“Wonderful Family Break” We have just returned from a 4 night stay and enjoyed every minute. The lodge is in an excellent location within the Caer Beris Holiday Park, which is very quiet and peaceful. The lodge is 2 beds and not 3 as stated in the description. It is well equipped, clean and comfortable. The decking is secure, so excellent for dogs and children. We loved watching the wildlife (rabbits, birds and bats). If you go over the bridge to the manor and follow the path there is a small field for your dogs to run free if you wish. Builth Wells town is a shortish walk away, and I would recommend going via the river walk (this is much flatter than the steep walk up hill on return to the site). Builth Wells has everything you need to stock up on essentials should you run out of anything (we pre-ordered our shopping with Tesco beforehand which was delivered to the lodge). There are plenty of shops, pubs/restaurants, cafes, takeaways and a park for the little ones too. We will be returning to this site as it is a great base for exploring mid wales and not too far to visit the coast either. Next time we would need to go for a 3 bed lodge due to the children growing up and needing their own space. However, the hubby and I would definitely re-book this lodge for a cheeky break away together

“High standard and great value” A very comfortable, clean and well maintained property. Very kind and friendly hosts. Plenty of room for parking and good standard of all fittings, linen, decoration etc. A perfect place from which to explore the beautiful countryside. We certainly hope to visit again and would not hesitate to reccomend to family and friends.

“Excellent” As three very elderly persons having a short break we could not better the kind and considerate way that we were welcomed by the owners on our arrival and we felt sure that had we needed any help during our stay we would only have to ask. Dolwen is a homely house in a lovely quiet location with lovely views. We hope to return soon.

“Cosy central hideaway” So we escaped here for a weekend that turned out to be very cold and rainy. The flat was small but perfectly appointed which made it so cosy when hiding from the weather!! It is so central and handy for all hay on wye shops/cafes. The only negative was our stupidity when it came to working out the heating. The flat was very cold when we arrived and it took a little bit of time to warm up but once it did it was gorgeous.

“A wonderful little cottage” Chancery cottage was perfect for our trip to Hay on Wye. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay... lovely comfy beds too! Very clean and tidy, with a great kitchen.,bathroom and furnishings. Located in the heart of Hay - with walks ( our dogs loved walking to The Warren and swimming from the beach area) straight from the door. So many great well priced restaurants and pubs to chose from too after a hard day walking. All in all a lovely dog friendly cottage... which suited us all perfectly! Thank-you

“Total 'get-away from it all' break” We were looking for a totally rural setting near to some good wild swimming sites and found, in Cwn Irfon Lodge, the perfect location. Looking out onto a steep hill, dotted with sheep and within easy reach of The Washpool and an attractive waterfall, the cottage was comfortable and warm. The shower was a somewhat less powerful than the nearby waterfall, but the kitchen was well equipped and towels were plentiful. After swimming at Wolf's Leap and a remote lake, we really appreciated being able to use the sauna at Cwn Irfon which the owners Gyles and Karin had warmed up for us on request. A welcome cake, provided by Karin, was a really nice touch.

“Picturesque, pet friendly and quiet.” We wanted a quiet holiday but with plenty to do. This ticked all the boxes. Hay on Wye for books and coffee, Brecon Beacons for our activites, Hereford for shopping and plenty of local hill running. We had friendly and very knowledgeable hosts with two lovely friendly dogs. If we needed anything they would always accommodate. Everything you need is in the cottage with a supermarket a few miles away. WIFI not great but the end of the day why do you need WIFI on holiday. This place is ideal for exploring what's around you and not playing with Tech devices. You will not be disappointed staying here. We will be back again next year.

