“Ideal house for a gathering your friends and family” 6 adults, 6 children and a dog fitted comfortably - with room to spare - to spend New Year together. We recieved a friendly welcome from George and a lovely Christmassy hamper - thank you. Christmas decs and fairy lights gave the Arc a homely feel. The weather was crazy! Waterproofs and wellies. Heavy rain with strong winds meant we spent less time outside, but we made good use of the pool table, TVs, games, DVDs and WiFi. George came back to help with WiFi promptly, despite a long journey. The main kitchen had everything we needed. We didn’t really use the smaller kichens on the upper levels - although the fridge on the middle level was perfectly positioned and sized for beer. There were plenty of heaters and bathrooms. Thanks for making our stay so easy.

“Great place to stay” This lovely house is in a great location with everything you need; nice and clean, great facilities/equipment and own parking is a bonus. The main town is only over the road with plenty of lovely shops, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance - not a big brand chain in sight, just perfect! Find your way up the cobbled streets to the Hope Anchor Hotel for a great view towards Camber Castle and the sea. Plenty to do in the local area too whether you are adults on a break or with children. Beautiful beach at Camber only a short drive away with plenty of parking. Also visited Bodium and Dover castle plus the lovely town of Battle. Definitely worth visiting The Chapel Down Winery for wine tasting, walk round the vineyards and a great shop selling their wine and other local produce.

“Just perfect. When can we come back?” We had a wonderful half term stay at Rye Bay Beach House. Superb location, (easy drive from London), perfectly equipped and furnished, very comfortable beds! Great showers, easy car parking, great restaurants and beautiful walks into medieval gem, Rye. The house is just steps from the beautiful Cambersands; the kids had a ball; when they weren't swimming, flying kites or jumping around in the dunes, they entertained themselves in the perfectly kitted out games room situated on the ground floor of the house. Wonderful to end the days with a glass of wine or two on the balcony in the evening sun! Nice touch with a little hamper of local products to welcome you on arrival. Rebecca and Kuros have given a great deal of thought to their lovely house. Thankyou; we will definitely book with you again.

“Good time at Boathouse 28th October” My husband and myself had a very good stay at the Boathouse well equipped clean and really well situated to get into Rye with its very good restaurants and historic pubs. The bed is great my husband is 6 foot 6 and he had plenty of room parking at the back in easy reach and Rye only 7 minutes walk away. All round very relaxing week would definitely go back.

“Wonderfully relaxing, definitely recommend” We loved our stay at Beach Retreat, thank you Ian and Nicola. The cottage is perfect for a family of 4 (and a dog!) for a week. It is clean and in very good condition, located in the lovely Whitesands development of Camber, and fitted with everything we needed. The beach really is only a 10-minute walk away, so we could easily pop back and forth during the day. The beach itself is beautiful, with soft sand, rolling dunes and shallow waves for the kids and dog to play in. The lovely town of Rye is a 15-minute drive away and definitely worth a visit on the windy or overcast days, not ideal for the beach. We happily recommend Beach Retreat and hope to return one day for another visit.

“Relaxing late break” Myself and hubby stayed at Sea Breeze for a last minute break. Ive always wanted to go to Rye and this lovely new cottage was within an easy drive to it. We booked late and had great service from Richard who gave us lots of info about the area and was keen to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The owners had left us some groceries and a bottle of wine, which was a nice touch. The property is on a new development of houses that reminded me of New England- ours was right next to a fenced (safe) pond, full of frogs-most interesting! The cottage was very clean and well equiped-although not huge, there was just us 2 in a cottage that slept 4 .We used the single beds coz the double was a bit 2 low for us - we had a wonderful couple of nights sleep! The shower was also fab. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather and found he beach quality to be a great surprise - lovely sand and close enough to walk to.We went into Rye to eat at one of the many pubs and had an enjoyable night chatting to the locals. The next day we went to look around Rye and viewed the presentation at the heritage centre first- this gave us info and history before we walked around the small town and we also went up the church tower - great views. When it was time to come home, I persuaded my husbamd to take me to the outlet shopping village at ashton - he read the paper whilst I shopped - a perfect end to a perfect weekend!

“A class act!” This property is a real treasure! Every need is catered for. Fitted to a high spec and beautifully decorated. It has a very private garden/patio space and you instantly feel at home. it was nice to have peace and quiet but still be within driving distance of the sights. All that said, what makes it really special is Bob & Sally, it’s very kind and generous hosts. Make a booking - you won’t regret it!

“Fantastic place to stay” Loved the fact that we we're so close to the beach which was empty so had it to ourselves pretty much all of the time. The cottage was great. Very comfortable and clean and well cared for. Had a superb week. Would definitely go back.

Rye holidays

The wide variety of shops, charming English style pubs, and quaint cobblestone streets provide a lovely backdrop for the town of Rye. Explore the ruins of Camber Castle, shop at the trendy boutiques along Main Road, or head to the docks for a beautiful sunset.

