“Five stars for rest and relaxation” We stayed at The Hemmel at Old Town Farm in Otterburn for a long weekend but felt like we'd been away for weeks. As soon as we arrived in this stylish, comfortable barn conversion we started to unwind. The rental is set in beautiful rolling countryside with fantastic views over the nearby hills and farmland and you can't help but leave your worries behind and enjoy the peace and quiet. The rental comprises a large, high-ceilinged, open plan living room/diner/kitchen, a sunroom, two bedrooms, a fantastic shower room and two gardens. The main living area has open beams, skylights and lovely deep windows that show off the depth of the barn walls. There is a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen and large rustic dining table. You don't mind washing up with views like this, but there is a big dishwasher too :-) The lounge area is gorgeous, with a wood burning stove and French doors to both sides. This gives you views of the hills to one side, and the large walled garden to the other, and makes the room really light and airy. It was lovely to open all the doors and have that indoors/outdoors living experience, where your garden is like another room of the house. The sunroom overlooks the walled garden. Perfect for watching the little one play whilst you read a book or have a lazy coffee. There are two stylish bedrooms with comfy beds (one king, one twin). We loved the 'arrow slit' windows in our master bedroom. The bathroom is amazing. Well, a shower room really, but WHAT a shower! This shower is the biggest I've seen, with a fab 'rain' style shower head. You also have access to two gardens. There is a private rear garden with a patio and lawned area, overlooking the fields and hills of Otterburn. Perfect for a glass of wine watching the sunset. You also have the large lawned garden at the front of the rental (shared with the owner, Kate), which was a total suntrap and perfect for our daughter to run around with a football, whilst we watched the bluetits and occasional woodpecker on the bird feeder! The rental is set on a farm and our daughter enjoyed seeing the resident pigs as well as watching to sheep and lambs in nearby fields. There is a fantastic private woodland area which leads to a shallow stream and we loved putting our wellies on and walking down there after dinner each night for a paddle. I imagine older children would have great fun building dens in there. In the surrounding area, we enjoyed visiting Bellingham. We particularly recommend 'Carriages' tearoom, where you sit in an old train carriage and enjoy really lovely homemade food. Fountains tearoom was a close second.

“This cottage is a must for anybody staying in this area.” This cottage is set in a most beautiful location, with stunning views and tranquillity to match. Our weekend away was for a family gathering. The location was ideal; away from the hustle and bustle but not too far to drive to a livelier setting. Our host and hostess were brilliant, taking care of our dog whilst we were out for a day. The accommodation was cleaned to a high standard with cake on our arrival. What more could you ask. Highly recommended. THANKS.

“Perfect weekend away” The cottage and stay was perfect. David the host was on hand to offer tips about the local area, and was very easy to communicate with before the booking as well. Would highly recommend,

“Lovely stay, perfect weather.” My wife and I have had a wonderful week away in the Lake District staying in this lovely property. The property was clean and tidy and surprisingly spacious and has everything you could need for a relaxing stay, the welcome pack of wine, bread, butter, milk and orange juice was a nice touch. The location is perfect for walking especially down to Ullswater and Aira Force which is beautiful, and also ideally located to get to Keswick for shopping and all that the Lake District has to offer.

“Batty barn” An absolutely beautiful property with gorgeous surroundings. The property was ready for arrival with fresh fruit and eggs left for us (these were lovely too). Beds were very comfy and the second bedroom was a lot bigger than expected! The photos on internet do not do the property justice in the slightest! A home from home! We will most definitely be back in the near future!

“An extremely comfortable, well-equipped cottage” Set back from the main road and surrounded by fields this is a peaceful and refreshing place to stay. The cottage is tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard, with a modern, well-equipped kitchen. Most importantly, the owners are just next door on the farm and are genuinely welcoming and helpful in every respect. Clogher is a lovely valley with many beautiful walks, and places of interest - for example, a chambered cairn, St Patrick's chair and well and a hill-fort are all nearby. It is less than an hour's drive to west the beautiful loughs of Fermanagh and to the east, Armagh with it's cathedrals and shops. The cottage is a perfect base for those who enjoy walking, visiting places of interest or just enjoying the peace and beauty of the area.

“Wonderfully perfect place to stay” We stayed here for two weeks this last June, and it lived up to all the great ratings by others. The location outside Derry was perfect for us, as we traveled on short one- and two-day trips along the Causeway Coast in Northern Ireland and and over into County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. The home itself is spacious, comfortable in every way and well appointed, with pretty much everything you would need during your stay. The only unanticipated limitation we encountered was a technical one -- a lack of robust bandwidth and mobile network coverage -- technological limitations that, in fairness, plagued every other place we stayed in rural Northern Ireland. (That said, the widescreen TV made up for it, and was better than anywhere else we stayed!) Bevin was fantastic and totally helpful at every turn. We soooooo want to return to stay here.

“Awesome long weekend.” Visiting from upstate New York we had a wonderfully relaxing stay at this beautiful, secluded cottage, which looks out over a picturesque tidal estuary dotted with boats. The cottage was immaculate with everything we needed for our long weekend. One of my daughters was particularly delighted to find it was only a short drive to "Doc Martin's house", the fishing village where one of her favourite TV shows was filmed! They also loved seeing all the farm animals, meeting the wonderfully friendly family who live in the nearby farm house, and visiting the convenient local beaches to play in the tide pools.

“Perfect whatever your age” I booked the Granary for my family of five adults, three singles and a double, who were to attend a family wedding in Otterburn village, one mile away down a country lane. A Taxi is available in the village. The garden is the perfect place to relax after a day out exploring the wonderful countryside, fields of sheep, leading your eye to the heather covered and forrested hills beyond. A 'Dark Sky' night is magical - wrap up and gaze at the starry, starry night. The coast has a route from castle to castle. Hadrian's Wall is well within reach. Keilder Water is stunning. The area has numerable attractions for a shorter day out. The delightful Granary is beautiful, tastefully and very well equipped and the owner offers a warm welcome. Another visit beckons.

“Relaxing, friendly stay in an amazing location” First of all the location is great with lots of great local wàlks and close to many of the key tourist places including Chatsworth house (don't forget to visit the farm shop too), Boswell, Buxton and the caverns. The village is small but still has a nice local pub, great Indian restaurant and amazing fish and chips at the toll house. Helen was an amazing host, friendly and very welcoming supplying us with a lovely breakfast hamper for the week. The accommodation is small but cozy but more than adequate and served its purpose for us. The only slight negative was there is no closed off garden which may be an issue for those with large dogs but of course there are plenty of walking spots on the doorstep.

“Perfect retreat” This is my second visit to The Old Workshop as I enjoyed it so much the first time. The owners are extremely kind and thoughtful and the property is beautiful and completed to a high standard. It is also spotlessly clean. The cottage is homely which all comforts needed which some stunning views, yet close to ameneties and plaves to visit. I will definately be returning forna third visit!
