Why Bakewell?

Famous the world over for its delicious tarts, Bakewell is also a fantastic place to stay. See what you can discover while staying in a holiday rental in Bakewell.

About Bakewell

With its stone buildings and quaint courtyards, Bakewell is the perfect spot for painters, photographers and sightseers who enjoy a slower pace of life.

What to Do

To learn a little about the area, head to the Old House Museum. You'll be instantly transported back to Victorian times.

Why not visit Chatsworth House? You can have afternoon tea there, after you've explored all the rooms. You may recognise it from Pride and Prejudice (the movie, not the BBC series with Colin Firth and the lake), because it was used as Pemberley.

Top Bakewell Travel Tips

Head to Thornbridge Brewery, take a tour and sample some of the world-leading craft beers.

There's much more to this town than its delicious food and drink. Book your holiday rental in Bakewell today so you can find out all about it.

Church Corner Cottage, Youlgrave, Bakewell
Very comfortable cottage

This cottage is very cosy and snuggly, it's also dog friendly. Saying that, there's not actually anywhere in the village for dogs to 'go' other than a grass verge some way down the road. No other grass! Welcome pack wasn't as welcoming as we've had in other cottages (small bottle of milk and small bottles water, lemonade and juice plus individual packs biscuits). Although located in a village, a lot of traffic passes by, so not for light sleepers! On street parking, though we were lucky enough to get spaces outside the cottage as we got back early. The owner was very helpful when he met us on arrival and showed us around and explained how to use the gas range for cooking - which is very slow, so turn it on early if you want to cook anything We ate at all three of the village's pubs and would love to have the Farmyard as our local, The Bull's Head was very nice too see more

Court Yard Cottage Stay

I should start this by saying that I am extremely particular and I won't lie, I'm a little bit on the fussy side. But I/we absolutely loved everything about our stay in this cottage, and the prompt, thorough and helpful communication that was offered from the owners before hand. We were delighted as we opened the door to the cottage to find a very warm, clean and cosy cottage along with a very welcoming hamper basket filled with lovely things to eat and drink. Every room was very tastefully decorated and we were provided with everything one could need. The place was really clean!, no dust, no stains, perfect! what a relief!. Maria, was so helpful in offering advice about the area and has even offered to send back items of clothing left by us which is really good if her. This was honestly one of the most memorable trips that we have ever had and this is mainly due to that little cottage, we couldn't wait to get back to it of an evening, it really was a home away from home. 10/10 rating from us, and a great experience all round. see more
The Mill Wheel
Lovely, lovely accommodation in an ideal position within Bakewell

This was excellent accommodation in terms of its facilities, cleanliness and quality. We wanted for nothing. It has the added benefits of two allocated parking spaces and is right in the heart of Bakewell. It is also not far from other attractions such as Matlock, Black Rocks, National Stone Centre etc etc. The owner responded to questions and made us feel welcome with touches like providing some basic food stuffs. We had our grandson aged 3 with us and it was ideal for him as well. There is a local swimming pool and a well equipped park. We would definitely go back to The Mill Wheel. see more
Jasmine Cottage
Beautiful cottage in Peak District

This is one of the nicest cottages I have stayed at ;it was spotlessly clean and comfortable and very cosy . We were greeted with lovely flowers and a freshly made cake and lots of extra touches like bubble bath . It is very good value for money. There are some beautiful walks from the cottage and some nice pubs which are dog friendly . There aren't many shops but a lovely bakery . The owners are helpful and friendly. When I visit this area again I would definitely stay again . ; see more
