sunday we traveled to Bakewell and Matlock all worth a visit while up in the area. We ate out at the Scotsmans Pack, and The Plough, which were both delicious meals. We loved our stay and would really recommend the cottage to our friends and anyone else!

“A beautiful, luxurious holiday cottage in idyllic surroundings.” What a find!!! Daleside is a truly lovely cottage which is every bit as good as the photos depict. It has everything you might need including off street parking (so often missing with some cottages) and even a welcoming surprise in the fridge! The cottage is beautiful both inside and out and the views from it are just stunning. The owner Christine close by and if we needed anything she was always contactable and was really proactive in making sure that everything was OK. Located in Over Hadden it makes a good base to tour the Peak District and is close to Bakewell and Chatsworth House. You can also walk for miles straight from the cottage, and the Lathkil Hotel which serves excellent meals and a range of beers and wines is just a couple of hundred yards away. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to visit this area.

“Beautiful little barn” We stayed here for 2 nights with our dog, and purpose of our trip was walking and pubs! Firstly the location is beautiful. Lots of pubs within walking distance but still felt really rural. Helen was very welcoming and shared some really useful info, then left us to it and the barn felt nice and private. The ‘breakfast pack’ is far more than just breakfast, and was very generous and much appreciated! The barn itself is lovely and cosy, immaculately clean and full or character. We loved our stay here and will definitely be back.

“Clean, spacious, friendly, great location” Julie and Steve Nash were extremely friendly, helpful and gracious. I was a bit lost on the country roads and they helped me out by letting me use their GPS NavStat.(talk about generous!) It was a real time saver for me. The town's location was perfect for me as I was there to do the Peak Walks and there are some of the best in, around and quite near their wonderful rental. I had a great time even with the temperamental English weather! I highly recommend the Cotton Lofts.

“Fantastic Cottage” We loved our stay at Pumpkin Cottage. Jane was very helpful for any questions we had and the cottage was equipped with everything we needed, including a lovely bottle of wine for us and some dog treats for the dogs. Having a enclosed garden made the trip more enjoyable and the parking locally at the pub wasn’t an issue at all. Would highly recommend and stay again, located well for lots of walks that we spent the week doing.

“Lovely cosy cottage, with great access to the Peak District” Our first time to the Peak District, we were very impressed with most of the towns and villages we visited. Parwich was no exception - nice quiet village with very friendly pub with hearty pub food, very reasonlably priced. There's also a British Legion club, which serves as a second pub, but we never got the chnace to try it out. Also plenty of walks around and good access to the whol Peak District area. The cottage is nice and cosy setout on 3 floors, with lovely new bathroom/shower room, very comfortable king-size bed and relaxing lounge area with open fire. It was clean, tidy and very well equiped throughout. In addition, there was lots of information on walks and leaflets of other attractions in the area. All in all we had a lovely stay. Many thanks .

“Delightful cosy cottage” My wife and I stayed in this delightful one bedroomed cottage just behind the owner's house from 27th December until 1st January. It was well appointed and with its efficient wood burner and electric radiators provided a lovely cosy home from home during the starlit cold nights in the beautiful Peaks. Once we had mastered the modern Stoves oven and hob (which Lindsay sorted with a quick lesson on our first night) we managed to cook for ourselves the whole stay. We also loved the chickens and ponies directly outside our door and the view across the valley to the hills beyond. We'll definitely be back for more!

“Cosy cottage in a fabulous location” We had a wonderful week at Overdale Cottage. Perfectly situated for many walks from the lovely village of Youlgrave, we loved the view along Bradford Dale from the cottage and its roof terrace. All amenities were provided and everything was well maintained. Our only watchout is access: do not attempt to drive down the narrow lane as you are liable to damage your car! Park on the main road and don’t bring too much luggage as you’ll have to carry everything along the steep path from the main road to the cottage.

