“Beautiful family log cabin in stunning peaceful location - sheer bliss!” We have just returned from a few blissful days staying at the Ben Lui Log Cabin in Loch Awe. The cabin is very comfortable and has just been renovated with a kitchen that has absolutely everything you need, the open plan design is very cosy with dining table and sitting room with TV/DVD if required. My kids loved the triple bunk room with a fantastic huge window that overlooks Loch Awe just 50 meters away with free fishing rights for cabin guests. The view is spectacular and well worth the 2 hour drive from Glasgow. The heating was very welcome on the rainy day we had to keep us cosy and there were free games supplied to keep us amused. The double bedroom had a great recess area under the wardrobe where our dog crate could fit into and our little pooch was very happy indeed as a home from home. There is also lovely patio doors that open onto a full length balcony supplied with table and bench for eating outdoors again with beautiful views and very peaceful watching the kids and dog play in the surrounding garden area. The log cabin site has a brilliant community centre that has a restuarant and bar and also offers a takeaway service to eat in your cabin. The menu is varied and at reasonable prices, highly recommend the Surf and Turf or the Mixed Grill, very tasty after exploring the Dalavich Oakwood Trail or Avich Falls not far from the cabin site where you can let your dog run free along with the children. The whole place was of a high standard and felt safe and welcoming. We will definately return very soon as it is a special place to escape from city life.

“loch awe holiday” a superb cottage in a slightly remote place with great owners just next door. Excellent facilities. If the weather had been better we could have just sat in the lovely garden all day.

“Fantastic accomodation” This property was just like home from home. All equipment required for a relaxing stay. Onwers who live next door are very friendly and helpful Fresh eggs from hens roaming the garden. Property very isolated but the comfort and peacefulness more than made up for this. If you want a holiday away from it all with fine views but with all the mod cons you would not be dissapointed if you stayed here. Thank you to the owners for making us feel so welcome

Loch Awe holidays

The village of Loch Awe lies on the banks of a loch bearing the same name in the Scottish Highlands. Popular with outdoor enthusiasts and anglers, you’ll find a range of holiday rentals in Loch Awe, no matter what type of accommodation you require.

About Loch Awe

The village lies on the banks of Loch Awe, the third-largest freshwater loch in Scotland (and the longest in the UK).

People come here to fish, hike, climb and explore the great outdoors, with Loch Lomond, Oban and Glencoe all close-by. For an authentic taste of life in the Scottish Highlands, it doesn’t get much better than a break in Loch Awe.

What to Do

There are several castles in the area worth visiting too, such as the 16th Century Barcaldine Castle and Castle Stalker. Or head for Upper Sonachan Garden during Rhododendron flowering season for a spectacularly colourful display and some great photo opportunities.

Silver Birch Log Cabin
Perfect Family Holiday

Our cabin was well-equipped and comfortable. The scenery is magnificent. There is plenty to see and do - the only downside is a long drive on single-track lanes to get to the main roads. Lovely, friendly & helpful people. There is a little shop that sells the basics and a wonderful social club with restaurant that serves excellent food, another take away and onsite laundry facilities. We had a wonderful time, perfect for all ages. We will be going back!see more
Strae Cabin
Perfectly homely

A gorgeously warm and homely cabin, nicely located near the stream with little birds regular visitors to the bird feeders on the balcony. From inside the cabin we saw deer and red squirrels through the lovely large windows. It seemed everything necessary had been thought of such as the well thought out place to dry the towels. No freezer compartment though so no ice for the G&T. Nevertheless it is ideal for a romantic getaway for a couple, but would have thought it a bit small (but serviceable) for a family. The local post office caters for everything and warm and welcoming staff there. The club house does great fish & chips, but do watch their opening hours out of season. Only regret is we didn’t try the curry house not that far away..Black Rock...spotted it on the way home and looks fab so maybe next time! There will definitely be another visit. Felt more like a home than a holiday home. Thank you so so much.see more
Ben Lui
Hidden gem in a stunning location

I have just returned from a week in Ben lui, Dalavich with my family including 3 boys aged 11, 4 & 2. We did not want to leave! What a stunning location, Dalavich itself is a small very friendly community hidden on the bank of loch awe. There is a community run social club and restaurant with stunning views over the loch, a play room and playground for the kids too. Theres also a shop/cafe. The cabin itself was basic yet welcoming. My eldest loved sleeping on the hidden bed in the living room. We spent the evenings around the wood burner watching the bats fly around outside. The only things I could mention about the cabin that could require improvement is instructions for the oven (i couldn't find them in the welcome back and still not sure what the symbols meant!) And a small shelf under the mirror in the bedroom just big enough for a pair of glasses. Apart from that th cabin had everything we needed. It's a short walk down to the shore and my boys enjoyed floating around in rubber rings on the water. There are lovely walks nearby with incredible views. The nearest supermarket is a good 30-45 mins away so make sure you go prepared! We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning our next one.see more
