“Wonderful Holiday spent at spacious Villa” I spent a week at the villa with my extended family as my brother was getting married in Lindos. The villa catered for all and the owners had tried to think of everything we might need. Fantastic views and a good sized pool. A car was needed for supermarket trips and days out but a 25 min walk would get you to Lindos which was a gorgeous town and great to explore. My brothers fiancee's family stayed in the villa next door and this worked out perfectly. We had a fab week!
“Excellent Villa with one of the best views on the island” My wife and I booked this villa for our 'babymoon' - a nice, high spec location to get away from it all for 7 nights. We got exactly what we asked for with the villa being situated high on the side of a mountain but easily accessible by car (approx. 10 minutes to get from the villa to the major bypass outside of Nidri town). Evenings were absolutely quiet save the sounds of nature, complete peace for long sleeps.
The photos available speak for themselves so I shall say no more than they are true and accurate representations of the villa and its surroundings - no photoshop in sight. The view overlooking the bay outside of Gheni never got old, and we found ourselves choosing to spend our evenings swimming / having a BBQ on the large patio of the villa, heading down at night into Nidri as the mood took us.
The villa is on the east of the island, and whilst the best beaches such as Egremni are on the west, the drive around the south of the island (don't go north, not as pretty) was an absolute joy to drive - long, open winding mountain roads with the roof down and sun shining. Personally, I think it's better to be on the east as that's where the boats launch from (Nidri) and it has a better buzz although the south west of the island is pretty cool too. Anyway, that's for folks to decide for themselves but it worked for us.
Full disclosure - the first time you ascend the mountain road to the villa, it can be somewhat daunting if you've not had experience of such before. I didn't, but by the second day I was a pro and actually really started to enjoy the drive! Just don't rent / take a car any larger than a Suzuki Jimmy or you might run into some bother.
The villa itself was to a high standard of cleanliness, with the pool maintained regularly during our stay. Outdoor lighting was soft so as not to attract too many bugs at dinner, beautiful flowers and roses decorating the property. Shower facilities very good, wifi is solid and reliable (you won't be streaming movies, but fine for surfing and sending pics home).
The owner & contact on the island were both pleasures to liaise with, with no intrusion during our stay and very efficient checking in & out. The property has an 'honesty bar' which was very well stocked, and it's a simple request to replace what you take. Local amenities are 10m away at the bottom of the hill in Nidri, no bother. Recommend you hit up Carrfour either in Lefkadas or an express down south for higher value load-ups.
Anyway, we loved it and were very glad to be on our mountain away from it all, but only a short drive to the action when we wanted it. We'd both recommend it - just make sure you're ok with driving up a mountain (really it's no bother - just fair warning).
“Home from Home” From the moment we arrived to the sad day of our departure we were made to feel very welcome. All the family are so friendly and Chester the dog is certainly a loveable character. The Villa is beautifully furnished both inside and out and the pool was a welcome relief from the Cretan sun. Being so near to all the towns facilities was great and once the gate is closed behind you you feel that you are really private and it is surprisingly quiet. The beach is just a very short walk with plenty of places to eat of have a drink. We would love to go back one day.
“Fantastic Villa - 10/10 for views, comfort, style and location!” Just a 15 min drive up from the airport this fantastic villa makes for a perfect holiday retreat.
I've previously stayed in Kefalonia, the transfer took over 2 hours, so being able to land and be by the pool taking in the seaviews whilst sipping a cold beer - all within 1 hr of arriving was a real bonus.
Suprisingly you'll never hear a plane during your stay as they are far in the distance.
The villa is furnished and finished to a very high spec and is not adorned with the usual greek trinkets. The owner has thought of everything and please follow her great recommendations for the local Greek wine and restaurants which were also top notch.
All in all I cannot fault this villa.
My wife and I are already planning our next trip.
“Breathtaking” The well equipped villa is exactly as described but no-one can describe how perfect this location is. We are a family with grandparents (60+) & children 8 & 11 and we all loved it here. It was lovely to visit the busy touristy parts of the island - which are in easy reach for daytime adventures - but to come home here to the peace. We never tired of watching the boats, sea, goats.... Xigia beach is easy to walk to and a little paradise without many tourists. The children loved swimming round to tiny beaches to collect shells. We will definitely return (we didn't see a turtle).
“Unspoilt by tourism” Our first booking with holidaylettings was done with trepidation, but the experience has been 100% positive. The reservation, payment, arrival and return of deposit were all done seamlessly.
We took a chance on visiting the South side of Crete, having never visited the Island before. We were not disappointed - the drive to the villa from Heraklion was enjoyable and trouble-free. Driving over the mountains was hair-raising, but provided fantastic views. Arrival at the Stonehouse went smoothly and we immediately settled into the relaxed surroundings. It took a 5 minute drive into the village to get the food for a few days, and then back to the Villa to relax and take in the surroundings.
The view is great, The Villa was ideal for 2 adults and 2 kids, the pool is just the right size, with a chance to sunbathe by the pool or out on the front looking out to sea. I found late evenings with a glass of local wine particularly pleasant gazing at the constellations, the milky way, and spotting shooting stars.
The nearest beaches are 5 minutes away, slightly pebbly, but with a crystal clear unpolluted sea. We explored along the coast and found within a 5 minute drive at least 2 places to park up and carefully walk down to the less accessible beaches. More sandy & shaded, with rocky outcrops to go snorkelling around and jumping off. This became a regular activity for us. On one day we were the only people on the beach.
Although we prepared our own evening meals on a few occasions, we realised that it cost no more if we went down to Keratokampos (to the far end of the Village) and literally sat ON the sea-front in a traditional Greek taverna with all the locals.
I am guessing this experience is a million miles away from the big resorts on the North of the Island, and we were thankful for that.
The owners are very easy to contact and deal with. The Villa is perfect, and a true reflection of the website info.
Even the goats on the nearby hill came to say hello now and again to add a bit of fun for the kids. This is a place we would definitely come back to soon.
“Beautiful and Comfortable” Over the years, I, my wife and sometimes our extended families have rented several villas across Europe. This is by far the best equipped and most comfortable we have ever experienced. There was more than enough room for 3 generations of vTs. Martin and Sue have thought of everything. Even the wifi surpassed our expectations - they advised that streaming TV would not be possible, yet we streamed children's TV and Rugby matches from our Slingbox seamlessly all week!
We really loved it. The surrounding town is not without charm either. At the opposite end of the island to Chania, Makrigialos has the charm of a town that has yet to be invaded by the great unwashed on package holidays. The local restaurants are delightful and genuinely welcome your custom without being pushy at all. This town harks back to a period before 'all inclusive' had even been invented.
Whether you’re looking for a hedonistic holiday filled with good food and fine wine, or want to go island-hopping in search of ancient history, Greece never disappoints. It’s the perfect romantic escape for starry-eyed lovers everywhere.
Greece is home to some of the most important and impressive historical sights in the western world. Head to Athens where you can explore the Acropolis, the Parthenon and the
Temple of Hephaestus; these stunning structures are simply breathtaking. Other historical highlights include the Ruins of Delphi, the Heraklion Archaeological Museum on the island of Crete and the Epidaurus Ancient Theatre near Ligourio.
Blue Sea & Golden Sand
With the 11th longest coastline in the world, mainland Greece certainly has its fair share of beaches. And they are stunning. Super Paradise Beach in Mykonos is, as the name implies, a long sandy bay with crystal clear water. Sarakiniko Beach in Milos and Kolymbithres Beach in Paros are secluded quiet and relaxing, while the sunsets over Balos Beach in Crete will leave you feeling awestruck.
Food & Drink
If you like a glass of wine or two, then book a tour with Santorini Wine Adventure: you’ll be a wine connoisseur before you can say “yamas”. To find out how to make a moussaka and tackle a tzatziki, join one of the many food tours and cooking classes in Greece. And to find out more about Greece’s love affair with olives, visit the Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil in Sparta.

