Description

This is a lovely family home, much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside! There is plenty of space over 3 floors to spread yourself out, as well as a sunny garden and a large shed for bicycles, canoes etc.

The name Steamdrifter comes from the kind of steam powered fishing boats once built in the village and used by the locals for fishing around the coast of Scotland. St Monans is still very proud of its boat building and fishing heritage.

The ground floor has an open plan living room with wood burning stove, smart TV, new kitchen with huge island with bar stools and a wonderful solid oak floor. This leads through to a huge conservatory which contains the dining table, as well as a sofa and comfy chairs for relaxing and enjoying the view over the garden.

On the first floor is the master bedroom, a very large room with views over the harbour and the village, with an ensuite shower and toilet. Next door is a sweet twin room overlooking the back garden,

Up the next staircase are 2 more bedrooms, a single room with great sea views, and a lovely double room looking over the hills and farmland to the north. There is also another sitting room facing south, with an open fire, and the best bpviews of all, uninterrupted views over the Firth of Forth to the Bass rock, Berwick Law and the coast of East Lothian. Watch the ships going up and down, keep an eye out for dolphins!

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The East Neuk of Fife is a magical area of quaint fishing cottages, harbours, quirky shops and wonderful eateries. It is like stepping back in time and is a perfect getaway from the stresses of modern life. There are a string of villages along 10 miles of beautiful coastline overlooking the Firth of Forth. Each has a character of its own, where you will find beaches, art galleries, golf courses, ice-cream shops, fish and chips, souvenir shops, boats, water sports, museums and plenty more to occupy your time. Just an hour from Edinburgh and 20 minutes from St Andrews, the home of golf, it's a wonderful place for your holiday.

St Monans

St Monans is a traditional fishing village with pretty coloured cottages with crowstep gables clustered around the harbour. Here there are boats and lobster pots, shops and cafes. There is an ancient medieval church, an old windmill, a small beach and great views of the sea from all parts of the village. Watch out for Dolphins!

“Lovely St monans”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2017

Lovely house in St monans.everything you would need for a perfect weekend away even fresh eggs, super.smashing log fire .the only drawback was that the stairs did not have a hand rail on both sides and we felt that it was unsafe for some of my family.

“Festive Get away”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2017

My family and friends stayed in this spacious house over 3 nights during the festive period and brought in the New Year. There was not one thing I could fault with this property,it was much bigger than we thought and had everything we needed to welcome and comfortable. I would definitely book to come back to St Monans as any locals we met where very friendly. Thank you Maia
