“Wonderful, relaxing, perfect place to get away from it all.” I stayed there with my husband and 4 kiddies for a long weekend. What a wonderful house. Ok the 4 kids had to share 3 beds but it was like an adventure for them. The house was fully kitted out. We didnt want for anything. The sunroom was my favourite room. So cosy with comfy leather chairs and couch and a solid fuel stove in the centre of it. I can just imagine it lit in the winter time. I loved the decor in the house too. Cute and quaint bits and bobs all over the house. It was spotlessly clean. Also there is a large playground just 2 minutes away from the house with a football pitch and basketball net. You can see it from the bathroom window. The kids and my husband went to it each morning. Gave Mammy a bit of peace!! Strangford lough is a small place but Downpatrick is only 10mins away with everything you need from swimming pool to cinema to food shopping, restaurants, etc. You can get a 5 minute ferry across the lough to portaferry which is another very quaint place to visit. Beautiful surroundings. Makes me want to go back! Anyway i highly recommend No 42. Thanks to the Sharvins for helping us love our visit.
The Red Door - fantastic holiday let in Strangford
Excellent house in ace location
Our first stay at the Red Door but unlikely to be our last. An excellent house with good facilities.Well placed to explore Strangford and the County Down coast. Lots to do in the immediate area, including nearby Castle Ward (now better known as the real life location for GoT's Winterfell). Particularly well placed (two doors away) from the excellent Hole in the Wall pub. …
Relax and unwind on the shores of Strangford Lough
Nice and cosy
It's really close to pretty much everything, with plenty of pubs that do great food, as well as a nice shop. It's only about fifteen minutes in the car to the castle with the Game of Thrones tour (we loved the wolves), and the aquarium is only a ferry-ride away. The locals are very nice, too. …
Dunsey Beag Cottage
We have just returned from one night spent at Dunsey Beag. There were 6 of us staying here to attend a wedding nearby and the cottage was beautiful situated right on the water.
The owners Mark and Ann were extremely friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for us. I had even left one of my shirts behind and Mark posted this back to me free of charge so shows how they go above and beyond for their guests.
I would recommend Dunsey Beag to anyone staying in the Strangford area as you won't be disappointed. …
Seal Cottage Strangford
A wonderful week
We have just returned from a wonderful week at Seal Cottage. The house is so warm and comfortable and is very well equipped. If you're looking for a pristine house with all the mod cons this isn't the house for you, but if you want a home from home with an amazing location and spectacular views then I can't recommend it enough. The pool room is brilliant and our four children spent hours both up there and on the beach spotting seals and collecting sea glass. The open fire was lovely for chilly evenings although we were blessed with sunshine and even some blue sky for most of the week. We were all genuinely very sad when our week was over and can't wait to go back. …
Carraig Dunsey House Bed and Breakfast
Comfortable, friendly, idyllic setting - and great breakfasts.
Near Kilclief and a short drive from Strangford, on the outer shores of Lough Neagh and in easy reach of the Ards Peninsula, Quoile river walks, St. Patrick's Trail and the Mourne Mountains. Carraig Dunsey is a former farmhouse and our ground floor bedroom was spacy with a view of the Lough. The owners were friendly, chatty and helpful, and the breakfasts were huge and delicious. We spent a lovely week exploring the area. …
Perfect spot for an anniversary
A beautiful, quiet secluded little home (only 30 miles) from home, we spent the night here for our 2nd wedding anniversary and between the welcome, the warmth of the cabin and the stars on show that night, it was utter perfection, we'll be back! …
