“Great place off the beaten track” We spent a wonderful week at villa Laska in August 2012. The house offers everything you need – comfortable beds, nice bedrooms (one with balcony) very well equipped kitchen (with large fridge and freezer, microwave, ceramic hot plate…) washing machine and line as well as iron. There is no TV reception but you can watch your DVDs or choose from a large selection available. If you want to stay connected to the world there is a free WLAN in and around the house.
There is plenty of space around the house (2 terraces). And then there is the view over the Black Sea– just marvellous. I particularly loved relaxing on a long chair underneath the almond tree and enjoying the slight breeze (we had 32C+ during the whole week).
This is a perfect place if you want to be away from the big tourist resorts. It’s a bit remote (even though the traffic noise from the street behind ban be a bit annoying depending on the wind and the time oft he day), but only 5 minutes by car to the beach and the town of Kranevo where you find enough supermarkets, shops and restaurants.
The house is very well managed by a very nice and friendly English couple, offering any help or support you might need.
“Clean and quiet apartment in perfect location” My husband and I rented the studio sea front apartment with my sister and her family renting the one bedroom (2 adults & 2 children - aged 7&4).The apartments were of excellent standard; fully equipped kitchens and most importantly lovely and clean. We were right on the sea front with nice clean pools and a play area on the complex. There is also a night club however we did not visit this during our stay. The best part was the location - on top of Nessebar and in the heart of the 'real' sunny beach! There was also all the bars, restaurants etc of sunny beach a short distance away.
We enjoyed it so much, Bulgaria far exceeded our expectations we have already booked up the same apartments for this years trip! :)
“Grade A accommodation, everything was superb - perfect for families.” Anyone travelling and holidaying with small children knows who hard and tiring it can be. We traveled with four children under seven. The transfer at airport was ready for us and supplied a spacious mini bus for the three hour drive to apartment.
On arrival we were helped with our luggage and used the lift to access the apartment. As soon as we opened the door we were greeted with an amazing view of the mountains and an immaculate, well-laid out and equipped apartment.
A highchair and travel cot arrived for the baby and was set up for us. All the bedrooms were spacious, two of these boast sterling views of the mountain which was awesome to wake up to.
We ate out most nights as the local restaurants are brilliant - and so friendly and welcoming to the children. All places we visited catered for the special requests of the chldren (plain pasta!) and one even made and pureed baby food for us! We did eat in one night and found that everything we needed was in the kitchen.
The handy shop downstairs from the apartment block was used by us daily for everyday items such as bread and milk.
We had a tremendous lot of 'gear' - buggies, car seats, all the skiing gear but the apartment housed it all, we kept and dried all our skiing gear on drying rack placed by heaters and stored helmets and jackets at an area behind the door so we never felt cluttered or in a mess.
The wi-fi connection was vital for me boyfriend to check work emails and was fast and reliable.
If you have a toddler, you will need to be mindful of the wooden staircase as you would anywhere you went.
Above all, the location of these apartment made our holiday. Getting to the gondola each morning with the children, buggies, ski's, poles, boots and sweating in all the other gear would of been tragic if we'd of had to walk or travel further! It's literally a five minute walk and when you're on the ball you can be the first in the queue!
My top tips
- if you have children, get them on the sofa bed in the middle bedroom in the dark. They probably won't sleep as they'll be too excited but get them to look up and look at the stars! My son is still talking about lying in bed looking at the full moon up in the sky.
- jostle for the front two bedrooms as not only do you get the best views, you are the closest to the best shower with a big old showerhead!
“A lovely house in Plovdiv” We have stayed at Philipopolis House twice. We enjoyed our stay so much the first time we went again the following year. There was loads of room for just two of us so we spread ourselves out. The house has a private courtyard with bunches of grapes hanging down.
The owner Charlie met us at Sofia airport and dropped at the door of his lovely house and introduced us to his wife. We would definitely recommend the property but hope it doesn't get too booked up as we would love to go again !
“Fantastic” The accommodation was excellent, wonderful complex. The service is also excellent. Number of restaurants. We visited the nearby Sunny beach and Nessebar. What we didn't like, this is the hotel beach. Was put up, a lot of stones, which were quite large. Bad input into the sea for small children. The sea was clean. Near the sandy beach. Overall we were very satisfied with a holiday.
