“Perfect” Just came back from a lovely weekend at Chester Canal View and it was fab, tidy size room with ensuite and a cute little kitchenette area with a breakfast basket which was filled with cereals, juice, cake bars, fruit etc Ken thought of everything, perfect host, sent loads of information about the surrounding areas which I also thought he made quite witty with his humour. Would definitely recommend Ken's place as it's only a 10 minute stroll along the wall which takes you into the centre with all the lovely old buildings and plenty of pubs along the canal. The vintage bus tour has been sold so we went on the open top bus and a ½ hour boat ride which was very nice. Thank you Ken we had a great time. Ceri and Gordon x
“Gorgeous little Gem in Chester” We had such a lovely time staying at the Little Tin Chapel, a wonderful place. We booked it so that we could go to Chester zoo, which we loved and only a 12 minute drive away. The Little Tin Chapel was a great find as it has lots of character and we really enjoyed lighting the wood burner and relaxing in the evening there. Definitely would recommend!
“A Lovely Place to Stay” Woodfield Cottage is a lovely place to stay. It is well equipped with everything you need, including pamphlets about the local area and places to visit. You are welcomed on your arrival with fresh milk, cookies, farm fresh eggs, and cut flowers on the dining room table.
The bungalow is very clean, comfortable and roomy. It has a large private garden and is surrounded by open fields.
The owner, Kathy, is extremely welcoming and she could not do enough to ensure that the five of us were comfortable during our stay. Visiting from Canada we were unfamiliar with the area, Kathy not only provided us with information regarding train travel to and from Chester, car rental locations, places to visit (and a host of other information), but supplied us with a GPS and giant map of Britain for our sightseeing excursions.
We enjoyed our stay at Woodfield, and would definitely go back if visting the Cheshire area.
“Excellent location and house is perfect” Family group stayed for 60th birthday celebration. Directions and instructions spot on. Could not fault anything at all. House is beautifully furnished and decorated with everything you need - a home from home. Thank you to Melanie
“Fantastic find, luxuriously appointed and perfectly placed to explore Chester” Spotlessly clean, wonderfully decorated, thoughtful little extras and ideally placed to explore Chester! My mum, sister , sister in law and I had a fun filled few days in this wonderful gem of a property. Everything is catered for with lots of little extras too.
Thank you x
“Serene in the green” The Oak Barn cottages are super nice, clean and serene. The place itself is very comfortable and light and airy, and Jayne is the hostess with a grand smile; very accomodating. I especially liked strolling down across the River Dee to Holt in Wales to get provisions. The greenery and tranquility of the area are very soothing. I just wish we had more time to visit the Peal O' Bells pub there. And, you're only about 15 minute drive from Chester and all that implies.
“Large barn convertion” Yes this is a very roomy property with large patio doors looking over the countryside of Cheshire. We really appreciated the king size bed and roominess of the bedroom. Downstairs we had a lovely wooden floor, smart TV and good kitchen area. The conversion was bright and airy. We really enjoyed the views to the rear, with an outside table and chairs in the patio area. The location is close to Chester and the zoo, huge shopping centre, etc. and the local village has a co-op, chippie and Chinese as well as a post office. Great holiday spot.
“Lovely house right in the centre of Chester” Little gem of a house-felt immediately at home! Couldn't wish for a better location to sight-see Chester and surrounding area. Would recommend to friends and family visiting Chester.
“Wonderful holiday” I stayed here with my elderly mother for a week. What a lovely house, felt like a home away from home. I was a little concerned how my mum would cope around the house as she is very unsteady on her feet and needn't have. She loved it too. Having a toilet downstairs was great. Spent most of the time sat in garden when we were in. The goodie box on arrival was very much appreciated. I would definitely recommend this property for a holiday as Chester is a beautiful place and you are not far from the city centre. What a delightful house.
“Excellent” Would like to say what a wonderful weekend I have shared with six friends,at The River House In Chester, beautiful room's views were lovely the location was prefect within 15 mins walk to the shops and restaurants, but still a relaxing spot to stay plus plenty of parking. Carnt stay enough really, just thankyou to Melanie for a great weekend
“Brilliant, well organised holiday letting for a great family holiday.” Baker's cottage is ideally situated for all that Chester has to offer. Perfect for a family holiday. The cottage is lovely, and even comes with games, books, dvds etc . The owners have organised the cottage perfectly with lots of info to help make the stay as easy and comfortable as possible. Jo was very approachable and happy to be contacted with any questions.
I would not hesitate to recommend this rental to any friends or family looking for somewhere to stay in Chester.
“perfection” everything about this cottage you will love from location which is lovely and peaceful as well as being a beautiful cottage to being only a 2 minute walk over the bridge to being in chester city we loved it from the moment we entered the cottage and we cant wait to go back and are already looking to book again thank you so much for letting us rent your beautiful cottage.
“Excellent accommodation in a very good location” My wife and I stayed for a week in the Tower Wharf Apartment next to the canal in Chester. The apartment was superb containing everything needed for our stay. All the rooms were spotless and expertly arranged and decorated. Gail, the housekeeper, welcomed us explaining where everything was. There were eggs, butter, milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge also bread, biscuits, tea and coffee plus lots of other stuff all of which was much appreciated. Chester city centre was within a 12 minute walk from the apartment either by the canal towpath or by the city walls. I have stayed in a few apartments and cottages over the years. This is one of the best.
“Excellent comfortable base for Chester” Myself, husband and two young sons, stayed at this lovely house in Shocklach. On arrival we were greeted by a beautifully clean, roomy and tidy home, with all the equipment a family needs, also some milk and bread which was a godsend.
The beds were really comfortable, and my children loved looking at the calves in the field opposite from their bedroom. We found we were in a perfect place to visit Chester and all the surrounding tourist places. Excellent value for a summer holiday break.

Stylish cottage in heart of historic city centre
Absolutely fantastic location, with all amenities on the doorstep.
The location is fantastic, Tesco and Boots across the road, a taxi rank and bus terminal all within a five minute walk. Found a fabulous Italian restaurant in Hoole, called Made in Italy on Faulkner Sreet - can highly recommend if you wish to escape from the hustle bustle of the City centre. This cottage is in the heart of the City, but it
is very quiet and tucked away from all noise of a very busy City centre.
The cottage is well maintained and cosy. A welcome pack with the basics is provided in the cottage when you arrive. The kitchen is small, but functional. The bathroom and toilet are fairly new and were clean on arrival, but not spotless. The shower is very good. The beds have decent mattresses and the bedding and towels were clean and nicely laundered. The stairs to the first floor are however, very steep. All in all, a pleasant place to stay, and we considered it value for money. We will go back. …
Chester Canal View
Very good find close to Chester
We booked this last minute but we’re very glad we found such a gem. Ken was a great host and we had all we needed in our room. Canal View is only a 10 minute walk from Chester centre and the racecourse, and only 20 minutes walk (max) to the river so is very well-placed for everything without needing to use the car! Would recommend it and hope to return soon. …
