So long as you are happy with being miles from anywhere, do not miss this property. The views are inspirational and stunning. It is very much out of the way, and despite being one of about 100 apartments, I didn't hear a noise from a soul all week.
After crossing the Tamar floating bridge, it's still about 8 miles to get to the fort, with the final mile being a dark, narrow secluded lane. Upon arrival you drive into the underground car park, which looks like a typical 1970s concrete affair. It is well lit however, but the warning signs of killer waves are a bit daunting! Upon finding your allocated parking space, the fun of finding the apartment really begins... Despite instructions saying that you are right by the lift, I was unable to find it, even after a week of staying there. The main entrance is a fair few strides away, and then you follow signs through spooky corridors to your designated lift. Once on the third floor, the apartment is easy to find, but the lighting of the walkway leaves much to be desired.
Once inside, you cannot fail to be immediately impressed, not only by the layout, but by the enormous panoramic windows, balcony and views. Most is laminated flooring, fairly budget, but some carpeted surfaces. There is a new 3 piece suite in the viewing platform raised area. Main bedroom is tidy with a comfortable double bed, although for what is described as a luxury property, it is surprising that this has not been upgraded to king-size. The bunk room is small but functional, with port holes to the lounge, a novel feature. The shower room is just that, with no bath, but it's clean and tidy and has a good powerful electric double shower.
Negative points are the lack of internet, and mobile phone signal. Also the futon settee has to be the most uncomfortable thing that I have ever sat on, but unless you want to sit in front of the TV, there is little need to use it, as the suite in the living area is great.
The whole property is well presented, and the owner seems happy to provide basic essentials like washing up liquid, hand soap and loo rolls. There is a dishwasher, but surprisingly no washing machine, and no provision of towels which you need to take with you, despite being provided with full made up bedding.
All in all, there is no denying that this is a very special place to stay. Luxury would not be an apt description, but clean, mainly comfortable and a bit quirky would sum it up nicely. Oh, and the views, did I mention them? Simply to die for! …
Great place to stay, great location and great holiday.
A little gem of a place with everything you wished for and so much more. So welcoming, clean, tidy and so cosy. Everything is of high quality with a few hidden surprises in which we really appreciated. Being so close to the sea is an extra bonus. …
Beautiful home in a great location
Rock House is one of the most attractive and comfortable houses we have stayed in and definitely has the best views. The rooms are large, light and thoughtfully furnished. Even on grey days the house is light and the views outstanding. The house was equipped with everything we needed for 4 adults, a toddler and a 9 month old.
The villages of Kingsand and Cawsand are a joy with friendly pubs serving very good food. The nearby beach was safe and great for a 2 year old to paddle in the sea.
All communications with the owners were quick, helpful and friendly. They had also left detailed information about the area which was very useful.
We will definitely return. …
Spindrift Beach House, Kingsand
This property is of the highest standard. All rooms are fitted out to a very high quality from crockery in the kitchen to bedding in all of the bedrooms. The location is superb in the village with every amenity within easy walking distance. We had 8 adults in 4 bedrooms and never once felt cramped for space. The whole experience from booking to departure was seamless with the owner extremely pleasant and great to deal with. Will definitely be back!! …
Exactly what a holiday in Cornwall should be
Eventide is a lovely house, ideally situated for anyone looking for a Cornish holiday. The accommodation is excellent and across the road from the beach/sea. Kingsand is a dog and family friendly location for good walks and has a number of good pubs for casual evenings by the sea. …
Fab cottage, superb location = great holiday!
Just returned from a lovely week at Wringford Down. Cottage was clean and welcoming. The dogs were comfortable in the conservatory and the boys spent a lot of time in the games room which was perfect for them. Even the weather was kind! Excellent beaches close by - use Tregantle Fort Permissive Track for a relatively easy route down to Whitsands Bay. Did a lot of bodyboarding (with wetsuits). Easy walk into Cawsand and Kingsand where there were a number of very welcoming pubs. …
