“Beautiful” 1st time travelling to Crete with my husband and 2 children, although I was a little daunted about driving for the 1st time abroad for such a long distance, it really wasn't bad at all, Lisa the owner gave us very specific directions which helped us a lot as our sat nav would not work, and we arrived at Bayview within 2 hours of landing which we expected. The area Bayview apartments are in I'd beautiful and a relaxed atmosphere surrounding it, the local people are so friendly including others within the apartments and the management team very helpful and informative of the island.
The apartment was clean and attractive and was large enough for 4 to live in with lots of outdoor space, the pool was one of the best I have ever used .We would definatly return
“A peaceful retreat” If you want to evade from the agitation of major cities like Khania, Rethymno or Iraklion, and stay in a place not far from the majority of places of interest of the western part of the island, in a charming, typical cretan village, then Vila Aloni should be your choice. The BBQ and the pool are the best arguments for it !
Sunny and beautiful, Crete is one of Greece's largest and most stunning islands. With a vast and varied landscape, there's plenty of natural beauty to explore and more than enough activities on offer to please the entire family. Why not book your next holiday rental in Crete and start exploring?
There are many cities to explore, each with its own charms. Whether you're seeking sunny beaches, rugged countryside, rolling mountains or bustling cities, there's a region for you. Or if you just can't choose, the excellent infrastructure makes it easy to travel between all the different environments.
From historic towns to quaint fishing villages, wild party resorts to sun-drenched sands, there's more than enough to keep the whole family happy here.
What to Do
Fitness fans looking for adventure will enjoy the challenge of hiking through the gorge in the stunning Samaria National Park.
The young and the reckless will love Malia, the island’s party capital. Renowned worldwide as a hotspot for visitors looking to really let loose and party, most clubs here are open until sunrise. For something a little more chilled out, do as the locals do and have a drink at a kafeneion, a cafe/bar that's at the heart of typical Greek life.
Top Crete Travel Tips
Whilst smoking generally isn't allowed indoors, this is pretty much ignored in most establishments all over the island. You'll often find people smoking inside restaurants and bars, so be aware. Try and get a table outside if you don’t want to be surrounded by smoke.
For an action-packed family vacation with plenty of attractions for all ages, be sure to book your next holiday rental in Crete.

Villa Despina in Prines Crete: A/C, Pr. pool, WiFi, Breakfast- as optional extra
A lovely villa, so well furnished with great outside area and pool.
A tranquil place with lovely views. A short walk to the village with choice of three tavernas, all very welcoming.

Great villa, very well equipped
We stayed at this village between 10 October and 24 October. The villa itself is lovely, very homely and has absolutely everything you need to self cater - including two very friendly homeless cats (who don't come inside the house). The nearest taverna is literally a stone's throw away but unfortunately, presumably because it only had outside seating, it had closed for the winter. However, the new taverna in the centre of the village was great, very friendly owners and excellent, very inexpensive food. We enjoyed an incredibly relaxing stay in Spilia and it's well placed for some beautiful beaches. If you like walking I would recommend getting a proper guide and map - we didn't and I wish we'd got organised to do this as the scenery is lovely. Spillia is ideal for a laid-back holiday, with no nightlife, just peace and quiet and great views, with plenty of places to visit. Highly recommended. …

Villa Galini - Sifis Apartments
What a lovely place which sums up Crete for us , as first time visiting.
Easy to get to from Heraklion airport- we hired a car . Once you’re in the main road it’s easy . Airport is so accessible to the main road . Then your journey begins to see such a beautiful unspoilt island which has everything . Mountains - beaches , lakes , nice people , cats , and all so green , which was a surprise. Food to die for - vegetarian heaven if you wanted to be . Honey and yoghurt galore .
We stayed at Sifis apartment . Ground floor - views all around - especially the back view from the bedroom is breathtaking if you are like us and love in a city . Mountains - and silence .
The host couldn’t be have been more friendly , the apartment suited all that we required as a couple . Very comfy beds and pillows . Not sure why anyone would want anything different . We used it as a base , we were out and about all day for a week . Sifi was more than happy to give us nice greek coffee . Sitting by the pool and palm and looking into the short distance to lovely Georgioupoleos. I walked easily on the road down to the village - took about 20 mins . The beach is great for swimming or lounging . Loads of places to eat - traditional or one of the main tour operator bars / restaurant.
It had a very calm feel - no juke boxes - no crowds - I’d say it mainly caters for couples or family .
Hiring a car is a must if you want to experience Crete - couldn’t begin to say where is the best place - too many choices - mountain villages or cities - all nice .
We would like to think we could go back - thank you Sifi and Charis .
