“Amazing place to stay” This was the best holiday home I have ever stayed in. Loads of space, both inside and out, the house was beautifully and originally furnished with great facilities. The outdoor heated swimming pool was a real asset, our kids were hardly out of it. The table tennis also went down brilliantly. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful, with the picturesque town of Pont L'Eveque just 6km away. We are already planning a return.

“What a Gem!” Loved this accomodation from the moment we arrived! Great views from both sitting areas. Lovely and spacious with plenty of privacy. Had a great week and would love to return. Children had plenty of space upstairs to play on their WII. We had plenty of peace & quiet reading downstairs! Perfect. Very comfortable beds and fresh air resulted in the best nights sleep we've had for ages!! Many thanks for letting us stay.

“Fantastic!” Had a brilliant time here. The lodge is wonderfully equipped - simply a home from home. Hot tub a lovely addition to the beautifully kept lodge. A pleasure to deal with the owners who went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Will definitely be back very soon. Thanks for a brilliant time.

“A truly memorable stay in wonderful surroundings” This lodge is truly impeccable in terms of views, cleanliness and amenities. There is nothing one can really complain about. Thumbs up also goes to Frida (owner of the lodge) who is always at your disposal prior to your stay and also during the time spent there. We were truly blessed by wonderful weather so we got to enjoy the terrace right on top of the lake. One word of caution - during the evening if you intend to dine or relax on the terrace do get some insect repellent (ex citronella candles) as otherwise mosquitoes literally invade you. Also some things to keep in mind, if you intend to have a BBQ you need charcoal (its not gas operated) and you must bring your own towels. This is not a big deal but just something to keep in mind cause travelling from abroad and getting your own towels sometimes can be overlooked and would also add to the luggage weight ;). The lodge had excellent parking facilities and also is very easy to find plus being close to the major lake district attractions... One BIG issue i had was Wi-Fi connection - the signal is horrible but this is a shared Wi-Fi zone around the complex so it does not have to do anything with the lodge. It is also a bit pricey for such a bad signal/experience. All in all - Well done the lodge is excellent

“Don't think twice.... just book it!!” I booked The Gatehouse for a family birthday garden party/BBQ bash on 14 June 2014 and had invited 40 - 50 people. The venue was perfect as guests could sit and mingle on the huge garden and decking area and still there was plenty of room for tables to be laid out for all the BBQ food. The well stocked kitchen had everything we needed including a huge american style fridge freezer which was well utilised with all the M&S party food and drinks and also has a very welcome dishwasher for washing all the pots!! The friends who stayed said the beds were extremely comfortable and it was great having so many en-suite bedrooms as it's nice to have your own space and privacy. We live less than half an mile away from The Gatehouse but I knew I wanted somewhere special for the party and it didn't fail to deliver. I've had so many positive comments about the day and the location which is lovely and made it all the more special for the birthday trio. Tim is a fantastic host and so helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. Big thanks. All in all it was a great weekend and if you are thinking of staying just book it.... you won't regret it. However, you'd better get in quick as I notice that it is extremely popular and booked months in advance. Always a good sign... and in this case well justified.

“With young kids, all you need is bunnies...” This was the first family holiday we have ever had, and first time that my wife and children (twin 2 year old girls) had ever been to Cornwall or on a "British" holiday. Weather was a bit hit and miss, but that is Britain for you. Lodge worked out almost perfectly for us. The girls LOVED the bunnies - which are everywhere around, almost always at least a couple visible from the cabin. Kitchen was well stocked including some thoughtful touches: tupperware containers, salt, pepper, cooking oil etc, cabin layout nice and double bed very comfortable. Both showers were fantastic - better than we have at home - and bath worked well with the kids. Washing machine also helpful. The girls also enjoyed the climbing frame/swings on site, the indoor pool, and being able to see sheep/cows/horses (and yet more bunnies) from the playground. Good location for visiting Polperro (pushing double buggy back up the hill in the wet was hard work!) , Looe, beaches, Fowey, Eden Project, Bodmin Steam Railway etc. Bill, the owner, rang on the Wednesday and offered the chance for us to stay an extra day due to no following booking, which happened to be one of the best weather days we had and also first day of Polperro festival. This was hugely appreciated (and enjoyed). Things to note: - We took 2 toddler travel cots. One a 'normal' one and one a smaller special lightweight portable one. We were lucky we had, because configuration of bedroom meant getting both in same room was tight and 2 'normal' travel cots would not have fitted in the same room (with enough room for adult to still pass the first one). The problem being that the normal bedside cabinet between the twin beds is fixed to the wall and not moveable. This won't be a problem for almost anybody else, but worth being aware of if you have 2 cots and want them in the same room. - No internet in cabin (i loved it, wife not so impressed), although mobile reception was fine, and internet was available in clubhouse. - Would have been nice to have: A portable grill/BBQ for the cabin deck would have been great (we were jealous of next door cabin using theirs when we arrived). A couple of spare black bin bags would also have been useful (we had not thought to bring any) But definitely recommended for a family wanting a getaway in this beautiful corner of the world.