Bulgaria, situated in Southeast Europe and occupying the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula, has become an increasingly popular tourist destination in recent decades. From skiing in the Rhodope Mountains to beach relaxation on the Black Sea Coast, a holiday in Bulgaria promises a wide variety of landscapes and places of interest. Rent a self catering ski chalet in a Bulgaria ski resort (try Bansko or Borovets), or stay in an apartment or villa in Sunny Beach or Varna for a more Mediterranean atmosphere, great night life and the famous Varna Archaeological Museum. For a city break, rent accommodation in the capital, Sofia – one of Europe’s oldest cities and, along with Bulgaria’s many UNESCO World Heritage landmarks, a must for culture vultures.

Lovely peaceful holiday
Myself and my girlfriend stayed in starfish accommodation the last two weeks in August. We had a lovely peaceful stay. The accommodation was clean and tidy with everything we needed. The pool and gardens were beautifully kept and very quiet, most of the time we were the only people around the pool. A lovely break with lots of lovely food and lots of alcohol !!
We will definitely be back xx …
Akratoria Holiday Apartments
Quiet, comfortable, well equipped, good location.
Location is good,
3 sandy, shallow beaches very close, one less than 5 mins away but a steep hill.
tip, the beach past the ferry has cushions on its sunbeds!
Old Nessebar just a short (65p) bus ride, bus stop 2 mins from apartment.
buses frequent (except the open top tour bus which advertises 24 hrs but operates 10-11 am and after 5pm)!
All other buses were pretty good, we travelled to Elinite, St Vllas, Sunny beach, Pomorie and Rada easily.
From Old Nessebar there is a road train (posh tractor thing) which goes to Sunny Beach for £2 or frequent boat taxis.
Boat taxi from nearest beach to apartment to Nessebar was fun.£5
Boat taxis go from Pomorie to islands.
Old Nessebar was lovely, cobbled streets, loads of restaurants looking out to sea.
street vendors and various artists, there was a singing completion final held over 3 days in the old theatre which was free and good to sit and watch for half an hour as the sun went down, singers came from all over Bulgaria for this final. Musician was playing a bag pipe thing at the entrance the the old city. Violinist busking too.
All good fun and lovely to walk past in the cooler night air. Loads of shops too.
I guess the council will organise events in the old theatre to attract tourists from nearby sunny beach etc.
Apartment was spacious and clean. Very well equipped with plenty of towels and linen. Cannot fault it, even a parasol if you want to go and lie on a towel rather than hire a sun bed on the beach, they were about £15 for 2 beds plus parasol for the day.
And comfy beds- a must if going for 2 weeks like us!!
Pool area was clean, pool was lovely and as this isn't a big complex I was often the only one swimming.
A lovely touch was the washing up liquid and dishcloth provided.
We reported a minor repair and it was sorted quickly.
If you are looking for a quiet place to have a holiday yet within easy reach of good restaurants, places to visit, with a nice pool and lovely beach nearby this would be a good choice.
If you are wanting action packed promenade with hire bikes zooming around, happy hour adverts every couple of yards and crowds of people, this will not be a good choice! …
We have just had a wonderful holiday for 2 weeks, in the lovely surroundings of this villa. On arrival we had an extremely warm reception, food made for us and drinks from our two fantastic hosts.
The hosts live on site on the bottom floor of the villa, but they never encroached on our holiday- they were wonderful and would do anything for us; took in our washing, made loads of home cooked food for us, kept everything tidy and clean and helped out with advice.
They didn’t speak a word of English and vice versus but we managed!
On our departure they presented my little toddler with a teddy, a box of chocolates for us all to share and coffee’s for all.
The villa and pool were lovely, the kitchen facilities were fairly basic- with an outdoor bbq, gas burner and small oven.
The area of Balchik is fairly quiet, but a lovely town, loads of restaurants at the marina and a cocktail bar.
Overall we had a fabulous holiday and sad to be home!!! …

Nessebar view complex apartments
Tim was an excellent host, apartment was clean with full air conditioning in each room. Essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar, toilet rolls etc.. were at the apartment on our arrival. Complex was quiet and peaceful. Short drive to sunny beach, not far from Kosharitsa. Bulgaria is a lovely country with so much to do and See. Highly recommend that a car is hired to really take in the sights that the country has to offer. Very affordable place to live for the EU …
