“Amazing property and hosts” We stayed at Pike cottage at the end of August 15. On arrival we were greeted by a lovely log fire, and although it wasn't cold this was a very nice touch. John and Roberta were there to welcome us with a basket of local breads, jams, butter and chocolates. Nothing was too difficult for our hosts and they even put another television in the down stairs bedroom for my disabled mother in law.
The main purpose of our stay was to visit family and friends in the local area and the cottage was ideally situated for our requirements. John has a wealth of knowledge of the area and Northern Ireland, and is very keen for guests to enjoy their stay, so please ask his advice and let him know your wishes.
We were very fortunate with the weather, the forecasters were wrong yet again, but there are lots of places to visit regardless of the weather, please again take Johns guidance. One morning John took us out on the Lough in his speed boat, even allowing my wife and father in law to have a drive. If time had allowed we would have been able to try water skiing and there is a canoe available that can be used to explore the reed beds in the Lough, just 2 mins walk away.
Access to the property is along a narrow lane and you can meet vehicles coming in the opposite direction, including the bin men, so please drive with care. There aren't shops/pubs within walking distance so it's worth taking essentials for your first morning with you. There are stores within a short drive, and some very nice pubs/restaraunts, The Pheasant at Annahilt has a good menu with generous portions. If a large shop is required there are numerous stores in the Lisburn area including Sainsbury's and M&S. Again John can inform you fully of local amenities.
It is nice to be able to say hello to Mr Felix the goat in the morning and there is other wild life running around the area. John has a Jack Russell called Reggie who is very friendly when he gets to know you, hopefully we will be able to take him for a walk on our next visit.
Thanks both for making us all so welcome.
Stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Beautiful cottage in a lovely area. John and Roberta couldn't of been nicer. Would recommend. …
Oatlands Self Catering Lets "The Mill"
Lovely holiday home
The house was very clean and comfortable. Peaceful location. Very well equipped and nice extras like the welcoming basket- milk, bread, butter etc. My only grumble is that the distance from Hillsborough isn't made clear. If you want to have a drink on a night out and have to pay for a taxi it'll cost you £7 each way. …

My wife, two small children and Parents-in-Law stayed here across a long weekend in June. We had an excellent stay and really can not fault the place. Great Owners / hosts who were ready to assist if ever needed. The house was very well equipped with pretty much everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms, good sized kitchen and living area. The play area was great for kids and adults. Not far out of Hillsborough. All in all absolutely perfect for our break. Thank you ! …
