“first class pet friendly cottage in good position” used cottage as base to visit surrounding area.very pleased with the amenities. Clean and well equipped could not fault, had a very pleasant few days.
“Home sweet Home” It was a distinguish unique apportunity to stay at the Chapel suite where the panoramic spacious endless green areas and remarkable natural portraits. The chapel location gave us an accessebility through it's safe quite location on the main road. 3 minutes driving to ASDA will give you a good time shopping from A to Z. The Chapel is tidy, comfortable, well arranged, with 5 stars supplies including the complementaries. The upper floor takes you to a different atmosphere where you enjoy the back yard and the stars through the telescope. It was a great plesure time for me while cooking in the open flame kitchen everything i needed was there i did't have to dig out. The two bedrooms and bathrooms were both clean, newly furnished and warm. Although it was wide enough yet it was cozy. I really had a great romantic time that i recommend and would like to go back there soon without any hesitation. I would like to thank Mr. David Burke you were so helpfull, kind and Largenes.

“Lovely spacious house in a fantastic location with great facilities for children” We had a lovely relaxing week in a great location. We rented the property as two families with four small children and a dog. There was plenty of space both inside and out for children to run around with lots of toys available for the children to play with. The dining table was great for big group meals and the two fridges had plenty of room for our enormous Tesco shop which delivered to the property on the night we arrived. The property was nice and warm, due to its underfloor heating, which meant it was possible to walk around with socks on and much easier to build lego castles on the floor.
The location was great with lots of different activity options for wet and dry weather. We did a variety of local walks with children, munros for the adults, runs in the great woods behind the property, visits to castles, soft play, cinema and some shopping all within an hours drive.
I would recommend the Old Kirk to any family looking for a relaxing week away.
“fantastic cottage” beautifully renovated cottage, with everything you need for a great holiday peacefull and tranquil surroundings, easy to find and central for the areas attractions and very helpful and friendly owners.Very well equipped including barbeque and indoor games and dvds.would recomend it to everybody.
All the family loved it great holiday!
“beautiful place and spotless” Stayed at the chapel for the New Year. Stunning views from the master bedroom . Beautiful place to stay . Spotless throughout . Would recommend to all my family and friends . Great communication with owner.
“Amazing bolt hole in a super location” Everything about the chapel was brilliant.
The warm welcome from the neighbors (hello Kev ), the beautiful and tranquil setting and the great village pub..amazing food and lovely staff.
The farm shop at Wing Hall is superb, selling gorgeous local food, it made me wonder why I had brought supplies from home!
One note of caution: we are reasonably fit but the hill on bikes from both directions between Wing and Rutland Water was an absolute lung buster...but that first pint once done will have been well earned
“Idilic.” Beautiful setting, if you want peace and quite, this is the place for you. Nick and Derek have done a fantastic job on the restoration. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars, the bedroom was not to our liking, low ceiling. But had a superb week exploring the area.
“Excellent cottage” Excellent cottage in every aspect, comfortable, clean and everything you could require at your fingertips. A pure pleasure to have stayed at this wonderful gem. St Fillans itself is a quiet little location with great walks around the loch, yet near enough for driving to some beautiful and historical places of interest. I will certainly return to this excellent cottage in the future.
“Loved it and can't wait to return.” The converted Chapel is beautifully transformed into a wonderful home in a delightful setting and the owners have thought of simply everything you could possibly wish for and need. We returned home last Saturday having enjoyed our best ever week in the Forest which is a huge compliment as we have been going every year for about 22 years. We came this time with our daughter and her fiance and walked and cycled around 70 plus miles all from the Chapel, the weather although slightly inclement did not dampen our stay and in fact gave us the excuse to light the fabulous log burner and light a few candles whilst enjoying evenings in after cooking with a good bottle of wine snuggled up on the three lovely squiggy sofas reading or watching films on the big flat screen TV, so cosy and homely, neighbours were very friendly and all in all I can say I would move there tomorrow. I hope Doreen continues to let the Chapel as this has now become our firm favourite.
“A Hidden Gem” We arrived at The Old Chapel and were met by its quaint charm. It is in a beautiful location and is ideal to get away from it all. There were 6 in our party including 3 teenagers and we all adored it. It was a real home from home and had everything that you could wish for to make your stay an enjoyable one. Even the neighbours whom we spoke to were a pleasure to chat with. A lovely old place to stay in which oozed charmed combined with modern day living. We loved it and would not hesitate to stay there again. A big thank you to Geoff, the owner, whom we spoke to and who was really helpful.
“Wonderful accommodation - would highly recommend!” My family and I stayed in The Chapel and Well Cottage and had a wonderful time. The cottages were lovely and had everything we needed. I would like to thank Suzanne for being so hospitable. She made sure every member of my family would be comfortable, from my 1 year old niece to my elderly uncle with limited mobility. The location was fantastic too with a Tesco nearby and with the beach a very short drive away. I would highly recommend these cottages and we are definitely going to come back for another holiday.