“Quaint cottage with everything you need.” Good communication from the host with all the information we needed. Nice welcome pack on arrival. Parking is on-street with a residents' permit and we had no difficulty in finding a space nearby. The kitchen is well appointed and it was easy to prepare a meal. Bedrooms are spacious. The bathroom is narrow but has everything you want with a good shower over the bath. Everything was exceptionally clean. Wi-Fi was fast and the smart TV worked well. Close to town, with the Co-op and other shops, pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. It is a bit uphill on the way home, but if you're walking around Bakewell, you should be expecting hills.

Peak District National Park holidays

Rolling hills rise into striking fells as you enter the hiker's paradise that is the Peak District. Grab your boots, your rucksack and your camera - you'll need them to capture the full beauty of the UK's original national park. Surrounded by Derbyshire countryside, historic villages and stately homes, you'll find it easy to unwind and forget about the outside world.

Accommodation in rural Derbyshire ranges from idyllic stone cottages hidden in the fells to small town apartments and even a whole village pub. Whether you're going back to basics or want all the home comforts, holiday rentals in the Peak District will provide.

National treasures

On the eastern fringes of the Peak District sits the magnificent Chatsworth House, home to the Cavendish family since 1549. Luckily, the doors to this stately home - the set for Pride & Prejudice and Death Comes to Pemberley - are open to the public. In addition to lavish classical architecture, Chatsworth contains a collection of sculpture and artwork spanning some 4,000 years. The maze in the grounds is always a hit with children unimpressed by Rembrandt.

Stepping further back in time, Haddon Hall, seat of the Duke of Rutland, dates from the 11th century. As at Chatsworth House, filmmakers have scrambled to capitalise on its beauty: alongside numerous period dramas, Haddon became Prince Humperdinck's castle for The Princess Bride. It's a fortified manor rather than a true castle, but it's a great day out by any definition.

Take a hike

The Peak District lies at the southern tip of the Pennine Hills, famed for their outstanding beauty and accessible trails. There's nothing to stop you getting out there and enjoying nature. The ridge walk from Mam Tor to Losehill is a favourite among hikers, taking the highest route through the northern Peak District. There is no better view to be found.

A more gentle, but equally pretty, route takes the explorer through Dovedale National Nature Reserve and along the River Dove (and its infamous stepping stones). There's a small car parking charge, and it's best to arrive early, but it's one of the finest valley walks in the country.

The Mermaid Inn, Peak District National Park
Outstanding

Our second visit for a family gathering and this property continues to surpass expectations. Everyone complimented the property on its facilities and comfort. In addition the views are spectacular plus, this time we also had the great weather. The bar was, as previous, the hub of our social activities, the kitchen is well stocked and dining room with its special views is a must see. Again contact with the owners Pete and Marie-Axelle was seamless and many thanks to them and the team for their assistance. A truly superb venue, we will certainly return.see more

An Absolute Gem

This was a wonderful place to stay! The cottage was immaculate and extremely comfortable, with everything that we needed, including a large and varied collection of books to browse. The single bedroom is more spacious than it appears from the photos, so don't let that put you off booking! It was a very comfortable room. We had very good weather and it was lovely to have places to sit to the front and at the back of the cottage. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and was thoughtful about what we might need. I am so pleased that we discovered Kinder Path Cottage and will definitely return.see more
Thatch End Cottage
Spacious house, lovely setting

The cottage was very spacious and well equipped. The great thing was it had a drive. Nice little courtyard garden and some lovely walks from the doorstep. Pub/ restaurants on the doorstep. This cottage would definitely benefit from new mattresses. We slept in one bed and it was so uncomfortable, you could feel every spring. We moved to the other bed the following night which was slightly better but this cottage is not cheap and I expected the mattresses to be of better quality. If the mattresses were replaced it would be lovely.see more

Very good

Very good location and had everything we needed. Didn’t know that the gate for the back garden wasn’t attached to the house. Luckily we had a pen with us for the dogs. No outside tap. Private but not mega private from the owners as they were in the garage next to us doing work on their car and could see in the garden. Good location nice fire.see more
