“Fantastic house - a true gem!” We stayed for 2 weeks and Tilling View really is a home away from home. Our family lives in Rye (we live in the US) so it gave us the perfect base. And the parking is such a bonus too! We can't wait to come again next summer - thanks Sue!
“Splendid time at The Boathouse” We found the apartment to be clean, tidy and very well-equipped. The shower was powerful, there was abundant hot water, the wifi was trouble-free, the mobile phone signal was strong, the bed was comfortable and we lacked for nothing. Parking immediately adjacent to the apartment was a major benefit. Whilst the outlook from the apartment cannot be described as picturesque, the view over the river and the marsh is fascinating in an eery sort of way and offered lots of interest from passing yachts to a Border Force patrol and a ferocious battle between a cormorant and a quite sizeable eel (the cormorant eventually won!) The location of the apartment was not only peaceful and tranquil but also gave easy access to the town centre which is a delightful place to spend time simply wandering around and admiring the many historic buildings. Within easy reach of Rye, there are many interesting and fascinating National Trust properties to visit including Sissinghurst Gardens, Bateman's (Rudyard Kipling's home), Monk's House (Virginia Woolf), Bodiam Castle, Scotney Castle, Smallhythe (Ellen Terry's house) and Lamb House (Henry James). We also found Tenterden and Lewes to be worth a look, although Hastings was a little disappointing. Our two walks along the marshes from Rye Harbour and along the coast from Beachy Head to The Seven Sisters were thoroughly enjoyable (particularly the latter), helped of course by the lovely weather we had during our stay. We didn't eat out often but can strongly recommend The Ambrette where the three-course lunch was delicious and very good value (especially for the over-60’s who pay only £10.95 instead of the usual £19.95)! Although we didn't have the pleasure of meeting Chris, we were very impressed by his organisational efficiency, the accuracy of the website description of the property and the detailed information emailed to us in good time before our arrival. We would certainly not hesitate to return to The Boathouse. There is nothing we can think of in the way of improvements to be made because it ticked all the boxes for us.
“Perfect weekend retreat to relax and unwind” Would definitely recommend Blackthorn Cottage - we would love to return in 2013 to recharge our batteries! The countryside views from the lounge are lovely and it is in such a quiet a peaceful setting yet only a short drive from amenities, including the village pubs. Loved the hot tub and the indoor pool.
“Quirky fun flat in lovely town” Very comfortable and imaginatively furnished flat, with lots of nice litle touches like CDs, DVDs, a welcome bottle of wine and loaf of bread. And a fascinating town that it's in the centre of. Steep stairs to get to the flat are the only downside, but that goes with the quirkiness.
We enjoyed two nights at Larkin House. It is a quirky little house with everything you need even down to salt and pepper! It is situated perfectly for walking around the town and near to lots of eateries.
We hope to return. …
The Quarter House
This was booked as a surprise for my 50th by my husband and I am a hard person to please as I am a Travel Agent of over 25 years! Could not have picked a better position for access to all the best sites. A magical town especially at Christmas, beautifully decorated and everything within a 10 minute stroll.
The apartment is really an upstairs cottage/maisonette, perfect for the 2 of us and lovely added touch was the Christmas Tree. Very quirky inside, steps straight up from the front door to an open planned kitchen and lounge set around a beautiful full working inglenook fireplace. Beams and wood floors everywhere.Lots of leaflets and pamphlets, information available including free maps. Kitchen was adequate for making snacks and nice to have all the basics there already too as most do not. Owners were particularly helpful allowing us an early check-in and no problem with unloading and parking, everything was covered. Bathroom had a huge corner Jacuzzi bath with great views over Rye and enjoyed seeing the crazy dog below running around the garden. Stairs upstairs to the top attic floor which again is open plan on each side of the stairs, but did see a privacy screen if there were more than 2 of you, again very quirky and under the eaves with beams. Sitting in the lounge which also had a dining table for 4 had lovely views out up The Mint and a wonderful positioned chair to sit and watch the day go by. My only criticism was I wish we were there longer. Highly recommend the Keo cinema, Simply Italian, Marinos Fish Bar, The Deli. I would definitely come back and highly recommend to others and my own customers. …

Excellent holiday home
This 2 bed town house is superb and in an excellent location , just 5 minutes walk into Rye. Everything in the house is of the highest quality, the kitchen is well equipped and the beds are really comfortable. We spent a wonderful 5 nights at Ryeview. There is such a lot to do in the area. Visited several National Trust properties, walked around the delightful town of Rye and also had lovely walks east of Camber Sands and down to Rye Harbour through the meadows. Eating out in Rye was superb, we loved Tuscan Kitchen and Landgate Bistro for fine dining.
All in all a lovely break. Jacquie was so easy and helpful to deal with. …

Chesterfield Cottage Rye, opposite the Landgate
We had a great week in Rye staying in this cosy cottage. The cottage was easy to find and we were able to unload the car outside. We parked at the local train station car park for just over £13 for a week, which allowed us to come and go with ease to explore the surrounding area. Rye is a beautiful town, very dog friendly everywhere we went to shop or eat. There is a large park within a short walk from the cottage, which gave our miniature Schnauzer a break from site seeing! We can highly recommend the Rye Waterworks micropub and Ship Inn. To be honest everywhere we ate and went was welcoming and friendly. We would definitely return to Sussex, and would happily use the cottage again. Thank you very much Richard. …
A brilliant little get away from the city life. Peter and Karen were amazing, so helpful. The cottage is beautiful, located in a gorgeous setting. Perfect for a little break; we will for sure go back sometime. …
