From the manager

Nestled in a terrace of classic honey-coloured, Georgian townhouses, just a stone's throw from the town's centre, New Church Cottage is distinguished by its quintessential duck-egg green front door and pretty bay trees framing its front sash window; an elegant touch, setting the theme for the property as soon as you step inside. Tetbury is arguably one of the most stylish market towns in the Cotswolds, thanks to its independent boutiques, fantastic antique shops and royal connections.

Walking straight into the cosy living space of the cottage, you'll get a sense of its rich heritage, dating back to the 18th Century. An antique-surround wood burning stove is the centrepiece of the room, with tasteful historic artwork, Sanderson fabrics and antique furnishings giving the room a timeless, elegant feel. Through the living room sits a small but well-equipped kitchen, hand-painted and stocked with all that you'll need during your stay, with a handy dining space to the rear.

Up the winding staircase, lined with striking Lewis & Wood wallpaper, you'll find two individually designed double bedrooms. The first-floor bedroom has a beautiful, king-size double bed, painted antique furniture and views out to the street below. Up another winding staircase is the ensuite master bedroom, with show-stopping features radiating a feeling of historic luxury. In here, guests will find a vaulted ceiling with painted beams, a sparkling crystal chandelier, a sink-in king-size double bed and plenty of antiques. The cottage's main bathroom is between the ground floor and first floor.

Outside, there's a small courtyard with a table and four chairs where guests can enjoy alfresco dining and relax after a day exploring Tetbury and its surroundings.

Ground Floor

Entrance:

New Church Cottage is set in the middle of a classic Georgian terrace, just off Tetbury's historic High Street. Step through a classic, duck-egg blue front door, into the cottage's living room.

Living Room:

A true slice of Georgian elegance with just the right balance of mod-cons, New Church Cottage's living room manages to expertly blend classic, elegant interiors with plenty of cosy touches to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Decorated in an attractive, classic palette of Cotswold creams, in here you'll find sisal flooring, Georgian-era artwork, antique trinkets and a comfortable two-seater sofa and two armchairs. The centrepiece of the living room is the wood burning stove with its antique surround - the perfect spot to warm up in the cooler months after a busy day in the great Cotswold outdoors. Timeless, elegant and charming in equal measure, the living room offers a real home away from home feel for guests in search of a touch of luxury.

Kitchen/Dining Room:

Through the living room to the rear of the cottage sits the kitchen and dining area, a galley-style space with seating for up to four. In here, the refined feel of the rest of the property continues thanks to plenty of traditional touches, including hand-painted units, Iroko wood worktops and a deep Belfast-style sink. The thoughtful nods back to yester-year, unique seating and clever uses of cupboard space (hidden behind hand-made fabric doors) give the kitchen an authentic, homely yet very stylish feel. It is equipped with everything needed for a self-catering stay. The delightful dining area has a table and seating for four. Just off this area is a utility cupboard and a back door that opens to the cottage's enclosed courtyard.

First Floor

Head up a winding staircase, lined with beautiful, floral Lewis & Wood wallpaper, to the family bathroom, then and up three further steps to the first bedroom.

Family Bathroom:

Half-way up the staircase to the first floor is the family bathroom, complete with a full-size bath and overhead shower. The gorgeous bathroom has a bespoke, marble vanity cabinet, wood panelling and polished limestone tiles and is flooded with light thanks to a long skylight.

Bedroom One:

Sitting on the cottage's first floor, this double bedroom, with a king-size bed and bedside tables with reading lamps, is an homage to antique elegance that's sure to make any guest feel as though they've stumbled into a luxurious yet understated boudoir. Farrow & Ball-hued walls in classic grey tones give the room a feeling of relaxation, contrasted with the pinks and greys of the curtains and blinds, which frame the original, sash window. The bedroom is furnished with a wardrobe, dressing table and a small dresser, plus there's a wall-mounted, Freeview television tucked behind the bedroom's doorway.

Second Floor

Head along the landing and through a glass-paned door to a winding staircase, with a handrail, up to the ensuite master bedroom.

Bedroom Two:

This hidden gem of a bedroom will certainly surprise you, with its impressive, vaulted ceilings and beautiful exposed beams. A luxury, king-size bed is the centrepiece, with an elegant chandelier above, giving the room a luxurious mood. The room is furn

Response from the manager
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The listing that you accessed to book the property clearly states that pets are allowed on request and that an additional fee applies, we’re sorry to learn that you missed this, and we contacted you to inform you of this when we were made aware. The listing also states that parking is on-street nearby, unfortunately we cannot control other road users parking in public spaces. The property welcome guide image that you have included with your review is an outdated copy that was in the property and obviously only available after placing a booking, this has now been updated, though the listing details that you viewed and booked through and details that were sent to you before your arrival all state the correct information. We were disappointed that you chose not to stay for the full duration of your booking, in line with the advertised and agreed terms and conditions we’re not authorised to provide a refund for choosing to leave early. New Church Cottage deservedly receives wonderful reviews year-round and it’s unfortunate your experience appears to be atypical this time around. Kind Regards, Bolthole Retreats
