Fernyford Barn is a luxury, fully equipped self-catering accommodation set on a working farm and run by our family. We did our best to make sure that our holiday cottage is a perfect blend of modern facilities and good old country comfort and cosiness.
Fernyford Barn is a delightful property with stone floor downstairs and solid oak flooring on the first floor, exposed oak and stone lintels giving warmth and character. There is under-floor heating downstairs and in the bathroom. Recently gaining Four Stars and a Gold Award from Quality in Tourism, it has an open plan living room with fire place (electric stove) and 50" TV, fully-equipped kitchen, double bedroom with 5ft bed and second bedroom with two single beds. Sleeps 4 (+1). The property has its own patio area to sit out and enjoy the peaceful location.
Fernyford Barn is ideal for couples and families. A warm welcome for babies and children.
It is the ideal accommodation for a relaxing country holiday - set in the glorious Peak District countryside. Perfect for walking, cycling, bird watching and the many attractions of the Peak District including Bakewell, Buxton, Chatsworth House and Alton Towers.
It offers a perfect balance between being able to completely unwind, or, if you prefer, getting involved with the day to day life of a working farm! We will be happy to offer our guests the opportunity to experience seeing the livestock on the farm, the different farming operations throughout the year and to taste quality meat produced on the holding. Fernyford Farm is a traditional farm, and we love living here. This is a great part of the world, and we would really enjoy being able to share it with our guests. So, we look forward to welcoming you here on the farm! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you!
Fernyford is a great place to get a feel of what life is like on a working farm. The farm enterprises consist of a herd of 20 Belted Galloway cows with followers and a flock of 200 Swaledale ewes with the emphasis being the production of top quality breeding stock. We also have some free-range chickens, a friendly Collie dog Liz and Sparkle, the cat.
The latest news: We have become the proud owners of "the world's cutest sheep” - the first VALAIS BLACKNOSE SHEEP in Middle England here at Fernyford Farm, in the heart of Peak District!

About this location
The Derbyshire region
Big Fernyford Farm is located in open countryside on Reapsmoor, between Longnor and Warslow in The Peak District National Park. Fernyford is a great place to get a feel of what life is like on a working farm.
We work really hard to look after and improve the ecological aspects of the farm. The farm's landscape character is enhanced with traditional stone walls and preserved historical features. We use non-intensive methods to rear Swaledale Sheep and Belted Galloway cattle. We've planted new hedges, made new scrape ponds. We like to see wildlife thrive, working with Natural England and The National Park Authority to create wildflower-rich meadows (with hey rattle, ox-eye daises, buttercups) and habitats for upland birds such as lapwing, curlew and snipe.
The farm was awarded the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark in recognition of its conservation management. Our environmental messages run throughout the work we do.
This area is justifiably famous for bird-watching. We have frequent visits from hen harriers, short eared owls, barn owls to name just a few.
You can find a range of flora including orchid and bluebells and encounter native British fauna: badger and fox at Fernyford.
Along with bats that roost here and in nearby properties, we have wild deer visiting us on a regular basis.
