“its a little gem, a great escape for my husband and I..” We have gone now for the last 7 years, we always go the beginning of January because its the ideal place to escape after our busy Christmas & New Year period. Its beautiful setting with the local pubs serving good food and drinks, and the amazing walks just steps away makes it the perfect place for us, it will alway be special to us...
“Luxury accommodation with an amazing view” The new lodge at fisherground has everything you could need. It is very well thought out, with all fixtures and fittings to excellent standard. The rooms were spacious and with two luxury bathrooms with two teenagers was a great bonus (with added luxury of a heated floor no less!).
Wood burner made it even more cosy.
Views were stunning - no need to turn the tv on.
Well situated - short walk to pub and numerous potential walks from your front door.
“Wonderful farmhouse!” Huge thank you for a lovely stay. The farm house was just wonderful - it was warm, cosy and inviting after a wet days hike; there was plenty of hot water for baths and showers and the drying room was super for all our wet and muddy boots. We even managed to sit in the garden and watch the amazing birds. The housekeeping staff were fantastic - the farm house was perfect when we arrived and they were around during the week if we needed anything. Eskdale is a beautiful part of the Lake District and the farmhouse was a super base to explore . What was particularly great was the number of trail heads literally right on the doorstep - stone circles, tarns, fells, rivers, waterfalls etc. We explored Stanley Gill by foot,; Hardknott Pass was a few miles away; Wastwater and Wasdale were a short hike away or a short drive. Also, the Ravenglass & Eskdale steam train is a short walk from the house and we took to Muncaster Castle. Thanks again!
“Lovely cosy break” Fantastic gem in the middle of the beautiful Eskdale. Very spacious but with a cosy feel. The kitchen is a great social place - easily enough space for 6. The location is perfect - close to the peaks and some very welcoming pubs. Thank you so much to the wonderful hosts
“A Wonderful Introduction to the Lake District” This was our first trip to the Lake District and I'm delighted that I stumbled on these cottages. They are brilliantly situated in a lovely quiet village in the western lakes district. I didn't appreciate how lovely and quiet everything was until we drove around to some of the other towns and lakes and then I realized what a gem we had found. Greg, the owner was incredibly helpful with great tips on walks and hikes in the valley.
The cottage itself was very cosy and because we had such beautiful weather we would often spend the late afternoon laying out in the garden or riverside picnic area that is part of the property. It was a wonderful trip and was the perfect antidote to a hectic season in London.
