There is soo much to do in Somerset... I know it will be difficult to draw yourself away from the cosy confines of our shabby chic shepherds hut but there are some amazing places to visit.
We are literally on the doorstep of the stunningly beautiful and captivating levels and moors, where sheep graze in abundance, in the autumn, its misty mornings its at its best. Shapwick Heath reserve, Ham Wall and Westhay Moor are all a bike ride away(10 mins in a car)Through the winter the murmarations of the starlings are a delight to see, serious birdwatchers, won't be disappointed.
In ten minutes drive you can be standing on Burnham beach, 7 miles of stunning coastline down to the natural trust managed ancient fort of Brean Down.
Further afield,40 minutes drive you have LONGLEAT owned by Lord Bath ,a great house and garden to visit with the added attraction of the safari Park.At DUNSTER,again 40 mins drive, you can visit both the west Somerset Railway, a real treat if you are a steam enthusiast, and Dunster castle which is absolutely stunning.
Closer to home 15mins drive sees you in WELLS a delightfully pretty ancient Cathedral City ,markets in the town centre Wednesdays and Saturdays first started in 1136 AD. You can visit the Bishops Palace and his moated garden, beautiful so beutiful that recently films such as The Golden Age, The libertine and Hot Fuzz have been filmed there.
Literally right next door is the village of WOOKEY HOLE with its famous caves which stay at a constant temperature of 11degrees C and still used for storing cheese.
Cheddar is a 15 minute drive, the largest gorge in eEngland its stunning rock formations has to be seen
It also has the caves where Britains oldest skeleton was discovered dated 7150 BC,and he is related to people living in the village today! You can visit the caves and also see cheddar cheese and paper making.
Bath and Bristol are both 45 mins away
BATH is famous for its hot springs, very beautiful and many famoue people have lived there. You can even have tea in Jane Austen's house! Bristol is a vibrant city with lots of thing to see and do particularly on the harbourside.
Closer to home is Glastonbury , with a fantastic Abbey, Museum and the Tor to visit (we can see the tour) and the hut is a great base to use for the festival.Whilst in Glastonbury you can pop to the next village, Street, still famous for its shoes and it has a brilliant discount shopping village with 90 shops all the major labels at incredible discounts.
You'll love your visit to Somerset Shepherds Hut Holidays

“Fantastic Relaxing Break”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2016

Fantastic ... no TV, time to relax, great base to explore from! Sally and her husband have made a little slice of heaven, lovely furnished hut, friendly chickens and peace! People thought that the pictures we took of our suppers in the garden were actually in a quaint restaurant! Thank you for a fantastic few days - can't wait to visit again!

Owner's reply: Delighted you enjoyed your stay and Thankyou for your positive comments. We look forward to meeting you, in the future Sally