“A dozen trips to England and this was the absolute best!” Our stay at the Chancel was fabulous! The property is picturesque, comfortable and outfitted like our home - not a rental. The gardens, where we spent many afternoons, are both peaceful and beautiful. The interior tastefully incorporates the stained glass windows, carved stone arches and vaulted ceilings of the original 16th century church (moved to its current location in the 19th century). It's conveniently situated within easy driving distance to many interesting towns (Lyme Regis, Swanage, Wareham, Dorchester, Netherbury, etc.) Don't miss breakfast at the schoolhouse in Moreton, fossil hunting along the Jurassic Coast, and touring the ghost town of Tyneham. The sunset from Purbeck Hill is fantastic. And, for military fans, the Bovington Tank Museum is a must. (Have a care, as the Army actually trains its tank drivers on nearby public roads.)
We've traveled from the U.S. to visited England and Scotland many times. This was the most charming and relaxing trip yet. We plan to return to savor it again very soon.
“Perfect for cycling and exploring with friends and families” Really loved Depot Rd, very creatively designed making the stay more memorable. The set up for mountain biking the Afan trails was ideal. We stayed with two other families, the fantastic kitchen and huge dining table made for social and fun meal times. The bike shed & hose wash and the laundry room made the clean up and close down after the rides very quick and simple. Recomended for biking and for families that want to enjoy some great outdoor locations, all nearby.
“A beautiful appointed and maintained property set in stunning gardens” A beautiful converted chapel, with many original features and extensive garden to the rear of the property complete with summerhouse and stream. The chapel has a well equipped kitchen and utility room complete with washer, dryer, dishwasher large fridge freezer and all important wine/beer fridge. There are 4 generous sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with excellent facilities. They have thought of most things to make your stay a pleasurable one, they have an extensive supply of up to date DVD's and a good CD collection. There is a log burner in the lounge and a plentiful supply of logs complete with operating instructions. The garage has been converted into a games room and ideal for older children in warmer weather. The beds are made up for your arrival and all the bedding is of excellent quality and so are the towels it is a pleasure to stay there. We have just had our third stay at the chapel and look forward to another relaxing visit next year.
“An excellent base for a Norfolk holiday.” A warm welcome from Ian and some lovely scones on our arrival.
A great place to sit and relax or to use as a base to explore the countryside and great beaches of Norfolk.
“Amazing views.” Arrived to a very warm welcome by owners Linda and Gary. What a lovely place - like home from home. Exceptionally clean with a lovely homely feel. Very well equipped, had everything you need for a break away. Spectacular views across the countryside. Great location within easy reach of Looe and the surrounding areas. Very peaceful retreat. Linda and Gary great owners Gave us a lot of information and left us a lovely welcome pack. Would definitely recommend a holiday here
“Beautiful house in a wonderful setting” The house was warm and wecoming for our party of 3. The main dining room could house many more and had a piano with great acoustics. We were within easy walking distance of 3 distillaries, (Ardbeg had an excellent restaurant, Lagavullan had excellent whisky). The sea was a few minutes away on foot. We had lots of country walks and explored much of Islay, though there is still lots more to see. We loved Islay!
The house retained the original features of the church. The step up to the kitchen might make it difficut for people with disabilities, but 2 of the bedrooms are on the groundfloor, and we found it excellent in every way.
“Secluded Getaway with a difference” We wanted somewhere quiet and away from it all after a hectic year and St Mary's was exactly the right choice. The church has been extremely well renovated to provide comfortable accommodation within the constraints of planning - a fabulous job has been done still leaving the main part of the church untouched. We loved the acoustics and sat a couple of nights in the church listening to music. The Pen y Bont hotel across the road was warm and welcoming and the views were spectacular with plenty of walks on offer. On New Year's Eve we sat at the top of the Churchyard watching the fireworks across the lake - a really fabulous start to 2015. Thanks to Peter for his hospitality - especially trying to find us a mechanic! If you have been put off by the Eco Loo comments - which we very nearly were - don't be. I'm so glad we decided to experience St Mar's ourselves - Thank you for a lovely stay.
“Super, comfortable, spotless , atmospheric” We enjoyed a week's break with 4 children aged 13years to 7 weeks. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped and spotless. The place was warm and all the bathrooms were clean and had good showers. The living room was comfortable and the children enjoyed playing with the wooden train track (even the teenager).
No wifi is probably a blessing in disguise. You then have a real break!
The only minor inconvenience was the fridge acting as a freezer. I am sure this is easily rectified.
The location is ideal for exploring the highlands and has a super beach closeby.
Mrs Canavan was helpful and friendly in all her communication.
Would definitely revisit with my mum in law who could use the ground floor bathroom.