While you're in Rye, be sure to also save time for some of these must-see attractions and activities:

  • Romney Marshes: These wetlands cover over 100 square miles and even have their own breed of sheep that thrive in the conditions of the marshlands.
  • Saxon Shore Way: This long distance footpath takes you past several of the main attractions in town.
  • Martello Towers: Built as part of England's coastal defence in the 1800s, several of the forts that stand 40 feet high still remain fully intact and have been preserved as historic monuments.
  • Go Kitesurfing: Head to Rye Harbor or Camber Sands during the summer months to try your hand at this unique sport where you're drawn across the water on a small board that's powered by a kite.
  • Rye Country Market: Head to this local market where you can buy locally made crafts, plants and fresh farm produce.

The East Sussex area of the United Kingdom has several events and festivals throughout the year, and many of them are within a short drive of your future getaway home. Watch the exhibitions, talks and plays all celebrating the life of Thomas Paine during the Revolution and Reason Festival in July, enjoy the classical music and literature of the Rye Festival in September, or head to nearby Eastbourne for the two week celebration of art and culture in March known as the Eastbourne Festival.

A holiday rental is the preferred option for those staying in Rye. Choose a charming apartment just steps from the beach and several of the best restaurants in town, or book a cosy cabin nestled in the English countryside.

There's plenty to do in Rye and East Sussex, but the area is also near some of the other popular English cities and counties. If you have some extra time to explore, the rolling green countryside of Sussex and the world-renowned city of London can all be reached within an hour by car.

Quay View, dog friendly Townhouse.
Excellent and comfortable house in Rye

Helen hosted a lovely townhouse exactly as described though perhaps a bit bigger than the pictures showed. Perfectly situated for both parking and access to Rye with dog walks on your doorstep. All the mod cons and extremely comfortable beds. Thanks Helen, next time we come to Rye we will give you a call. Oh and what do you do to make the bedsheets smell so lovely! Thank you. Alicesee more
Seagull's Crest
Great venue so convenient for beach

Had a great stay at Seagulls Crest. Cottage right on beach and seconds from 3 to 4 eateries. Downstairs is open plan with kitchen along one wall, a table that seats 6 easily as you enter from the entrance hall. Patio doors open onto a veranda overlooking the beach, which you can access directly from the veranda. Sleeps at least 6 so if you have kids you could sit on the veranda and watch the kids playing on the beach. The cottage is dog friendly, we had a fantastic time walking the dogs (and doing not a lot else!). Cottage is well appointed, tv in living area and master bedroom, plenty of kitchen utensils and equipment, including a dishwasher. There is also a utility room with a washing machine. The owners had kindly left coffee and sugar plus washing up liquid and cloths, tea towels, hand wash, dish washer tablets and even a welcoming pack of biscuits, cake and apple juice. The accommodation was clean and tidy and with tiled floors and wood flooring was easy to keep clean (the sand gets everywhere but only took about 10 mins a day to brush it up). We would certainly book again and highly recommend this cottage.see more

Stowaway Beach House, Camber
Lovely short break

We stayed for 3 nights with our 2 dogs, the owners were very accommodating in letting us and our 2 well behaved Greyhounds stay . Our dogs loved the location with the property right on the beach , as did we! Sitting in the sun room watching and listening to the waves crashing was wonderful. Property itself was lovely and clean and well equipped, with comfortable beds and pillows! Being December the weather was a little chilly but with a couple of the additional heaters on , we were pretty snug! Flooring in the property made it nice and easy to keep the sand under control with a handy little Dyson to run around whenever you needed! Thanks so much we had a lovely stay in your cottage!see more
Stunning Barn close to the Beach in Camber
We all loved it!

We had a week over Christmas and were welcomed with a 9' tree beautifully decorated. Also a nice welcome pack of home made mince pies and the Prosecco my daughter really appreciated! This is a lovely barn conversion with a very rustic feel with the decorations, but very modern bathroom and shower. Hot water pressure is great with instant very hot and soft water. The kitchen was better equipped than any of the places we had been to before - and that is quite a few! The quality of the bed linen was excellent. Big, soft towels for the more curvy of us! Although it was wet and windy at Christmas, the wood burner made the place very warm, with a plentiful supply of logs. Electric radiators in the bedrooms and shower were there to be used as needed. My daughter loved the attic bedroom and woke up one night at around 3 pm to see The Plough perfectly framed in the Velux window. The window can be opened to let in fresh air to relieve the heat of the wood burner. It is just a short walk to a beautiful expanse of sand (but no dogs allowed during the summer period at this particular section of beach). No free parking anywhere; didn't appear to be any concessions at Christmas. The Farm Shop on the main road has some very tasty, frozen ready meals (although a little expensive). Jempson's has the same range. Sainsbury's and Tesco's are a longer car journey away. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.see more
Blackthorn
Lovely relaxing weekend break!

Beautiful location, clean and cosy accommodation, fantastic hosts! Would thoroughly recommend Blackthorn to anyone. Stunning setting and located within short driving distance of nearby towns Winchelsea and Rye. The maps and information in the porch regarding surrounding towns/attractions were very helpful! Thank you Peter for a wonderful stay and for the eggs and bubbly!see more
