“An excellent place to stay” The property was in excellent condition, modern through out. Shelia and George we the best hosts one could wish for,always on hand to iron out any problems. Apart from the weather, which could have been better,the Shetland Islands lived up to expectations. We were sad when it was time to take our leave of this wonderful place. “Excellent base in Lerwick” This is not my first stay with Self Catering Shetland, and every time the accomodation is clean and in perfect order. The proprietors are warm and thoughtful, and every detail is taken care of - including a few locally produced treats to provide a welcome on arrival! I've stayed in a fair few cottages, and these cottage set the standard by which I judge the others. This is my first choice of places to stay on Shetland.

“Lovely setting and house” Stayed for weekend with friends. Our tenth anniversary of knowing Ron and Irene. Warm welcome from Gillian's sister. Lovely goodies for us too start with. House immaculate. Very well stocked. Compact but so so comfie. :) A really good touch a rucksack with flask and stuff for picnic. Numerous maps and info. First class. :)

“If I could do it all again I would.” Absolutely loved everything about my visit to Shetland and can't wait to go back and wouldn't hesitate about booking the accommodation again. We were given a fantastic welcome into a clean, bright and warm apartment on the outskirts of Lerwick that had everything covered from pots and pans through to a bottle of the local ale (of which I tried every variety until I was fit to burst). As it says in the title of the review, if I could do it all again I would. I very much hope that if someone reads this then they go and do it too.

“Fantastic!” Gillian was brilliantly helpful, arranging for me to get in early due to travel times and the place was ready for me to sit and have a cuppa on arrival (milk in fridge!). Beautiful place, stunning views and ideal place to stay. I was there for business but I could easily come back for leisure. Built to a high standard, I instanly felt at home. The place was a little out of the town, which was great for me and offered amazing views, but you would need transport ideally to get about. Supermarket a few minutes drive away and less than 10 to the town centre. The little touches made the stay even more, the walker pack ready to go, biscuits for my cuppa and a little taste of Shetland produce was the icing on the cake. I would thoroughly recommend this to all, and I will certainly look to book again for future trips.

“shetland in winter” shetland in winter is just as fascinating in a different way, the short days of low level sun giving dramatic effects, the night skys free of light pollution, the weather by turns wild and calm. i have stayed at the decca twice in winter , each time in tammie norie and consider it to be an ideal base, the owners have convereted the decca building into comfortable well equiped friendly accommodation,warm and secure when the winter storms rage outside.a particular attraction for me is the proximity of the local airport at tingwall from where two small planes service the islands of foula, fair isle and skerries, often in winter no need to book, just turn up and see what is on offer. you can enjoy an amazing low level flight with views that really are stunning.if you feel jaded by big airports and commercial airlines, try this.have already booked my next visit at the decca.