“A cosy, value for money, couple's base for sightseeing in the area.” Very clean, comfortable and cosy. The kitchen was modern and well equipped. Excellent shower. Between an A road and a railway line but both are pretty quiet and sound insulation was good. Compared to home in London it was extremely peaceful. Nice garden to sit out in, weather permitting, occasionally shared with neighbouring caretakers' large dog but she is very placid - no problem for us. Internally there were a couple of minor downsides - the lighting in the living room needs to be improved and the dining table is pretty small (no room for bigger!) but these aren't deal breakers. All in all, excellent value for money and I would be happy to return. With regard to the poor booking process, getting through on the phone was tricky (the phone number listed was wrong) so I enquired about availability via the tripadvisor website form. This was answered with a no but with a very careful re-reading of their email a few days later I realised the company that handle bookings had answered about a villa in Spain! However, I'm glad I persisted.

“Waw what a beautiful weekend!” Please get a sign at the front of the layby! The satnav took us further down the road to another layby which totally confused us! We stayed at little twmp barn on 4th November for the weekend. We were all desperate for a relaxing family weekend, with two kids with additional needs we were all exhausted and really needed to recharge!! And boy did we! The kids spent Friday afternoon and night with us at the barn and went off to nannies for Saturday so we could have some kid free time on the Saturday, all in all the kids spent around 20+ hours in the hot tub, they absolutely loved it. As did we on the Saturday night we were star gazing and firework spotting and before we knew it it was midnight. We braved the frosty air and stoked the fire, snuggled up on the sofa and watched Austin powers! As cheezy as it sounds it was absolutely amazing!the kids came back on the sunday and we had loads of board games and hot tub fun! the kids loved the owners little dog and were really upset to leave. We would love to come back again! Everything supplied was amazing, loads of board games and a good DVD selection. Perhaps to many mugs for the amount of people who would be at the barn and we needed to empty a cupboard to put our food into. The WiFi was very sporadic, and there was no tin opener (cooked breakfast nightmare!!) Almost not enough loo roll and we ran out of kitchen roll. The whole place was extremely clean! Thank you :)

“A charming and comfortable pet-friendly base for exploring the area” The cottage at Heol Giedd is everything that is promised. It is a charming property that is furnished to a high standard and is very well equipped. Despite facing directly onto the street, it is very quiet as the street is lightly used by both traffic and pedestrians. The local shops and pubs are within easy walking distance. It provided a perfect base for our short stay. The owner could not be more helpful before, during and after our stay. A word of advice for anyone travelling with a dog - it's worth making the effort to seek out the Coronation Country Park (c. 5 mins walk from the cottage) early as it was one of the few places in the area that we found where we could let our dog off the lead.

“Idyllic Retreat” We loved the location of this sweet chalet. The peaceful and pretty garden felt private but with the hosts a step away for any issues. Sitting by the river just watching it tumble away was so relaxing. We found it well equipped with the nice touch of extra dvds, games and book to read. The chalet was clean and the hosts welcoming. As with many non brick buildings especially with the proximity to the river - fabrics can feel damp but a good blast of heating soon sorts that. The village has several shops and a fish and chip shop. Everywhere you drive is stunning and you do need to drive but the journeys are an adventure in itself. As Mum and two children we were out everyday and there are lots of places to visit and enjoy - Portmeirion, Harlech Castle and Barmouth, Dolweddyn Castle, Swallow Falls, Llanberis Lake Railway and The Slate Museum - fantastic museum and free! Langollen, Plas Newydd House, a canal trip over the World Heritage Site Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and The British Ironworks Centre on the way home at Oswestry. Our only complaint would be that Cally the dog and Black Cat didn't come and visit us! Oh and a new toilet brush! Thank you guys!

“Delightful Location” Lovely house in a delightful location. Much thought has gone into the house to make it user friendly for all generations, well equipped and very friendly owners. Located within 10 mins walk of a good pub selling decent ale and reasonable food. Plenty to do locally, the Elan Valley Reservoirs a must, with an 8 mile traffic free cycle ride following the reservoirs and falls with stunning scenery. Plenty of good walking direct from the cottage and if you have rubbish weather as we did it was always lovely to come back to a very comfy house and light the woodburner
