Our Apartment is the ideal base, not only, for holidaying guests, but also honeymoon, birthday celebration, wedding anniversary and all other anniversary, guests, not forgetting Christmas and New Year guests. St. Ives holds a very lively fancy dress New Year's Eve Street Party each year.

St Ives is a paradise of 4 of the most stunningly beautiful white sandy beaches in the UK, and boasts one of the mildest climates in England. Porthmeor Beach is great for surfing, Porthgwidden Beach is sheltered and Porthminster Beach has beach activities. All are ideal for swimming and all have cafes, shops and public loos.

St Ives is the perfect place to relax and unwind, whether it is sunbathing on the beach or enjoying walks.

St Ives is steeped in history, and a century or so ago, was known for it's tin and copper mining and fishing, but wind forward to today and the mining no longer exists, but fishing still does. The North West Cornish Coast is featured in the very popular TV series POLDARK, where it is filmed.

St Ives has a magical atmosphere and has changed very little from those bygone eras, which is why it is easily one of the UK's most popular holiday destinations. The original cobbled stress and quaint old buildings are still here, which are now mostly upmarket shops in the centre.

There are plenty of shops in St Ives stocked with local and general produce. A Tesco Supermarket is located in Carbis Bay, a 5 minute car drive away, or guests could pre-order groceries online before they arrive.

There is an array of restaurants and bars in St ives for dining out.

There are many attractions to visit, such as the Tate Gallery (currently closed as the building is being extended, but due to to open again in 2017), the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden and St Michael's Mount in Marazion (a very short car drive away) to name but three.

A Taxi Company, St Ives Train Station and the Bus Station are all just a few minutes walk from the Apartment.

We hope that we have said enough to tempt you into booking with us, but if you would like any further information, please don't hesitate in contacting Chris and Janice Smith, owners of Apartment 9 Fernlea Court, who would be more than happy to assist.

We offer SHORT BREAKS (3 nights minimum) in LOW SEASON. Please contact Chris and Janice Smith for details and price.

If you prefer to be just outside St Ives, we have a second Apartment located in Carbis Bay, just a few minutes car ride away or a 3 minute train ride away. If this is of interest, please look for 7 Fernhill Apartments, Carbis Bay on the Holiday Lettings website.

St Ives is an all year resort. The town is famous for its art, glorious sandy beaches, rugged coastline, and even its New Years Evening fancy dress street party and firework display. The mild climate makes it a pleasant place to visit all year round. There is a wide range of restaurants and shops, most of which remain open all year round.

Artists have been drawn to St Ives by its unique light qualities, the town positively glows with the light reflecting from the sandy beaches that surround it. There are numerous galleries displaying and selling art by local artists. There is also the prestigious Tate St Ives, Bernard Leach Pottery, and terrific Barbara Hepworth Museum.

The St Ives School of Painting provides a wide range of courses all year, suitable for beginners through to professionals. Why not join some of the classes or courses - newcomers are most welcome - all courses are run by professional artists, who are friendly and helpful. The School also runs drop in life classes on Wednesday evenings (7.30pm to 9.30pm) and Saturday mornings and afternoons (10am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm) at a cost of £15 for non members. Some materials are included others can be purchased at a reasonably low cost. New comers are most welcome. It's a great place to meet other holiday makers, residents, and artists.

One of the owners, Chris Smith, is also an artist who runs his own specialist art courses with a studio in nearby Towednack. For further information or to arrange a studio visit, ask when you make your booking.

For walkers, the South West Coast Path passes through St Ives and stretches in both directions over a rugged coastline to the west and south and glorious sandy beaches and dunes to the east. You can plan your daily walk to finish at a pub or restaurant and then get a bus or taxi or the St Ives scenic train back to St Ives.

For bird watchers there are plenty of sightings of rare birds blown in by the Atlantic storms. The salt flats at Lelant and Hayle are a favourite viewing area.
