“An incredibly relaxing holiday in perfect comfort on a beautiful part of the Thames.” From start to finish this turned out to beat many 5 star hotel holidays we had all taken. Firstly the hosts are attentive, lovely and fun. They gave us 2 informed fabulous river trips. Would thoroughly recommend the Henley to Reading stretch. The lovely welcome and the superb, well equipped standard of the boat - just as described on the website, makes it easy to take to the water instantly. Little extras like soap, tea bags and even a dishwasher tablet was the icing. The spaciousness and comfort of the main room in the boat is the surprise. And how can one not enjoy croissants, fresh coffee and the papers on a river, with a bank for a bar/b/q and restaurants to die for. We ate at The Crooked Billet, Phyllis Court and Orwells. All brilliant. All of us slept like babies and felt so relaxed as if we had taken a week off. Our ages ranged from 21 - 86yrs old! And we all LOVED it. This truly is a holiday for everyone. What a gem..... and we all agreed we were thrilled to avoid airports and shall return.
“Quaint and Well Situated Houseboat” We had a lovely stay on the Oasis Houseboat as a family of three adults. It was far enough away from the main hub but still easily accessible to a grocery store. The sunset over the canal and other houseboats each evening was beautiful and made for a spectacular photo. Jennie was a pleasure to rent from and was quick to fix a problem that arose on the houseboat. Would highly recommend staying there for a couple with no kids or a group of friends. Clean, quaint and had the amenities we needed.
“Great Stay” We had a wonderful time staying on this beautiful boat, the owners where very helpful without being intrusive.
The boat had everything you needed for a self catering break, the bed rooms and bathrooms both matched our expectations based on the pictures.
The location is great for seeing the city, walking distance to all major sight seeing, pubs and shops. Also a large super market very close by too.
I look forward to returning some time soon.
“Extremely cute boat, quirky, clean and cosey :)” Siet was very welcoming and at the time when she wasnt there and we called her to help us with the cooker she arrived within 20 mins! The boat as about 15-20 min walk fro the station and if you rent a bike even quicker to get into town. All in all a great stay! If you do stay here make sure you come out of the station the tourist hut side, then turn left keeping the water on your right!
“Perfect for relaxing and seeing Paris” We spent a lovely week on Rupert`s barge. We were looking for something that had easy access to all the sights of Paris, but without the hustle and bustle of being in the city, and we found it. It was a short walk to the train station which took us straight into Montparnasse. Here we could rent a bike from one of the many Velib bike rental stations, or just walk and take in all there was to see. After a busy day in Paris we just relaxed on the deck of the barge and watched the traffic on the Seine. We had 3 teenage boys with us who all enjoyed the experience of living on a barge. They also very much appreciated the free internet so that they could keep in touch with friends. There were both boulangerie`s, supermarket`s and restaurants within walking distance of the barge, so no need to have a car to get anywhere, ours sat parked on the walkway beside the barge almost the whole time we were there. Thank you Rupert for the experience of living in your home!
