Ideally placed for visiting Eden, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Fowey and the rest of Cornwall and south Devon.
To protect the environment and encourage sustainable tourism, there is a £1.00 coin meter at the cottage, set at a lower than national rate for electricity.

The England region

As you reach the village of Polperro you realise that you are somewhere very special. A pretty Cornish fishing village located on the Cornish Riviera coast just 26 miles from Plymouth, virtually unspoiled by time. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the rugged coast and marine blue sea, a fairy tale setting for the perfect holiday.
Polperro has it all. A gentle climate, quaint friendly pubs, fine restaurants serving locally caught seafood, a variety of individual shops including art galleries, antique and gift shops, a smuggling museum, model village and some interesting historical sites.

Activities abound for the entire family - you can hire a fishing boat and try your hand at catching some fresh mackerel for your evening meal, or just pack a picnic basket and head out along the beautiful Cornish coastal paths.

Polperro has a sandy beach for children to enjoy, a large shallow rock pool to paddle in called Maids Pool by the locals, rocky coves to explore and Chapel Pool - an inviting rock pool big enough to swim in - which appears as the tide recedes each day.

Or if its total relaxation you're after, simply sit and watch time pass by as the boats gently bob up and down in the picturesque harbour.

Polperro is well placed for exploring other parts of Cornwall. The Eden Project is only 20 minutes away while Tintagel Castle (the legendary birthplace of King Arthur), Plymouth Aquarium, Bodmin Moor, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Shipwreck and Heritage Centre are also within easy reach.

Polperro

Looe is just 4 5 miles from Polperro - There are many activities on offer at Looe.
Looe is a picturesque fishing town, situated in South East Cornwall. Looe was first chartered as a town in 1270 and seafaring has been a way of life here for centuries with many tales of piracy and smuggling to add to its fascinating history.

With two rivers and a tidal harbour, water separates East Looe from West Looe and a quaint passenger ferry boat is available all year round to cross the harbour.

You can wander down our old streets to the bustling waterfront and watch one of Cornwall's biggest fishing fleets unload their daily catch at the quay. The bustling harbour is home to over 60 commercial fishing vessels.

With over twenty-five superb restaurants and pubs in the town you will be spoilt for choice.

Why not laze the day away on the safe and sandy beach at East Looe, then take a walk down the famous Banjo Pier. Or explore the rock pools and collect shells on Hannafore beach at West Looe. Those feeling more energetic can take in the south west coastal path which has some of the finest scenery in the country!

The Old Guildhall Museum houses artefacts and memorabilia charting the history of this ancient port.

The prosperity of Looe in the mid 1800's was inexorably linked to the mining industry high on the edge of Bodmin Moor at Caradon Hill. Initially linked by the Liskeard Looe Union Canal and subsequently the Looe Valley Railway, copper ore and stone were brought to Looe and exported by ship to all parts of the world. There are many interesting valley and moorland walks to enable you to explore this rich mining heritage.

“We have found the perfect home from home in tranquil Olde English - Cornish village”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2015

Cottage No 3 suites our requirements perfectly - Tram on doorstep so elderly dad can enjoy independence - he loves to do his own thing - chat to the shop keepers & sit by the harbour. There are cliff walks for our dogs & pubs, pasties & cream teas in arms reach! The driveway ensures we can come & go at leisure with the whole of Cornwall to explore. The cottage reminds me of a 'Miss Marple' or 'Poirot' film - We love the decor which is homely & very comfy. We have found our ideal holiday retreat & will be booking same place same cottage again. (so happy in Polperro we got married & spent our honeymoon in cottage no.3) All our guests want to join us again next year!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a superb review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your Honeymoon at Crumplehorn Cottage No3 - and we look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards Victoria Crumplehorn Cottages
