“We could not tear ourselves away!” We stayed at Chateau des Egrons in June 2011 and we had a week of hot sun and a second week of cloud and rain. Our parents and our young children were with us and we did not know what to expect. The property has lots of space and people found their favourite personal spots when needed but we could all eat, sit, drink watch or hear stuff and play together regularly. The house is magical as the reviews all say but we found that we were sad to go on outings and very pleased to return. We had been attempting to book for a couple of years and this time we booked a year in advance! We are planning a return with friends in a year or two. Fantastic place and so elegant but welcoming.

“Living like a lord.” The house and grounds are lovely and take two days just to explore. Add in the fact it has a lovely pool and is all fenced including the grounds so kids can have a little freedom to play. You may even find a den we built in the woods. It's only a couple of hours drive from Calais but it does mean the weather is only a little warmer than the UK.

“Beautiful chateau with lots of character. Great group holiday” An extended family stay of 3 generations enjoyed this beautiful chateau in July/August 2013. The house certainly has the WOW factor yet is not stuffy and is bright and airy and perfectly cool in a hot summer. the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need and plenty of fridge and storage space. the bedrooms were beautiful and each unique (the photos dont really do it justice) and 6 ensuites were handy though there wasnt always enough hot water for everyone to have a hot shower at end of day by pool. With such a large party (16 of us) it was great to get space and not feel on top of one another. Pool area was beautiful and very sheltered which would be perfect if weather wasn't so hot, as for us we simply used the pool to cool down! there is now wifi access though due to such large house it only really worked in Kitchen area which was not a problem for us. The housekeeper came everyday and was very friendly and helpful. The area itself is lovely and we did a few day trips to Poitier and took a canoe ride in Chinon which was beautiful town and would spend some more time there. There was plenty of literature about the area (& house) though not so much if it in English. Due to us being such a large party we tended to eat in in evenings. The supermarket in the village had everything we needed and the table in the kitchen fits everyone around, as well as outdoor area for bbq. the grounds are lovely and great to explore, there was a herb garden and fruit trees - cherries were perfectly ripe while we were there.
