"Watch out for stairs"

Both stairs are narrow, sharply curved and slippy. If you have elderly or children with you these could be dangerous. We both felt there should be more handrails ( only 1 side ) and slipped a couple … More

Character Cottages, as a marketing agency, does not look after or maintain any cottages. The following is written by the property owner: “I am very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. I will try here to address the points you raise. Firstly the stairs are steep, and there is a warning on the website about this. This is one of the character features of the cottage, indeed of many old cottages in the Cotswolds. As long as you take care going up and down then no problems should arise. However I take your point on board about installing another hand rail if this gives guests more confidence. In terms of the cold, this is the first winter Southview has been let out, and I was unaware the top bedroom and bathroom were so cold since you are the first guests to mention this. So thanks for bringing this to my attention - I will ensure this is remedied. With respect to the security light, I assume you mean the light on the wall across the street? Yes this does come on when people pass along the street, however the street has very few pedestrians in the winter evenings after about 21:00, and so I am very surprised this caused you a problem. I have not received any complaints before about this - you must have been unlucky with late night pedestrians on this occasion.”