Perfekt stay for a family
We spend two weeks in this beautiful villa. Sylvia the manager was very helpful and Costas did a great job with the pool. The house was perfekt for our little family of 5 (kids 7 and 2 years old). The area is quiet and there is a beach and a supermarket in walking distance. Bigger supermarkets, bakeries and shops are close by in Tsilivi. The best beach in the area is at "Barracuda" which is a 5 min. drive away. All in all it was our best, relaxing holiday and we will come back for sure. …

Beautiful villa, fantastic location
This was such a gorgeous villa, my expectations were surpassed! Very comfortable rooms, both with en suite as well as a downstairs shower and toilet. The view was amazing, the pool was lovely. There was so much space both inside and outside. A number of restaurants are in walking distance, we ate at 4 different restaurants, all very good and all in easy walking distance. The BBQ facilities were great so we also ate in. The best beach to walk to was Kanali beach, just 1km away, lovely sandy beach and almost deserted! Just a perfect week. It’s an easy 20 minute drive from the airport, I would recommend hiring a car to visit the other beautiful spots of Kefalonia. …

Apartment with terrace and hot tub - Lagada Resort
Just returned from 2 week stay in apartment at Lagada resort. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, loved the apartment and Makrygialos. Apartment is so comfortable and felt at home really quickly. Lagada resort is well maintained and run. Reception staff always on hand if needed. Even though it was peak summer holidays both pools were quiet enough to always get a sunbed. Many times we had pool to ourselves. The terrace is the best feature of this apartment so nice to be able to sit outside in comfort. Loved Makrygialos and village feel, very unspoilt and friendly. Local butchers was brilliant. Beach very safe and main car park so convenient. Lots of local restaurants with great food. Apartment owners really helpful. Second visit to Crete and not our last …
